Luke was walking through the halls of the Imperial Palace. Seeing what Palpatine had done to the Temple, feeling the dark side almost everywhere here, and almost hearing the whispers of the fallen Jedi, itâs almost too much for Luke. But heâs here on a mission. Gather the Jedi relics that Sidious had hoarded and bring them to his new temple.

Mara frowned as she sank into her old masterâs chair. She had a feeling she knew why the force had pulled her here. Vengeance. It was finally time.
She spun around to look at the wall. It was easier than imagining his weathered face staring forward sitting in the same place she now did.
She understood why he kept all these relics around. It was comforting. The dark could be comforting. It came at her from all sides. Fueling her. Sustaining her.
Footsteps were coming. She could sense the lightâs presence.
âAlmost time Skywalker.â She hisses under her breath.
She should have killed Vader when she sensed his weakness. She should have been her masterâs apprentice. She never would have betrayed him.
âCuriosity.â Luke answered honestly. âAnd I wanted to find some Jedi relics, hopefully a holocron or two. I may be a Jedi Master, but I still have a lot to learn about the old Jedi Order.â
âWe hide in here.â Han said pulling up the false floors of his hidden cargo holds. âThe imps fall for this trick every time. Itâs how we got on the Death Star when we rescued you.â
âI suppose there is much to learn in their defeat.â She allows. âKnow thy enemy.â
She looks at him for a moment.
âYou seem to have only inherited the weakest parts of your father⊠I knew him. He helped train me occasionally. He told me your mother grew up on Naboo. Like my father.â
Like me.
âI may know more about her than I did Vader. He was very closed off. More than most Sith.â
-
âIf you wanted to be in a room alone with me fly boy all you have to do is ask. Surely you know that by nowâŠâ Leia sasses.
âTrue. I learned that a suspicious clone army was a big blind spot.â Luke admitted. âBut Iâm talking about their past. Like three hundred years ago when famine gripped Alderaan and the Jedi sent food and healers there before the republic senate decided on anything. Or when a ship called the Legacy Run exploded in hyperspace and its fragments were causing destruction, the Jedi were at the first of these emergences and stopped it from destroying an entire Star system.â He pointed out calmly, as if talking to a student. âThe Jedi were more than just warriors, they were teachers, healers, diplomats, and councilors.â
Han froze. âUhâŠâ he said imagining him and Leia inâŠsituations. Chewie chuckled as he climbed into a hidden hold carrying Artoo and lowered the floor of the main corridor over him, leaving one just for Han and Leia.
âMaybe you take more after your mother. After all she was too weak to even handle childbirth. Or maybe you killed her. An accident of course. Tell me Skywalker have you ever sucked the life out of someone before? Itâs very easy to do. Especially when you think youâre in danger. And after all whatâs more frightening for a baby than the exit from the womb?â Mara asks.
If he were to look back at her he would see her eyes faintly glowing in the dark.
âDo you even know her name? The name of the woman you killed?â
-
Leia hops down slowing her fall with the force and giving Han an impish grin.
Luke stopped moving. He glanced back at her, his eyes cold. He wanted to give in to his anger and hit her. Hard. He took a breath and calmed down. âHer name was PadmĂš Amidala. Elected Queen of Naboo at fourteen, their youngest but most successful and beloved ruler. Became Senator at twenty-three, was an advocate for peace when everyone else cried for war. But despite that, she was a skilled fighter and a quick thinker. Best friends with Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore, a mother like figure to Anakinâs Skywalkerâs apprentice Ahsoka Tano, and respected by even her enemies.â He said, his voice filled with emotion.
âAnd it wasnât me who killed her. It was both my father and the Emperor.â He added opening another grating, dropping into the room, and throwing the guard into the wall, knocking him out. He then ran over to his lightsaber and put it on his belt, and grabbed a simple leather necklace adorned with a crimson kyber crystal and put it on.
âShow off.â Han muttered as he closed the compartment. There is a faint light so they can see each other. âCareful, itâs a bit cramped in here.â He said as he put his arm around her waist.
