I'm backkkkkk not really
I'll be back sometime at the end of May. That is the official word friends. I will be off hiatus at the end of May. Be ready. Also, please still love me.
ooc: Gonna be pretty much on hiatus for another couple weeks
Still sorting out job stuff + college stuff and figuring out how my schedule works. I'm putting everyone I know I owe in my drafts tho and I'll work on those when I have time. Sorry for the inactivity
Patience || James and Charles
"There’s no real point in my going round here and doing nothing. I’ll be fine," He reassured the professor that was sat in front of him, pushing one hand through his hair as the silence and inactivity that he was doing, apart from working with his own memories, were unnerving him. He needed some time to distract himself.
Glancing down at his arm for a moment, he examined the metal of his palm before giving a small shrug. “There’s an EMP that I can use that will knock out electronic devices, but I don’t really know much,” He admitted with a small shrug of his shoulders. I know it’s stronger than a human’s.”
"Then it looks like you need to use the Danger Room yourself," Charles said with a small laugh. "Perhaps I should give you the way in. I understand that perhaps…it's a little soon to trust you with a way in but it's more productive for you to be there I think than out here."
Charles got to his feet and nodded towards the door. "I can key your eyes to the retinal scanner now if you'd like. Unless you…think you can sleep now? Whatever you want really. We're both stuck up late after all and I don't mind taking an extended break."
Rima nodded then slammed her tiny body into the jammed door, forcing it open, falling onto her knees. She muttered a curse then sighed in relief. "I've found him, come give me a hand, he's heavier than what I can carry." She called out calmly.
Charles raised an eyebrow and then knelt before hooking his free arm under the young man's legs and straightening. "So I'm assuming from your lack of panic, he's okay. Where exactly are we taking him??"
Slowly getting to replies
Very. Slowly.
Those who are different
Lana sighed and sat on the windowsill with her legs folded. “The rebellion can crumble to dust for all I care, but I have to return to my brother. He’ll blame himself for my disappearance.” She put her chin on her knees and continued. “We had to quickly reach the planet at the other side of the galaxy, so we had to fly through the centre of the galaxy. We had imperial ships on our tail, but I chose the wrong course and got caught by the black hole. He escaped, I hope.”
Lana gave him an understanding smile. “The problem is the parts, not the mechanic. I wouldn’t be the best pilot of my galaxy, if I didn’t know how to fix my ship. It may take some time, though. I almost crash-landed here on Earth.”
Charles couldn't help his look of surprise. "And yet we're still trying to get to the moon. I guess it's encouraging known we'll get there eventually." He propped his chin up on one hand, leaning on the table. "I'm afraid I can't help you with parts. If you have any specs on how to build anything, I'm sure Hank and I could…try and get something workable. Maybe a few test drives before you take off. No sense in crashing back to Earth after all."
He got to his feet and leaned against his cane. "I'll do what I can to keep you safe while we find a way to get you back home. I think with your help, we could get something working that we could at least try and contact your brother."
Quinn looked at her phone chewing her lip a little. Should she call him or not? Work was all done, and she really didn't have much else to do. So taking a deep breath she called Charles.
Charles didn’t notice his phone ringing at first, too engrossed in the finances he had finally started to tackle. When he saw it was Quinn, he couldn’t help a smile as he picked it up. “Hello, Quinn.”
Quinn smiled softly, reaching out she touched his hand gently. “Thanks Charles….” she then squeezed it gently. “You shouldn’t feel like you should change either, like ever. You’re a wonderful person.”
"I'm not so sure I am but…I appreciate the sentiment regardless. Are you busy? We can go for a walk or something if you'd like?" Charles asked with a small shrug.
"It’s quiet. Unless he’s sleeping he’s not here." She answered softly slipping inside, darting down the hall then up the stairs, moving quickly as she searched the house.
"Can you sense him professor?"
Charles reached out with his mind. The mind of a vampire was harder to get a grasp on, though still possible, it was just a matter of adjusting to a brain that was slightly different. "There's someone here but I can't get a good read on them. They could be unconscious?"
He frowned, pressing harder but it was as if whoever it was was just out of reach. "They might not even be here, perhaps further out. I'm not sure how big this mansion is."
Adjusting || Cassander and Charles
The kisses seemed to get more passionate as time went on between them on the floor of the danger room. Cassander started to focus on what he was doing- learning and adapting to what Charles seemed to like best in the kisses and putting his own.. not twist, but style to it. He was glad for a moment that Charles wasn’t moving his hands- this was already a bit of a sensory overload. And Christ Charles if wasn’t perfect before….
The love hit him like a brick wall. It probably shouldn’t have with how much Charles told him. But to feel it in his own mind and have it echo back to Charles made his heart beat fast, brain fog and hand go into Charle’s hair. He started kissing like the other man was his oxygen, that he was the one and the only one who’d ever made his heart sing like this. And that was absolutely the truest thing he’d ever realized. But the panic set in and he pulled back from him, panting and swallowing thickly. He hadn’t realized he was in tears and he stopped, resting his head on Charles’ shoulder to hide it. "I’m so sorry." He’d probably just ruined the best moment of his life with the one person he felt anything for by bursting into tears. How absolutely embarrassing…
Charles reached up to cup Cassander's face when he pulled away, sensing the turmoil in the younger's mind. Without hesitation, he wiped away Cassander's tears and then wrapped his arms around the man when he leaned up against Charles' shoulder, rubbing his back as soothingly as he could.
"You have no reason to apologize, Cassander. Truly. I don't mind pushing your boundaries, but only the ones where I know you can do better. This is something you need to tell me when it gets to be too much, and I'm glad that you did. It's a good sign," Charles said. He kissed Cassander's forehead. "But perhaps it's best if you go get some rest for now. You've had a long day and I don't want to tire you out too bad. If you're ever going to be ready to handle these missions, rest is the most important thing you need."
