"That’s really great," Emma smiled. It was amazing to see her knocking down every last demon. "Let me know when you finish okay? If I’m still around, I’ll keep an eye out for a better paying job for you." Feeling awkward about having even mentioned the possibility of staying for a year, Emma quickly grabbed her burger diving back into it. Would she still be here in a year?

"I will for sure, Emma." Ashley grinned back at her. "I'm sure you will still be around. I mean, you've been here this long already." She didn't see any reason why she wouldn't be here. Emma seemed to belong to her. "I can't help but count down the days till it's done with."

It wasn’t difficult to guess that even the most sturdy stomachs could be turned by a needle, so Rosalyn thought to change her tactic entirely. After all, she wasn’t heartless…and this was hard enough as it was without a squirming patient. “Tell me about your baby, Ashley—what’s their name?”

"Alexandra is beautiful." Ashley was super proud of her little girl. She had gone through hell to get her and she wasn't about to let anything change that. "Though she cries a lot. I think it's just because I'm always tired so it feels like more." She shrugged a little bit. "But she's still perfect in every way."

"Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there." Ashley took a step back, and readjusted her bag on her shoulder. She was tired, and had been in her own little world as she walked back from her class for the night. "I didn't hurt you did I?"

Emma smiled awkwardly, not really sure what more to say. “Its great that you were able to prove just how strong you are. And how capable you are of doing the one thing they all said you couldn’t.” She could see how tired Ashley was, but that definitely wasn’t all that was different about her. Honestly, Emma couldn’t help but feel jealous as she sat before the living proof of what she could have been ten years ago. “So how long do you have to go until you finish night school?”

"I have another semester or two I think. I'm just trying to get all my basics covered as quick as I can, and finish." She gave a small yawn. "I think once I get that taken care of, and maybe a different job that won't require such long hours for the money. Not that I'm not appreciative of Granny's help." Ashley rambled a bit and shrugged. "But there is still time to figure things out."

Lani smiled and nodded her head, “Good, I hope you do and you’ll get a free drink on me.  You’ve earned one, I think.”  She hug her a bit more before pulling back, “You’re a good mom and you can tell you love her by how you are.  Someone who didn’t care wouldn’t have been upset like you were.”  She took a breath and gave a small wave, “I’m not too worried about being late.  It’s not a normal thing for me so, I doubt one night I’ll get horribly in trouble for.  Have a good night though.’

Ashley just nodded again and smiled. "Alight, I'll make time for you, and come and see you." She was kind of excited at the idea of another friend to have around. "But I'll see you later. Have a good night at work."

"If you can handle being a mother, you can handle a tiny needle." Rosalyn murmured, giving a small smile as she prepped Ashley’s skin. "Though I’ll see what can be done about possibly getting you a cherry or blue raspberry flavor instead."

"Now we're talking. Cherry is my favorite." She smiled and wrinkled her nose just a bit at the thought of the needle. She didn't really mind, but no one actually liked needles. Except, maybe drug addicts. "Alright, I think I can handle it."

"Hey I just told you what I wish someone would have told me back then. You did all of the real work here." It sucked to have it confirmed that Sean was about as useless as Neal had been, but Emma should have suspected as much. Shrugging her shoulders, she lazily dipped her fries into a bit of ketchup. "I guess that depends on your definition of interesting. Most people would say my life before Storybrooke was more interesting. What with always being on the move, catching assholes who left their families behind in debt.”

"Well still, I really am thankful for it." She said with another smile. "Well I think it's interesting. Then again, I'm the person who barely has time to breathe much less have a life. It's alright though. It's honestly a little self gratifying to know I'm doing it." She sighed and shrugged. She did really wish that Sean had come around, but he was still being controlled by his family. She didn't expect him to ever be in Alexandra's life.

She smiled and nodded, “Alright, then I’ll be by to see how you’re doing soon and the same goes for me.  If you need to talk you can even just send a message to the bar and I’ll get away for a bit if you’re needing some help or even just someone to talk to.” Cara knew she might not be the first person she’d think of for something like this but, she wanted to let her know she was here for her now and would help her however she could and that she’d let her.  She took a breath though, “I should probably get going before I’m late though.  It’s been nice talking with you though and your little one is adorable.”  She gave her one more hug, “You’re doing a good job with her.”

Ashley just smiled and nodded her head. "I will, for sure. I might even be able to get away one night and come see you or something." She didn't have an extensive amount of friends now so she took what she got. "Thank you though. She is my angel and I love her." She hugged her back. "But go, I don't want you to be late."