Mara graces him with a devilâs smile. Eyes glowing stronger now. Sheâs feeding off his rage.
âThey Padmeâs wardrobe. Iâll be sure they make their way to your sister once you are dead.â
âNo it was fully Sidious. But itâs nice to know you have any passion at all Jedi. Maybe there is hope for you yetâŠâ
She vanishes into the shadows. The saber flying off its resting place.
âIt wouldnât be very sporting to kill you now. We shall have to set another time for it.â Her eyes glow from the shadows where she stands. And she uses the force to open the door.
She pauses. âYour sister is hereâŠâ she laughs. âNow she⊠she feels like Vader. Iâd like to meet her. You have my word I wonât kill either of you today. I have people to get home to as well. And much work to do. Thanks to you and your little friends.â
Her eyes look less evil and more tired now.
Family. She had them. Though not her parents anymore. Her mothers. Her many mothers. Women used to luxury not hardship. She allows him to sense them. Not to see their faces. He can faintly hear the children.
âGood luck, she took to lightsaber combat better than I did.â Luke muttered, he then sensed Leia and the Falcon coming into the hanger bay.
He also sensed the images she was projecting. The New Republicâs Intelligence network was doing its best to find those poor women and get them to safety, he felt increasing sympathy for the women and children.
âCome on, letâs go meet up with Leia.â He said walking past her in the corridor. âOh, just one thing. Try to hurt any of my friends in any way, and Iâll make an angry wookie look as peaceful as a womp rat in the middle of the day.â He threatened calmly.
âItâs cute that you think you can threaten me. Youâre about as threatening as a wet womp rat.â She chuckles.
âBut I gave you my word. I will kill you later.â Mats steps out into the light of the hallway.
Sheâs speeding past him. To a guard he hasnât noticed. Thereâs a horrific crunch as she snaps his neck. She looks down at the corpse for a minute clenching her fists.
She rolls her neck and then takes the lead. Her hips swaying in a hypnotic way. She draws her saber and uses the force to open another set of doors. She takes a stance that he recognizes from Vader.
Thereâs a wave of the feeling Leia had at the hands of Jabba. And then Mara is moving like lightening. Slicing. Dicing. Limbs falling to the floor. Sheâs far ahead of him in the new hallway.
-
Leia is quiet as she watches the boots above the grate. She puts her hand on Hanâs chest for comfort. Doing her best not to think of the last time she saw storm troopers.
Luke winces as he follows her trail of destruction. Whenever he finds troopers or officers who are too injured to move, he kneels down and uses the force to alleviate their pain. Putting them to sleep until they either died, or got medical attention.
Han keeps his eyes upward on the troopers. Although his hand does wander downward to Leiaâs behind. He gives her a smirk and a flirtatious wink as the troopers complete their search, waiting a minute before pushing the covering of the compartment.
Mara huffs turning back to him. Heâs so slow.
She uses the force to pull him towards her.
âYouâre wasting time. Letâs not get your sister imprisoned too. Sheâs suffered enough under Vader.â Mara says seriously. She glances over at a fancy looking statue on a pillar and swipes it. Sticking it in her satchel.
âDocks are this way. Iâve been on a similar ship before.â She says taking point again.
-
Leia rolls her eyes. Not the time Han⊠and then climbs out after him.
âTheyâre getting closer I can feel it.â She informs him.
âI canât do nothing for them!â Luke snapped. âIâm a Jedi master, I have an obligation to help even my enemies. You donât want me to slow down? Then make it a clean kill then.â
âWell said Master Skywalker.â A calm calculating voice said over the shipâs intercom. âLady Jade, Senator Organa-Solo, and General Solo, a pleasure to welcome you all to my ship. If you are unaware, I am Grand Admiral Thrawn.â
âWhat do you want Thrawn?â Luke asked looking at the ceiling. Thereâs a determined look on his face.