Patience || James and Charles
Shaking his head, he released the coffee mug that was between his hands and looked over at the other. “No, it’s not you. You’re not patronising.”
He looked over at the other as he listened to what he had to say, giving a small nod afterwards. He knew that he had to do something to aid the other, otherwise he didn’t think it was all that fair that he was staying here free of charge. “I could train them if you wanted me to, I know how people work and I can tell peoples strengths and weaknesses,” He finally answered him with a small shrug of his shoulders. “Because everyone has them and they can be sorted out.”
"Oh, good then," Charles said with a smile. He thought over what James said, smile widening a bit when he realized that James actually did want to help. "I'm glad you're willing. Of course we won't start until you feel you're good and ready. I would hate to rush you after all."
He leaned forward on the table. "And you should know that if you do this and you find it isn't really working out for you that's okay too." Charles' eyes flicked down to James' metal arm. "Does your arm have anything special it gives you? Besides added strength or something like that. I don't mean to pry, but I am curious."
Those who are different
"Not my religion," she corrected. She knew Luke very well and still had a hard time to believe in some of the stuff he was telling. "Genocide… Yes, that’s a good word. The war, or the great civil war as we call it, took thousands of lives, and hurt millions more. We were a republic once. A man called Palpatine was gaining more and more power, and when he became the Emperor, he decided to get rid of his Jedi problem. He and his student Darth Vader started with the younglings. Over a 100 children were slaughtered in the temple. Then, when order 66 happened all the other Jedi were killed, and with them all those who resisted," she paused and looked away. Her parents were such people. She didn’t remember them at all, Han had only some vague memories. That’s why she didn’t engaged in the resistance for so many years. If only her parents had thought about their children instead of politics, non of the further events would’ve happened. She wouldn’t have known pain and fear, at least not that kind. "There were a few rather peaceful years, but now the war is on again. After they destroyed Alderan… oh, I’m forgetting you don’t know what I’m talking about. The Emperor built a battle station as big as your moon, maybe even bigger, and just to show off his power he destroyed the entire neutral planet with a single blast. My older brother got involved and me too, because someone had to watch over his sorry ass. But I’m here by accident, it was not what I planned."
"It sounds like you left behind quite a mess then," Charles said, then frowned at his word choice. "I didn't mean to imply that you were running away, more that you escaped something very, very dangerous. I guess I'm just curious as to whether or not you plan on going back. Battle isn't for everyone so I would hardly begrudge you for staying, even knowing all you've told me." After all, Charles spent a lot of his time running, and he knew some would still argue that he was; running from the inevitable stand off he would one day have to have with Erik. "I'm not sure I could help you get back there even if I wanted to. Hank is quite the inventor but I'm not sure he'd be able to help much and machines were never exactly my forte."
ooc: just so you know I haven't gone missing
I've got stuff in drafts and I'll get to it over the next few days. I'm packing and moving in to my new place so yeah.
Quinn smiled again blushing a little bit at the compliment. “Thanks Charles.” She looked up at him. “You really seem to always be able to make me feel better.” she finished up her coffee. “I’ll keep working on being a bit more social.”
"Don't push yourself more than you're comfortable with," Charles said with a frown. "I don't want you to think that I think you need to change. You're quite fine the way you are, if you don't mind my saying."
Patience || James and Charles
"I know bits about history," He answered, pressing his lips into a thin line. He couldn’t remember the things he had been taught in school all those years ago, but, he had lived through a fair bit of history, so his knowledge wasn’t exactly useless to the current world. “I never said that you were, you haven’t ordered me around yet.”
Looking over at him, he pressed his lips into a thin line as he thought about the offer that the other was giving to him. Whilst he could remember the fact that he was a trainer in the Red Room, but he was sure that he wasn’t the kindest as he had made sure he trained everyone to the high standards. Even if they were hurt, he’d made them get back up to their feet. “Maybe, but not now,” He answered with a shake of his head. “But surely they use their powers in their fighting style to make an advantage?”
"Sorry," Charles said with a wince. "I know I can sound patronizing sometimes I just really want to make sure you know that you're free to do as you want here."
At James' next words, he had to pause and really think. Yes, James was human and yes that meant his fighting style was drastically different than what his students used, but that didn't mean his skills weren't useful to them. "Think of it this way. With our mutations, we can become predictable in how we fight, especially if we rely too heavily on a certain strategy. It makes us day to neutralize. The Danger Room can adapt to those strategies, which is helpful, but something a bit slowed down instead of learning on the fly could prove useful to them." Charles laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Besides, sometimes I think my students could learn a bit of humility."
Those who are different
"The Force is… complicated. The Jedi are complicated." She had a problem with explaining this to him. A few years back she hadn’t even believed that something such as the Force could even exist, but now she knew and liked one of the most powerful Jedi in the history. "Once there were many," she started slowly. "It was a powerful order created to protect my galaxy. Luke says that many others were force-sensitive but only those who had a talent could’ve been trained. He says that the Force isn’t just a power - it’s something that lives in every living creature, guiding their lives. Sounds a bit too religious, I know," she said with excusing smile. "He says that me and my brother are also sensitive, whatever the hell that means, but we can’t do those mind tricks. But now… there’s nothing left of the order, only legends and myths. Who would’ve guessed that the purge happened only 25 years ago."
"It sounds rather complicated yes," Charles said. "And while I am a man of science first, that doesn't mean you can't put stock in religion either. The universe is big enough that it's hard to rule out anything as a possibility." He frowned at her next words though, and he folded his hands together on the table. "I'm assuming by the purge you mean…genocide. Could I ask what happened? I imagine that's what brought you here, though feel free to correct me if I'm wrong."
