Did yet another deep dive into the story of Atlantis so here’s some more lore for Alanis (the character)!
In the story, Atlantis was a continent-sized island created by Poseidon for his ten demigod sons. Although it was located in the Atlantic, Atlantis conquered areas of Europe, North Africa, and Asia. Though it was really successful at first, its government became more and more corrupt until their army faced Athens. Athens managed to defeat Atlantis, and Atlantis lost all of its territory and their island sunk into the ocean.
So, how does this tie into Alanis’s (her human name) lore?
Along with the ten demigod sons, Alanis was born to represent Atlantis as more of a political figure or noble. She’s also Ancient Greece’s younger sister, but the two didn’t talk often. (This also means that she’s Greece’s aunt!) She lead many of Atlantis’s armies, helping conquer the areas mentioned before. However, as time went on, she became more greedy for land and power, going as far as to betray her older sister. Athens’s army managed to overpower the one Alanis was leading, leading to her first major military loss.
While almost all of her soldiers were killed or taken prisoner, Alanis fled to the highest ground she could find, which was a nearby cliff overlooking the sea. Ancient Greece (I headcannon her name is Helen) found her there, where she confronted her younger sister. Helen yelled at Alanis, telling her how greedy she was, how cowardly it was to abandon her army like that, and how disappointed she was in her. Alanis argued back, but she soon realized that her sister was right. However, before she could apologize, Helen shoved her off the cliff in a fit of rage, causing Alanis and her land to plummet into the sea.
The gods, specifically Poseidon, heard about this and sunk Atlantis into the sea. Now, Atlantis had no army and no land, yet she was still alive with nowhere to go (Think Prussia/Gilbert) Alanis took one of the boats that her army had brought to Athens, but with no army left to row it, she was left drifting aimlessly at sea for thousands of years, losing all memory of the great empire she once represented
One day, Alanis’s boat washed up on the shore of present-day Greece. She got off of the boat, where she met her nephew, Greece/Herakles. She had never met him and had no idea he existed, yet she felt he resembled someone she couldn’t quite remember.
So yeah Alanis is basically chilling with Greece since she’s lowk homeless