âWhy, simply for you and your friends to see a surprise I have in store on the bridge. I suspect Lady Jade would want to see it, for it is the key to rebuilding the Empire.â Thrawn said cryptically. âI give all of you my word that you shall make it to the bridge unmolested. All troopers and officers are ordered to continue on as if there isnât a Jedi in our ship.â
âRight. Yeah.â Han said unbelievingly as he was able to hear Thrawnâs announcement on the speakers, even from inside the Falcon. âThis smells like a trap.â
Jade looks over at Luke. She takes his hand for a moment.
*Letâs get off this ship and blow the station.* she uses the force to speak into his mind.
*I have to kill you I donât have to rebuild what you and your friends demolished. I wonât want to*
-
Leia frowns. âNo kiddingâŠâ
Luke thinks about it for a moment. Then shakes his head. âWhatever Thrawn has itâs likely too dangerous to just blow up.â He said out loud. âIâm going to the bridge. To arrest Thrawn and stop his weapon. Blow me up with the ship if you want, but Iâm going.â With that he marched down the corridor to the elevators.
âSorry Leia, but I have to see what Thrawn has in store.â He muttered, knowing that Leia will get the message thanks to their link in the Force.
âWhat do you want to do Princess?â Han asked getting nervous. âIâm with you no matter what.â

Best friends with Duchess Satine Kryze of Mandalore, a mother like figure to Anakinâs Skywalkerâs apprentice Ahsoka Tano, and respected by even her enemies.â He said, his voice filled with emotion.

âI donât care what you want. Your mercy is unwanted and will not save you. And your pity only enflames my hate Vader. You arenât better than I am. Chosen one or not.â She seethes.
Because I was never chosen. What I wouldnât give to be wanted as more than a weapon.
But her fire is fading despite what she said. Sheâs tired. Sheâs only human.
She blinks and a tear rolls down her face.
âYouâll regret sparing me. Thatâs a promise.â
The sound of a ship landing outside pulls her from her focus.
âYou called for backup?â She asks Luke. âIâm flattered. But I canât stick around.â
âNo I didnât. Artoo?â Luke asked his droid.
Artoo beeps in the negative. âThen we have a problem. Artoo, get back to the ship and ready it for takeoff. If something happens to me get Han and Leia.â Luke instructed. As Artoo quickly wheeled out Luke called his lightsaber back to his hand. âListen, Palpatineâs got some kind of hold on you. Iâm sorry that he had to die but he was the closest thing to pure evil Iâve ever met. But if thatâs not a friendly then weâre gonna have to work together for now. Deal?â
âNo.â Mara replies. Moving swiftly to kick his leg and ruin his stance. Using all her might to move her saber again.
The sound of footsteps is the last thing she hears. Thereâs a sharp pain in her neck and she sees something flying towards Luke.
And then nothing.
Hours later she wakes up on the cold hard floor of a cell.
She groans and opens her eyes. Only to find sheâs chained to Skywalker himself.
âGood morning.â Luke said glumly. âBefore you ask, no I did plan this.â
He then sighed and leaned back against the wall, heâs sitting as far from her as possible. âOh, weâve been captured by Imperial Remnants by the way. And they took our lightsabers.â
âGreatâŠâ she goes to use the force to help her sit up. But canât. Instead sitting up on her own.
âWhat? Where is it?â She sounds genuinely panicked. âItâs gone!â She turns to Luke eyes wide and clear. Palpatine has no hold on her.
Her eyes are so lovely when they arenât filled with hatred.
âWhere is what?â Luke noting her eyes. âThey searched us when we got captured. Whatever youâre looking for is probably with our lightsabers.â
He sighed again. âWe might be here a while. Might as well get comfortableâŠI donât think youâve told me your name now that I think about it.â
âI somehow doubt they confiscated the force Skywalker.â Mara retorts.
She sighs. Moving closer to him so the chains werenât tugging.
âMy name is Mara Jade.â She replies. âAnd if you wouldnât be dead weight while Iâm trying to escaped youâd be gone already.â
She goes quiet a moment.
