Which choice would Morgan decide? Take Alex’s hand or kill him? *ending*
Morgan thought for a moment."That would all depend. Killing him would really lead to nothing, though. Taking his hand is like telling him he's won and that he was in the right the whole time. But I would rather that than a death that wasn't needed."
(I'm bored out of my mind, here's an ask) On Morgan's trip through the Neuromod division he hears the loud crash and a yelp of something hitting the computer monitors. From the sound of it the source wasn't Typhon nor Operator so it was probably safe to go and check
Morgan stopped and took a quick look around with his Psychoscope, soon allowing for himself to take it off over his eyes and ventured toward the sound. He was unsure what it could be, but he sure hoped it was some other survivor on Talos I.
When he found the cause of the noise it was a woman a few years you get than himself in the fetal position rubbing her injured side. She wore a dull orange jumpsuit with the brand “Aperture science” labeled on it and held a strange white device with her other hand. She didn’t hear Morgan approach over her own groaning but when he was close enough she looked up at him weakly
He was confused about the jumpsuit and gun, but decided not to question it in order to fix up her injured side. He took out a medkit he had stashed away in his inventory and proceeded to fix her up.
“This should help you almost instantly,” his voice held a concerned tone, yet at the same time, relief. “Might I ask, who are you?”
Chell sat up and took a deep breath, hitting whatever assortment of computers she hit had knocked the breath out of her. She nodded in thanks to the stranger in the red space suit before responding
“My name is Chell, where am I..?”
He stood up and packed away the few things he took out to get to the medkit, also making sure, EXTRA sure to keep his shotgun in hand.
“You’re on Talos I. Do you happen to have family that… was here or something of the sort like that?”
“I don’t rember my family to be honest and I doubt they’d be anywhere this nice. I was on Earth just a moment ago but now I’m guessing were in space judging by that gitup of yours..”
He looked down at his uniform and pack on his back meant for space.
“Yeah, Talos I is in orbit. It is… it was a research station, but since the breach, it’s been hell for everyone on here. I honestly don’t know how or when the breach happened since I was stuck in a simulation until recently.”
“Breach of what? What happened here that was so bad?”
In her case ignorance was bliss but she needed to know or else take the risk of falling into a Mimic’s clutches thinking it was only a mug
“They were researching an alien species that we call Typhons. They come in too many forms for my taste, but the smallest of them is a Mimic. It can take on the form of any item that is about its size and mass. So, a mug for instance. They love to transform into those.”
He picked up a nearby mug, which he found to be safe, to show her an example.
“…so they could be anywhere on this thing? Why couldn’t they just be friendly..?”
She clearly wasn’t looking forward to her stay on Talos 1 and hoped there was a way off for her to take.
“That’s what I ask myself every second I’m still on this thing.”
He pondered for a moment.
“Your jumpsuit. Are you from another facility with different types of testing? I’ve never heard of this Aperture place before.”
“The facility I belonged to was constructed to test out the effects of portals, I always assumed they were trying to find ways for long distance travel but I doubt it..”
Chell shrugged, Glados, the machine that held her captive, hadn’t told her much about WHY they were so animate about portals
He perked up immediately.
“Portals? Like the type that you could basically open up a ‘doorway’ between two far off places?”
“Yes, exactly. That’s what the device in my hands does but at first it could only open portals on surfaces infused with moon rocks but after some tweaking it can work on almost anything..”
“So do you think we could use it around the facility?”
“Most-likely, at least until I find a way off this thing. It could make travel easier but if I knew how to use it as a weapon it would work better around here..”
“If you just find the highest place in a room and open another portal under a Typhon we’ll be golden.”
He got up and looked at his PDA thing (don’t know what it’s called). He glanced at the map a few times before turning it off and placing it back in his pocket.
“There’s an escape pod that’s still functional on the ship. We should be able to get to it, but the only problem is I don’t know where the key is.”
“Is there a place where the keys are stored or do you think someone has the key with them? Either way it’ll be hard to find whatever key we need but still..”
“I had found a voice recording that had two people discussing getting to the escape pod, though I don’t think either of them made it. One of them probably has the key.”
“Well, might as well start looking then. The station might be giant but maybe we’ll get lucky or something..”
“Let’s hope.”
He pulled out his Transcribe again and looked at the map while also listening to the recording again. Morgan made sure to pay attention to locations they mentioned as well.Then he finally knew where to go.
“We need to head to the Arboretum. That’s where the key is.”
“Lead the way, where is the ‘Arboretum’ anyway?
Chell was eager to get off the station but she had no idea what it’s layout was so she was utterly lost. She hoped Morgan would let her know do things could go quicker
“From here, we need to get to the Lobby. I fixed the lift earlier so it should be in working order, and we can skip using the Guts, especially since you’re not correctly equipped to go out there. From there we will either have to stop on Level 3 of the Arboretum if it won’t go up to Level 4, where my brother Alex’s room is. That’s where we’ll find the Escape Pod key.”

