I left you where they would see you and pick you up. You were still alive. Fresh and sweet smelling. Just as beautiful as the day you arrived. I remember we carried you over the threshold full of excitement. Happy to eventually get you home. He wasn't that interested in dressing you, didn't like the fuss and the time it took. I didn't want to get rid of you but I had no other choice. I was told to, by my other half at home. He'd had enough of the chaos and the mess. He wanted it back to the way it used to be. I had no choice. I walked past you and pretended you weren't mine. I wanted to pick you up and take you back home and find a way of washing the dirt off you. I promise next time I will make better choices. I'll pay the extra tenner for the smaller one. Then I'll be able to watch you grow from my back door step for the next three hundred and thirty days.