âYou might of heard of my other title. The emperors hand.â
âOhhhhh, thatâs youâŠâ Luke said in realization. âI thought you were either a myth, a really good ISB agent, or an Inquisitor.â He admitted.
âMara Jade, thatâs a pretty name.â He complemented. âAnd it is possible to confiscate the Force if youâre using a relic to access it. Did the Emperor ever give you anything? An old relic or a piece of jewelry?â
âThanksâŠNo. I was born force sensitive.â Mara replies.
âCan you use the force right now?â She asks.
Luke tries to use the force to pull her closer, just to see if he could no other reason, but couldnât. âKarabast.â He cursed. He then looked up and saw a lizard like creature looking down at them. âIâve read about those.â He said pointing up. âBack in the Old Republic, when the Sith Empire was still around, if there was negotiations of any sort between the two, representatives from both sides would bring those creatures to create a force-neutral bubble. Theyâre called Ysalamiri.â He explained.
She nods. âI know. My master told me about them. I think theyâve been underutilized lately. Good to see them being used again. Though the circumstances are less than idealâŠâ
âLeave it to me⊠most guards are men. Iâm sure I can at least get myself released and Iâll come back for you. I made a promise and I must fulfill it. Itâs nothing personal. And I wonât hurt your sister. I just have. One more job to do.â She sighs tiredly.
âForce Iâm so tired.â
âBeing under the control of what most call a mind trick would leave you tired.â Luke said offhandedly.
The door then opened and two stormtroopers came in, each carrying a tray of food into the cell.
Mara rolls her eyes. Then shifts as the troopers walk in.
âGood morning boys. Why donât you stay in here a bit and we can have some fun?â She purrs. âOr better yet help me ditch the Jedi and Iâll show you both a good time.â She looks up through her lashes.
Luke couldnât help the jealous look he gave her when she started to seduce her way out.
âShut up prisoner.â The trooper closest to Mara snapped, its voice a womanâs voice. The trooper then kicked Maraâs leg, set the tray down, and walked out. The other trooper following suit, kicking Luke just for the fun of it.
âHope you two are tough, the Grand Admiral wants the two of you to survive interrogation.â The trooper said, also a woman, just before the door closed.
âThe offer still stands if you change your mind ladiesâŠâ she calls after them.
âEh- worth a shot. Thrawn⊠okay two more kills. You and Thrawn. The blue Bastardâs had it coming for a while.â She sinks back against the wall next to Luke.
âWell⊠any bright ideas Skywalker?â She asks.
Luke looked thoughtful for a moment. âItâs a long shot with the Ysalamiri right there, but itâs worth a shot.â Luke said before crossing his legs and closing his eyes, looking like heâs meditating. âLeia.â He whispered softly, trying to use his connection as her twin to contact her. âLeia, find usâŠâ
Meanwhile on Coruscant Artoo suddenly bursts into Leiaâs office screaming. âArtoo Deeto! You know better to barge in when sheâs in a meeting!â Threepio exclaimed following the Astromech. âForgive me Mistress Leia, but Artoo said itâs an emergency.â
âGreat. Because thatâs so helpfulâŠâ Mara huffs. Glancing around for cameras and finding none. She reaches into her hair and pulls out a pin. Pulling it apart with her teeth.
Leia chuckles. âItâs just Han. Whatâs wrong?â She frowns. âItâs Luke isnât it? Show us please R2â
âWell itâs either that or we wait for Artoo to show up. Wouldnât be the first time he did a one-droid rescue.â Luke said thinking of the time his friend stole his X-Wing to save Threepio.
âHey, Iâm hurt that itâs just me.â Han chuckled lightly.