She didn’t follow all of it but she understood she couldn’t go somewhere and they needed to go through the “lobby” to reach they’re destination. She hoped that there wouldn’t be many obstacles in their way but if there were she prayed for the best

“If the lift is blocked or broken again,” he spoke as they walked through Psychotronics, “we can use your portals to bring us to a higher location to get a work around. Until then, we can take the route I have in mind.”
“ok, that shouldn’t be too hard, I think..”
Chell followed Morgan through Psychotronics, watching for anything moving as they go. His description of the Typhons had began to paranoy her but there was nothing she could do about it
He had placed his Psychoscope back over his eyes and looked over the area a few times, still having the chip installed that allowed him to view disguised Mimics. He found nothing, thankfully, and they were able to leave the area, but the mumbling of a Phantom was present out in the hall. Immediately, Morgan crouched down, motioning for Chell to do the same as they moved, looking over the corner to watch what direction the Phantom went.
He whispered to her, “That there, that’s a Phantom. They’re dangerous when they see you, so killing them without their knowledge is best, or when they’re immobilized.”

“Jesus Christ, that things huge…if THAT broke containment what else is on this station?”
She definitely wasn’t going to announce her presence to the beast unless it was to trick it into a portal but maybe not even that. She would stay crouched behind Morgan until it was safe to move since she had ntber felt with sluens before

Morgan made sure to move to the next set of broken walls and motioned for Chell to follow. He then pulled out a Recycler Charge and threw it in the direction of the Phantom, it turning at the slight sound and charging up a beam attack at them. Before it could finish, the charge went off and seemed to create a vacuum that tried to pull in reality itself before “exploding” back to normal. The Phantom was no longer there as well as quite a few items, but little pieces of material were left behind.
Morgan stood up straight after he scanned the area for anymore of them.
Chell looked down at the small bits and pieces that were left over before turning her attention back to Morgan. She was absolutely dumbfounded at what had just played out and it was obvious by her expression
“What the FUCK was that?’
He held out a Recycler Charge to her.
“It’s a device that was created here. A Recycler Charge. It pulls in items and organisms in towards it and recycles them into material that we can use to fabricate ammo and medical supplies, as well as weapons. Of course, if either of us were to get close to it we’d be killed instantly.”
“…And I thought Glados made dangerous tech, this place is a death trap..”
She shys away from the device in his hand, deciding she’d rather not take her chances with an actual vacume of death.
“Sadly you can’t make helpful tech without making some that are deadly.”
He put the charge away and walked towards the door of the room, knowing there were more than likely more Typhons beyond it.
She followed close behind, ready to have something fall to it’s death via portal. If anything came at them and Morgan didn’t see it first she would gave her own chance to shoot
“If anything ends up jumping at me I’m going to flip a shit”

“Plan on that happening a lot.”
He pulled out his wrench, holding it securely in his hands.

