Mermay 27 - Electric!

This mermaid is based on a lesser electric ray. Such a cute sea pancake!

For this prompt I was first considering mudskippers and physically running. But then I remembered that Salmon runs are a thing. Sooo, I guess these salmon mermaids are uh...having a little to ok much fun at the top of the falls there.

I'll come back to finish the colors later on!

Almost forgot to post Mermay 24th-Shrimp!

Not as happy with this one, I just don't think this quite caught all the fun in my initial sketch for her. But hey, at least I'm caught up!

Mermay 25th- Geek

For today's prompt I really loved the idea of an eel-inspired mermaid in a big underwater cave just filled with bottles. I like to like they started their collection finding messages in bottles, but then expanded to finding all sorts of odd container-like items. They're a very... specialized geek

Mermay 23rd- Chosen.

I think this seal chose his new best friend! Speaking of choosing though, I finally did some research into copics and found that the watercolor paper I've been using all through this art challenge definitely contributed to my very dry markers. So I tried marker paper and can tell how much better this is already!

Mermay 22nd - Drummer.

It's not really Mermay without drawing a Seal-Maid! For the prompt, I thought of seals and their belly slapping, why it's practically percussion!

Mermay 21st- Comb. So this mermaid is based off of a type of comb jellyfish called a sea gooseberry - they have these light reflecting tendrils so they aren't really bioluminesent. So says Wikipedia! I have my little jellyfish mermaid brushing her colorful tendiles with a comb- just to drive him e that prompt.

Mermay 20th -Honeybee! I couldn't think of any bee-like fish, but a pufferfish mermaid wearing little bee wings? Perfect!

Mermay 19th- Worthwhile. This prompt felt a bit vague, but I liked the idea of a beach cleaner helping a mermaid get free of a fishing line. Im really happy with how this one looks!

Mermay 18th- prompt Flight. Went a little Lovecraft on this. I like to imagine this little Cthulu in the Bermuda triangle like a big, underwater sandbox where he plays with all the crashed planes.

Mermay 16th's prompt is Honored. This image is a bit of an odd jump off of that prompt, but hey, you would be honored to get a prize for your work... Right?

Mermay 17th is Dinosaur! I decided to make a Lochness monster type of mermaid.

May 15ths theme was Nurse! And of course we have to have a hospital nurse-nurse shark and a lolipop

I've been so behind in posting my Mermay pieces! For what it's worth, I have a few commissions done that I'm rather happy with! Back to our regularly scheduled Merms!

It's Mermay 13th - theme is Monday... And whoo boy it's feeling like a Monday. Am I saying that I am this worm, exhausted, at dead end job where I get eaten alive on a daily basis...... 😐 Haha