Artoo beeped and showed a hologram of Luke and a woman, heâs saving the fight itself for later when they can all enjoy it. He showed the woman getting his with a dart of some kind and passing out, Luke trying to use the force on the attacker, who in the hologram is revealed to be Grand Admiral Thrawn, but not being able to call it, and getting stunned for his efforts. âOh dear.â Threepio fretted. âMaster Luke is in peril, oh I knew he shouldnât have gone to the PalaceâŠâ
âLuke went to the Imperial Palace alone?!â Han exclaimed. âHeâs supposed to be a Jedi master, whatâs he doing walking into traps? And who was that woman?â
Mara fiddles with her chains and opens it easily.
âYou still want to wait on a rescue?â She sasses. Moving to lean over his chain and focus on it. Her hair brushing against his face.
âI donât know who she is but Luke likes her.â Leia smirks. Strange though⊠it seems he canât use the force⊠Han. This might be a straight normal rescue. Get Chewie and letâs go save my idiot brother.â Leia says grabbing her blaster.
âWell, we should try to do something.â Luke admitted, trying not to think about how she seems more beautiful when sheâs out smarting him.
âAlready on it.â Han said calling Chewie and explaining the situation.
Artoo beeped determinedly. âArtoo says that heâs coming along whether you like or not.â Threepio translates. Artoo beeped again causing Threepio to gasp. âArtoo Detoo watch your language! You canât say that to the Princess!â Threepio admonished hitting Artoo on the dome.
Thereâs a click and the cuffs fall off of him.
âRight⊠we could probably strangle it with the chainsâŠâ she muses. âCould you give me a boost? Do you think that thing would fight back? Iâll admit I was only half listening when my master told me about itâŠâ
âOf course you are! Youâr wth the toughest droid Iâve ever met! I know R2⊠heâs an idiot but heâs our idiot. And Iâm betting judging by the look on his face that he was a bit distracted by that woman right? Youâll have to tell us more about her on the way over. He wonât get hurt. We wonât let anything happen to himâŠâ she gently rests her hand on his head.
â3P0. If you want to stay youâre more than welcome. If something is messing with the force itâs very dangerous. And you need to be here if something happens to us.â
âWait you want to kill it?!â Luke exclaimed looking up at the creature. âCome on, we canât!â
âYes, I think Iâll stay here.â Threepio decided. âMaybe I could be of help to Chancellor Mon Mothma.â
Artoo beeped at him annoyed. âNo, I am not scared Artoo!â Threepio exclaimed defensively. âI just believe that someone should stay at the office.â
âWhatever goldenrod.â Han said dismissively. âChewie says the Falconâs fueled up and ready to go. Now letâs hope Luke remembered to turn on the tracker he put in his hand.â Han reported.
âItâs it or us!â Mara exclaims. âYour father was Vader can you at least pretend to have a spine?â
She paces the room like a caged tiger.
âPlease.â Itâs a command. Sheâs not asking. Itâs unclear if she knows how to ask.
âWell if he didnât the one I put in while he was sleeping is on. Letâs go!â Leia replies.
Luke sighs. Then he lights up like he has an idea. âOh blast! Canât believe I forgot about this!â He exclaimed taking his glove off. He opens the panel in his wrist and tweaks with something in it. âAnnnnnnd, there! My tracker is on, Artoo should be receiving the signal!â
As they were boarding the Falcon Artoo beeped excitedly. âSounds like heâs got Lukeâs signal.â Han said with a smirk. âYouâŠyou didnât tag me with a tracker, right?â He asked nervously.
She rolls her eyes.
âFine Iâll⊠do it myselfâŠâ she says marching over to the bed and trying to drag it my herself to the middle of the room.
âDonât suppose you have a screwdriver in that hand of yours do you?â Mara asks.
âNot yet.â Leia replies kissing his cheek. And sitting down and buckling in.
âItâd be handy if I did.â Luke punned with a sigh.
Han has a look of pure fear on his face. Both Artoo and Chewie laughed at it as the Falcon went into lightspeed.
Mara looks murderous.
âGet your Jedi ass over here and help me with this. Your hand canât bleed like mine can.â Sheâs clearly pissed off that she has to ask for help.
Leia sighs and checks her blaster over.