“Oh yay, can’t wait to have a heart attack..”
Chell may have sounded just annoyed by the idea if being jumped at but in reality she was almost clinging to the back of Morgan’s suit in fear
They made their way through the door, Morgan putting on his Psychoscope to scan for hidden Mimics.
Chell waits for his verdict, planning how she’d get away if anything went array. She definitely wasn’t about to go and fight something without any experience and wasn’t about to start now
“As of right now it looks like nothing is here, but still be on guard,” he said, his voice a little uneasy. “They could show up at any point in time.”
He made his way farther into the room, but had taken his Psychoscope off in order to view things like a normal person.
“Got it, stay on guard..”
She didn’t touch anything she wasn’t sure was safe just in case. If it was proven like a safe medkit or even a stray pistol she’d take it but otherwise she didn’t leave Morgan’s side
Another Phantom roar resounded in the room. It had heavy footsteps as it walked around some high items, it’s vision of the two blocked.
“Oh shit, another ghost. Maybe we can sneak around if you don’t plan on butchering it like the other one..”
She had the portal gun aimed in it’s general direction. If it saw them and cane after she would put a portal under it’s feet so it could drop.
“If that’s how you want to handle this one.”
Morgan hid by one of the desks in the room, making sure to have a clear path towards the Lobby while the Phantom patrolled. It turned behind a wall, its view blocked for the time being.
Chell began to nervously sneak towards the lobby’s entrance while also keeping an eye on the Phantom that was patrolling the hall like a demented guard.
The Phantom seemed to not notice them still, whispering to itself about how it thought “we were alone in the universe” and similar things. Morgan kept his eye on it, making it to the door and standing, letting it slide open before he walked through and waited for Chell.
She came after him before looking up to the ceiling. She stood there thinking for a moment before shooting a portal up there and turning around to shoot one at the phantom’s feet. It wasn’t safe with this things around so she might as well make the trip back, if there was one, easier for them
The Phantom heard the sound of the portals being placed and fired up an attack before falling into the one by its feet. He howled angrily as it fell, eventually ceasing its complaints when it hit the ground below.
When the Phantom hut the ground she saw, to her surprise, something shoot right out if the mass of blackness. Chell went to check out what it was and ended up finding a silenced pistol and some Gloo cells. She had no idea how they got stuck in the Phantom’s body and looked to Morgan fur an explanation
“uh….how are these here?”
Morgan turned back to her.
“It was probably the Phantom’s before when it was human. They are created out of a corpse by a Weaver which gives them Typhon abilities, or by implementing too many Neuromods with Typhon material.”
“Oh great, this is both Alien AND the Walking dead, can’t get any worse than this..”
She wasn’t trilled that the alien wasn’t even fully extraterrestrial and definitely not since it was basically a zombie
“Trust me I’m not too thrilled with it either, but there’s nothing we can do but kill them.”
He gently took the GLOO canister from her to reload his GLOO cannon.
Chell checked the pistol, no idea how to shoot it or even handle it correctly. She fumbled around with it until the magazine eventually popped out into her hand, eight shots only.
“…this would be great if I knew how to shoot”
Morgan looked up and put his GLOO gun away before walking over to her and showing exactly how to hold it, shoot, and reload without getting hurt.
“You think you can handle that?”
“I…think so, let’s just hope I don’t have to use it right away”
She put the firearm in her jumpsuit pocket but not before putting it on safety. She would most-likely use her portal gun before using it but at least she had it
As they walked through the Lobby, one of the many small items in the room seemed to move out of the corner of Morgan’s eye. He decided to pull out his own pistol and shoot two rounds at the item, it dying after revealing it was a Mimic.
“Mimics must be all over the room if there was one so close to the door.”

