In universe marks and meaning Ask-DunderClan revamp update 1
In the Clans, each kit is born equal.
But throughout that kit’s life, there are times and events that shape a kit as they grow up. Maybe a sibling passes, their parents scorn them, a friend drifts away.
Yet as long as that kit can grow and experience life, the marks they gain will stay with them and change along them.
Today, we talk about the marks of the Clans; and how they are expressed through body placement.
The Rank Marks
The 5 tip Star: The Mark of a Leader.
The 4 leaf Clover: The Mark of a Deputy.
The Diamond: The Mark of a Warrior.
The Circle/Dot: The Mark of an Apprentice.
The Swirl: The Mark of a Kit.
The 4 tip star: The Mark of a Medicine Cat.
The Heart: The Mark of a Queen/King.
The Placement of Marks
The Forehead:
Kits always have their marking on this spot or the chest.
The marking on a chat lets others know that they prefer thought over emotions. These cats are always considered the best choice alongside chest marked cats as they see less movement of the marking, the better the cat’s judgement upon others.
But this can be backwards, as the more bias a cat can be when not open minded to others outside their circle.
The Ear:
A cautious cat as they use the words of others to shape their perception on the world. Some are optimistic while others may be the polar opposite.
They will not strive to move out of their comfort zone unless pushed by another or convinced to listen to a new view point.
The Nose:
A cat with a nose marking for any rank is a thoughtful soul who looks for better options despite the bleak outcome of a situation.
It is speculated by those without the mark, that a cat with the nose marking is somehow more inclined to smell better prey and are mostly given leading roles in hunting parties or patrols to smell potential threats.
The Cheek:
And emotional mess. There is nothing more annoying to the Clans than an emotionally driven cat. As the marking has caused issues in the past. Whether be a scorn lover or a disheartened leader-
When a marking is on the cheek, a cat is more likely to be swayed by any emotions that go against their morals.
The Chest:
The strongest point for a mark, considered by all Clans.
A mark on the chest is a sign of strength, something that tells all cats that the cat with mark will be the best to assess a dilemma. They are considered strong leaders, and such many Leader will be known for this marking.
The Front Leg:
The sign of a weak cat, and considered the weakest leak in a Clan. This mark placement concerns cats when seen early in life, and is usually a sign to Leaders and Medicine Cats that the cat may not be able to live much outside the camp.
These cats are kept to camp work, hunting parties, or most likely- taken under the Medicine Cat role to avoid fights.
The Back Leg:
Considered a weird mirror to the Font Leg marking.
They are strong warriors that are always put on the front lines of a Clan war.
Their bravado is only as strong as their body. Of which cats of this marking sometimes dies due to over fighting or taking one too many risks.
The Back:
When a marking is found on the back, it means a cat is regretful for their rank. Mostly Queens or Leaders get this mark placement.
But it also is a scorn as the placement is not seen by them, but by their clanmates. A marking like this seen by the Clan draws doubt.
The Top of the Tail:
A mark like this tells the Clan their loyalty is fleeting. This marking is not always permanent, but temporary as sometimes the placement is caused by bad decisions, bad turnouts, or even a failed relationship.
Clanmates are always talked to then this mark occurs.
But it also may forebode the leave of a cat.
The Tip of the Tail:
When a marking is found on the tip of a tail, it means it’s the last thing they hold in high regard.
The placement tells people that in a certain way, they no longer care.
This mark placement is seen with Warriors, Deputies, or Queens.
The next ask should be answered soon. I’m just a big stupid baby and I really need to figure out how to properly manage my time between house work and laptop work.
Here’s the pose meme! If you, too, draw cats almost exclusively in the same three poses, have your followers send in a character and a number to help mix it up!