âTheyâre moving. They must be on a shipâŠâ
âClearly you donât know how synth flesh works.â He muttered as he stood up and walked over to her. âDonât notice the perfume, donât notice the perfume.â He thought as he got close. âWhatâs the plan?â
âGreat. That could mean itâs a warlord or an admiral thatâs got him.â Han muttered. âWhich means, Star Destroyer.â At this, Artoo lets loose a squeal that sounds like âuh oh.â
âI need this to be unbolted. So I can move it closer to⊠Nevermind if it would hurt your hand I have a better idea. You still wonât boost me?â She asks. Looking over the wall. Then upwards. And she smirks.
âWeâve handled worse⊠and if whoever has him wants Jedi⊠well they donât know Iâm not one⊠I have a saber.â Leia smirks. âYou can hide in the cargo hold.â
Luke looked up at the grating. âSo long as youâre not gonna kill what Iâm assuming to be an endangered species, then I can give you a boost.â He conceded.
âHell no youâre not!â Han exclaimed. âNo way am I letting my wife take on a Star destroyerâs worth of troops on her own!â
She huffs.
âIf I wasnât ordered to kill you myself Iâd let you die here.â After saying that she shoves him towards the bed and backs up to the other wall. Before sprinting up the wall and reaching up towards the bars.
With a grunt of effort she contracts her abs and sticks her legs through the grating to hang there upside down.
âKriff. I should have grabbed the chains first⊠oh well we do this the old fashioned way.
She uses the grates like monkey bars and swings closer to the creature. Taking another break to hang by her legs.
âIâm really going to enjoy killing you.â She informs Luke. âIâve never met a more useless man in my kriffing lifeâŠâ she grumbles. As she swings her arms up to try and figure out how to strangle the thing.
She goes to hang by her hands again and moves her legs up to wrap around the creatureâs throat.
Leiaâs eyebrows shoot up.
âYour what?â
âYouâre gonna fall.â Luke sighed looking up at her. âAnd Iâm gonna laugh.â
âWhat? Didnât I give you the ring already?â Han asked confused. Then seeing the look on her face he turned to Chewie. âDidnât I?â Chewie shook his head no. âKriff! I knew I forgot something!â He shouted running out of the cockpit towards the captainâs cabin.
âYouâre distracting me.â Mara retorts. Getting her legs around the poor creature and strangling it. The creature struggles and her legs slip at the same time as her hands.
âKriff!â
âDoes⊠he know that it takes more than a ring to be married?â Leia whispers to Chewie.
Luke moves under her quickly and catches her. âHow about we ignore the Ysalamiri and climb out into the corridor and open the door from that end?â He asked raising an eyebrow.
Chewie shakes his head no and Artoo gives a beeping laugh.
Maraâs eyes widen. Her face going for a moment as red as her hair.
âBecause genius. The grates are too smallâŠâ she looks upwards. âI mean Iâm flexible. But not that flexible. UnlessâŠ.â She thinks a long moment.
âOkay. Fine but youâll need to boost me.â Mara replies.
âHan. Sweetheart⊠this can wait. Besides donât you want all our family to be here? Letâs make sure Lukeâs safe alright? I want to be able to enjoy this.â Leia calls.
âAlright.â Luke said going over to the wall and bracing against it, readying himself to give her a boost up.
Han walks back into the cockpit looking dejected. âAlright.â He sighs. A little bit later they exited hyperspace and saw an imperial star destroyed. âI know those markings.â Han said as he caught a glimpse of the markings on the underside of the hull. âThe Chimera. Grand Admiral Thrawnâs ship. Looks like General Syndulla was right about his return.â
Mara sighs and goes over to the chains.
She grabs them and wraps them around herself sort of like a climbing rope.
Then she takes a look at Luke. He was sort of handsome⊠it was a shame she would have to kill himâŠ
Focus for forceâs sakeâŠ
She takes a running start and as he boosts her she leaps at the same time. Going up into the vent and bracing herself against it. Shimmying her way up with a few grunts of effort.