“I don’t rember my family to be honest and I doubt they’d be anywhere this nice. I was on Earth just a moment ago but now I’m guessing were in space judging by that gitup of yours..”
He looked down at his uniform and pack on his back meant for space.
“Yeah, Talos I is in orbit. It is… it was a research station, but since the breach, it’s been hell for everyone on here. I honestly don’t know how or when the breach happened since I was stuck in a simulation until recently.”
“Breach of what? What happened here that was so bad?”
In her case ignorance was bliss but she needed to know or else take the risk of falling into a Mimic’s clutches thinking it was only a mug
“They were researching an alien species that we call Typhons. They come in too many forms for my taste, but the smallest of them is a Mimic. It can take on the form of any item that is about its size and mass. So, a mug for instance. They love to transform into those.”
He picked up a nearby mug, which he found to be safe, to show her an example.
“…so they could be anywhere on this thing? Why couldn’t they just be friendly..?”
She clearly wasn’t looking forward to her stay on Talos 1 and hoped there was a way off for her to take.
“That’s what I ask myself every second I’m still on this thing.”
He pondered for a moment.
“Your jumpsuit. Are you from another facility with different types of testing? I’ve never heard of this Aperture place before.”
“The facility I belonged to was constructed to test out the effects of portals, I always assumed they were trying to find ways for long distance travel but I doubt it..”
Chell shrugged, Glados, the machine that held her captive, hadn’t told her much about WHY they were so animate about portals

“Portals? Like the type that you could basically open up a ‘doorway’ between two far off places?”
“Yes, exactly. That’s what the device in my hands does but at first it could only open portals on surfaces infused with moon rocks but after some tweaking it can work on almost anything..”
“So do you think we could use it around the facility?”
“Most-likely, at least until I find a way off this thing. It could make travel easier but if I knew how to use it as a weapon it would work better around here..”
“If you just find the highest place in a room and open another portal under a Typhon we’ll be golden.”
He got up and looked at his PDA thing (don’t know what it’s called). He glanced at the map a few times before turning it off and placing it back in his pocket.
“There’s an escape pod that’s still functional on the ship. We should be able to get to it, but the only problem is I don’t know where the key is.”
“Is there a place where the keys are stored or do you think someone has the key with them? Either way it’ll be hard to find whatever key we need but still..”
“I had found a voice recording that had two people discussing getting to the escape pod, though I don’t think either of them made it. One of them probably has the key.”
“Well, might as well start looking then. The station might be giant but maybe we’ll get lucky or something..”
“Let’s hope.”
He pulled out his Transcribe again and looked at the map while also listening to the recording again. Morgan made sure to pay attention to locations they mentioned as well.Then he finally knew where to go.
“We need to head to the Arboretum. That’s where the key is.”
“Lead the way, where is the ‘Arboretum’ anyway?
Chell was eager to get off the station but she had no idea what it’s layout was so she was utterly lost. She hoped Morgan would let her know do things could go quicker
“From here, we need to get to the Lobby. I fixed the lift earlier so it should be in working order, and we can skip using the Guts, especially since you’re not correctly equipped to go out there. From there we will either have to stop on Level 3 of the Arboretum if it won’t go up to Level 4, where my brother Alex’s room is. That’s where we’ll find the Escape Pod key.”

He found nothing, thankfully, and they were able to leave the area, but the mumbling of a Phantom was present out in the hall. Immediately, Morgan crouched down, motioning for Chell to do the same as they moved, looking over the corner to watch what direction the Phantom went.
He whispered to her, “That there, that’s a Phantom. They’re dangerous when they see you, so killing them without their knowledge is best, or when they’re immobilized.”

He then pulled out a Recycler Charge and threw it in the direction of the Phantom, it turning at the slight sound and charging up a beam attack at them. Before it could finish, the charge went off and seemed to create a vacuum that tried to pull in reality itself before “exploding” back to normal. The Phantom was no longer there as well as quite a few items, but little pieces of material were left behind.
Morgan stood up straight after he scanned the area for anymore of them.
Chell looked down at the small bits and pieces that were left over before turning her attention back to Morgan. She was absolutely dumbfounded at what had just played out and it was obvious by her expression

She shys away from the device in his hand, deciding she’d rather not take her chances with an actual vacume of death.

