I am reading Marilyn Manson's book, The Long Hard Road out of hell and, he just made a very good point and I'm not entirely sure he meant to.
In the early days when the band was Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, they had girls in cages, they beat each other and the one girl, Nancy and had bags of you animals that emptied out "blood" and "intestines" on the crowd and in all this the only concern was that they were hurting animals but nobody batted an eye at the activities going on during the show towards the girls or the crowd. That is something he had mentioned in the book.
What if the shocking behavior towards the people involved in his shows was to point out that people don't care about each other. People enjoy seeing others uncomfortable and in pain etc so they turn a blind eye to it.
I love MM and I am surprised thus has never occurred to me because I've been a fan since 14yrs old and I'm 26 now.