She disappears over the edge and stops for a moment to catch her breath.
Thereâs the sound of movement as she shuffled away. Then an annoyed groan and then the chain comes down.
-
Leia sighs tiredly. âForce⊠why canât we have a nice normal day? Alright Iâm gunna get my blaster and my saber. Are you ready?â
Luke climbs up the chain, and pulls it up behind him. The Ysalamiri watches judgmentally. Once heâs in the droid duct, he hears soft music, and grins knowing what it is. âI sense where they put our things.â He whispered to Mara. âFollow me.â
âBecause youâre Jedi?â Han guesses. Chewie gives a soft roar, possibly suggesting another theory. âThatâs a good one too buddy. Yeah, weâre ready.â Han adds going into the main corridor and opening the hidden smugglerâs hold.

âWhere is what?â Luke noting her eyes. âThey searched us when we got captured.

She never would have betrayed him.
âI donât care what you want.

She never would have betrayed him.
âI donât care what you want.
And they took our lightsabers.â

âShut up prisoner.â The trooper closest to Mara snapped, its voice a womanâs voice.
@ask-luke-skywalker-rp
She never would have betrayed him.
âI donât care what you want.

"Im trying, uncle Luke! Are you sure you weren't the one asleep?" Ben whines
âDo or do not Ben, there is no try.â Luke said wisely. âCome on, you can do it.â

Luke smirked. âYeah that one took me a while to figure out too. But it was one of the best lessons Master Yoda gave me.â He admitted.
"Are you sure that was an actual lesson?! He sounds crazy!" Ben argues, already tired and upset and the day has barely begun. Starting his training later on in life has done no good for his attitude
Luke sighed, then sat down across from Ben, and closed his eyes. Almost immediately the stones started to float, along with the large boulder at the edge of the clearing, Artoo, and Luke himself. Then after a moment everything was set back down gently. âItâs thanks to that lesson that Iâm able to do that.â He explained opening his eyes. âIâll give you some time to figure out what that phrase means. If you canât, Iâll explain it to you.â
His face falls more seeing what his uncle can do. He feels like he'll never be that strong. "What if I never get the hang of it the way you want...? Dad doesn't even believe in the force and he's been around you and mom for years"
âIt takes practice Ben.â He said reassuringly. âI struggled to lift my X-Wing at first and now I can lift even heavier than that.â
âTell you what, use another hour to practice some more, then Iâll take you to Naboo for a treat. Deal?â He offered with a smirk.
Ben sighs and nods, "fine..." There's anxiety bubbling into resentment inside him. He's never been good with the emotional aspects of the force, just like the grandfather he idolizes
âBen, I can feel your anxiety from here.â Luke said kindly. âBreathe. In through the nose, out the mouth. Thatâll help you focus.â
Ben closes his eyes and breathes how he's told. "Sorry, uncle... it feels like its been getting worse lately..."
âI know. But you have nothing to be anxious about here.â Luke said reassuringly. âYouâre already parsecs ahead of the other students. In fact, I think youâre almost ready for the next step in your training.â
"I feel like I'm behind..." he mumbles, furrowing his brows. "I mean, all those stories you've told me of the old jedi sounds like by my age every padawan was being knighted..."
âObi-Wan was in his 20âs when he got knighted.â Luke pointed out patiently. âYoda was in his sixties, but since his species age more slowly than most others I donât think thatâs a good example.â He admitted with a chuckle. âAnd I was 23 when I finished my training. Youâre seventeen Ben, you got time.â
He then sensed someone approaching and smiled. âIsnât that right Ahsoka?â He asked with a smile.
"Sure is. You're using your family as your benchmark, but kid your family is like no other. Skyguy was the youngest and least mature jedi knight in the order ans never got the rank of Master. I was never knighted, just made an honorary general when the war got worse after I had already left the order," Ahsoka explains as she sits down with the boys.
"How can you speak so casually about grandfather and use such an immature nickname?" Ben asks in shock.
