documenting and experimenting with activist and socially engaged figures from the 1930′s 60′s 70′s 80′s – present in particular Women of Color who were at the forefront of movement such as the Black Panther Party.  The Party has since been documented & recreated from many artist such as Emory Douglas. I decided to add modern elements of topography to the intellect and beauty of figures such as Angela Davis. There’s not only a power in the oration and action of Angela, but a grace and admiration in the way she maneuvered.

for the past year, I’ve been inspired by ideas of black feminism, androgyny, recreating society’s gender roles, and how topographic elements can transform these social constructs into a spectrum of pride.
