I was telling my dad about how there are always hermits in Arthurian stories, just, you're out on a quest and you need directions or to recover from a wound so you look for the nearest hermit because there's usually one around. My Dad said "Like gas stations" and I have not been the same since

My Dad would like me to clarify that part of his point was that a few hundred years from now, when gasoline is no longer in use, someone could read media from today and think it's silly how there are so many gas stations handily about, seems a bit unrealistic don't you think? And by the same reasoning, maybe random hermits were actually that plentiful in the 1200s. (I love him for putting so much thought into this.)