"Oh, calm down, he liked that nickname. I never did tell ya who trained me, did I?"
"I assumed Master Plo Koon did, since you two seemed to have such a close relationship," Ben furrows his brows.
"Nope. Anakin trained me. And lemme tell ya, he wouldn't have stood for any of your self image issues, you would have learned confidence the same way I did, with a whole battalion of clones shooting stun rifles at you for days on end. We were child soldiers, Ben, we didn't have time to learn at our own pace. You do. Take your time, don't rush," she smiles reassuringly at him. "When you finally get your first real lightsaber you'll be a lriper padawan capable of being taken on by a master... had I finished my training I would have loved to take up the honor, but its not my place. I made my choices and the force took me in a different direction"
Luke nodded. âBen, if you ask Artoo nicely heâll show you recordings of his adventures with Father and Ahsoka during the Clone Wars.â Luke said with a teasing smirk.
âAnd Ahsoka, Iâve told you many times that if you want to join the Order that Iâm building, you are free to do so.â Luke offered. âI see you as a Jedi Master anyway. So if you want to take a padawan from my students youâre free to do so.â
Ben's eyes light up, "do I have to finish my training first?"
"Have you watched some of those old training recordings? Are you sure you want me teaching any of these kids? Because I'd get Rex involved, and they will end up needing medical aid more than once under my care, especially with the way I used to train with Rex and the others in the 501st," Ahsoka chuckles. "Maybe think a little longer on that before a kid ends up in a week long coma from training against blaster fire while being surrounded"
âYes Ben, you have to finish your lessons and chores today before Artoo will show them.â Luke said chuckling at his nephewâs eagerness.
âCanât be worse than learning the lightsaber forms in a gladiator pit from a stormtrooper that was taught by Vader himself.â Luke pointed out to Ahsoka with an amused smirk.
Ben scrambles to his feet and goes back to his training.
Ahsoka chuckles, "you know sometimes it sounds like you forget that very little of your father actually changed when he turned to the dark side. You're right, I didn't learn like you did, I learned directly from your father as he was falling. I learned the forms directly from Anakin, just before his worst, in the middle of the war, with the entire 501st at his disposal to surround me ans fire their blasters until I collapse on the floor unconscious to train my body to recover faster and faster and withstand more and more. That training and the resistance of just a few of the clones I called my brothers are the only reason I survived order 66," Ahsoka reminds him somberly. "You're father's training methods didn't change much"
âI heard he wasnât afraid to cut limbs off the inquisitors.â Luke commented as he watched Ben run the course. âAhsoka, may I speak with you about something?â He asked softly, so Ben wouldnât overhear.
"Of course, Luke, anything," Ahsoka looks over to him. "Except your parents love life"
Luke gagged at the thought. âNo, not that.â He said struggling to keep his composure.
âItâs about Ben.â He said covering his mouth, making it look like heâs stroking his beard as he watches Ben train. âI fear something is pulling him to the Dark Side. It only started recently and already heâs more anxious, and his anxiety quickly becomes anger.â
Ahsoka frowns, looking over at Ben again. "Then perhaps I should be the one teaching him... the Daughter gave me her life, and I worked with your father, who better to ground him to the light than the light itself and remind him that his grandfather wouldn't want him to follow in his footsteps?"
Luke nodded. âNormally Iâd agree with you, but weâre at the point in training where itâs counter productive to change teachers.â He admitted. âBut, Artoo says that Master Kenobi also had a hand in your training, maybe we could co-teach?â He suggested. âWe could also call Fatherâs spirit to keep an eye on him at night. Thatâs when the influence is at its strongest I fear.â
Ahsoka smirks, taking a deep breath before, "Force, it sure is a shame the Skywalker line doesn't know real fun anymore!"
Anakin appears next to her, "you take that back!" His blue ethereal form shimmers in the light as Ben faceplants in the background
Lukeâs laughing. âOh man, I needed that laugh!â He said after a moment. âBen, come over here and meet the spirit of your grandfather!â