Emma frowned slightly at this news. She’d been really hopeful that maybe, just maybe, Sean would step up and be a father. “Well, hey you have my respect for juggling it all on your own,” she said, half hoping that Ashley would interject that Sean was helping. Hell, even if he was involved, she’d still be impressed with Ashley’s growth from the frazzled girl she met in the laundry room. Setting down her burger, Emma shrugged slightly. “Just working, trying to spend as much time with Henry as possible. Learning how to live with a roommate, nothing even half as intense as what you’re doing though.”

"I do what I can. I owe it to you for reminding me that I could and helping me. I can never say thank you enough for what you did." She smiled a soft smile, head perking up a bit when she talked about herself. "Of course it's all interesting. I mean, you have this whole new life to get used to. That's definitely interesting."

"No, you don’t have to eat the jello, but I really must insist on the blood sample…"

"And no, eating the jello isn’t a viable bargaining chip."

"It would be so much better if it were a decent flavor. But lime isn't exactly my favorite." Ashley wrinkled her nose a bit as she pushed the jello away. "I guess if I have to give blood, let's get this over with."

"Alright, I’ll stop by sometime then and visit you.  As long as you won’t get in trouble for the discount.  I know how some bosses are. I mean I’m sure Granny is really sweet but, still.  I’m glad I stopped by today.  It’s been nice talking with you and you can ramble all you want when I’m around, anytime.  I promise it won’t be said to anyone else either."

"Oh no, I won't. As soon as I tell Granny what you did, she'll definitely be right there with me. I just don't get to talk to people very often. I mean, Alexandra is a great listener, but she can't exactly talk back."

Nothing pleased Emma more than knowing that a girl so like her was able to pull off what she herself had felt was the impossible. “That’s great,” she managed to get out before Ashley rushed off for her food. A few moments later she smelled the delicious dinner plate with a rumbling stomach. “Thanks, fries and a burger should always be Granny’s special. So fill me in, what’s happened in the past… however long it’s been.” Weird, she couldn’t even remember how long she’d been in this town. Shrugging mentally, she shook away the thought and dug into her burger.

Ashley let out a small sigh and smiled. "Oh, not a lot. Okay, maybe a ton." She laughed and shrugged. "I've been going to school. Which is a lot more work then I thought. But it'll be worth it if I can get something that can support me and Alexandra without me having to work a ton of hours. And of course, working here a ton. Granny has been a huge help though with working with me. It's the baby sitting that gets hard to keep steady. What about you?"

"I’m sure it isn’t easy but, really I don’t mind helping you out every now and then so you can get away for a little bit."

"You’re just fine.  I like hearing about you and seeing if I can help at all.  I’m not the best at it but, I do try.  We did exchange names after you came downstairs but, I’m Lani.  You don’t need to apologize either, you’re under a lot of stress right now.  It’s okay."

"Right, Lani. I'm so sorry. I'll remember that. But alright, if you're sure about that. I mean, I guess I'm just kind of used to rambling on with people. I do it a lot at the diner. You should come get food sometime and I'll give you a discount. Always willing to help those who help me."

"It’s no problem, I can’t even begin to imagine how much you’re going through right now."

"I’ve been alright, how about you? How’s life with a baby going?"

"Alexandra is doing really great. She cries a lot though. Which isn't so great when I'm trying to study. But oh, right, your food. Hold on, I'll be back."

"Here you go. Hot cocoa extra cinnamon, and a special, which is a burger and fries, but shh. It's extra special when I serve it. And I need a break, so I'm going to join you for a minute. So life's been good?"

"I wasn’t.  Yeah, I just meant you could find me there to talk to me about that sort of thing.  I wouldn’t mind giving you a night to get out and do something though.  I’m sure you need it especially if people are being awful and treating you the way you’ve been saying."

"I’m sure if you needed to you’d do just fine.  I can see where getting flustered easily could be a bad thing though.  People can be a bit on the crazy side there but, they’re all harmless, for the most part."

"I'll keep that in mind. Some nights get hard because little miss doesn't like sleeping for some reason."

"I probably could, I guess you're right. Oh god, I've been talking so much about myself again. Wait, did I even get your name? I'm Ashley. I'm so sorry, everything has just been really... difficult lately."

"Ashley, hey, it’s good to see you again."

"But uh, no I haven’t heard about today’s special. I’ll just take a hot cocoa with cinnamon and whatever the special is I guess."

"Oh my god! Emma! I'm sorry it's been a long day, I didn't even recognize you."

"Of course though, I'll get that and be right back with it. How have you been by the way?"

"Hi! Has anyone told you our specials for today? Also what can I get you to drink?"
