A Much Needed Meeting
Miriel grinned at her husband as she cocked her head, eyes widening innocently. ”Ai, Finwë, I seem to have forgottena few details myself. But I do remember that I had been walking in the forest before being tackled by a very loveable elf.”
She walked over to the bed, pushing a few things out of the way, then sat on it, folding her legs under her. Resting her chin on her hand, she continued, “This elf knocked me over and fell on top of me, and I couldn’t get up.” She smirked at him and said in a very innocent tone, “But the rest seems to have slipped into the back of my mind, what with all the lives I must watch. Perhaps you remember?”
Finwë paced the room as Míriel recounted the tale. “Ah, so was like this?” he said when she was done. He made a funny little dance around in his room, miraculously avoiding tripping on the various objects lying about. But on the last move right before he pounced, his foot caught on to some rope, and he fell on top of Míriel.
“Ai! Well, that was unplanned,” he said, laughing. “But we were like this, I remember now! After we had fallen down, we gazed into each other’s eyes for what seemed like an eternity. And then I asked you if you would mind if I kissed you, and you said yes. We closed our eyes, and I ended up kissing your eyelid!”
She laughed and kissed the tip of his nose. ”Yes, you silly elf, you did. And then I believe we decided to have another go at it, and you got it right that time. If I remember correctly, we actually managed a somewhat properly done kiss.”
Looking up, smiling, she wrapped her arms around his strong shoulders and murmured, “Wasn’t it something like this?” before kissing him gently, almost chastely. A teasing tone in her voice when they broke away, Miriel commented, “But I seem to have forgotten the rest still. Can you remind me?”
Finwë closed his eyes as she kissed him, taking his mind back to that forest. When he opened them, Míriel lay beneath him looking as she did since their wakening, though no trees surrounded them. No matter. The walls would keep them hidden from curious eyes.
"Yes, it was like this," he said softly. "And then I kissed you again -" and he brought his lips to hers, deepening the kiss this time before continuing - "and I placed my hand over your chest and said, "our heart is racing. I wonder why."