He put the charge away and walked towards the door of the room, knowing there were more than likely more Typhons beyond it.
She followed close behind, ready to have something fall to it’s death via portal. If anything came at them and Morgan didn’t see it first she would gave her own chance to shoot

They made their way through the door, Morgan putting on his Psychoscope to scan for hidden Mimics.
Chell waits for his verdict, planning how she’d get away if anything went array. She definitely wasn’t about to go and fight something without any experience and wasn’t about to start now
“As of right now it looks like nothing is here, but still be on guard,” he said, his voice a little uneasy. “They could show up at any point in time.”
He made his way farther into the room, but had taken his Psychoscope off in order to view things like a normal person.
“Got it, stay on guard..”
She didn’t touch anything she wasn’t sure was safe just in case. If it was proven like a safe medkit or even a stray pistol she’d take it but otherwise she didn’t leave Morgan’s side
Another Phantom roar resounded in the room. It had heavy footsteps as it walked around some high items, it’s vision of the two blocked.
“Oh shit, another ghost. Maybe we can sneak around if you don’t plan on butchering it like the other one..”
She had the portal gun aimed in it’s general direction. If it saw them and cane after she would put a portal under it’s feet so it could drop.
“If that’s how you want to handle this one.”
Morgan hid by one of the desks in the room, making sure to have a clear path towards the Lobby while the Phantom patrolled. It turned behind a wall, its view blocked for the time being.
Chell began to nervously sneak towards the lobby’s entrance while also keeping an eye on the Phantom that was patrolling the hall like a demented guard.
The Phantom seemed to not notice them still, whispering to itself about how it thought “we were alone in the universe” and similar things. Morgan kept his eye on it, making it to the door and standing, letting it slide open before he walked through and waited for Chell.
She came after him before looking up to the ceiling. She stood there thinking for a moment before shooting a portal up there and turning around to shoot one at the phantom’s feet. It wasn’t safe with this things around so she might as well make the trip back, if there was one, easier for them
The Phantom heard the sound of the portals being placed and fired up an attack before falling into the one by its feet. He howled angrily as it fell, eventually ceasing its complaints when it hit the ground below.
When the Phantom hut the ground she saw, to her surprise, something shoot right out if the mass of blackness. Chell went to check out what it was and ended up finding a silenced pistol and some Gloo cells. She had no idea how they got stuck in the Phantom’s body and looked to Morgan fur an explanation
“uh….how are these here?”
Morgan turned back to her.
“It was probably the Phantom’s before when it was human. They are created out of a corpse by a Weaver which gives them Typhon abilities, or by implementing too many Neuromods with Typhon material.”
“Oh great, this is both Alien AND the Walking dead, can’t get any worse than this..”
She wasn’t trilled that the alien wasn’t even fully extraterrestrial and definitely not since it was basically a zombie
“Trust me I’m not too thrilled with it either, but there’s nothing we can do but kill them.”
He gently took the GLOO canister from her to reload his GLOO cannon.
Chell checked the pistol, no idea how to shoot it or even handle it correctly. She fumbled around with it until the magazine eventually popped out into her hand, eight shots only.
“…this would be great if I knew how to shoot”
Morgan looked up and put his GLOO gun away before walking over to her and showing exactly how to hold it, shoot, and reload without getting hurt.

(I'm bored out of my mind, here's an ask) On Morgan's trip through the Neuromod division he hears the loud crash and a yelp of something hitting the computer monitors. From the sound of it the source wasn't Typhon nor Operator so it was probably safe to go and check
Morgan stopped and took a quick look around with his Psychoscope, soon allowing for himself to take it off over his eyes and ventured toward the sound. He was unsure what it could be, but he sure hoped it was some other survivor on Talos I.
When he found the cause of the noise it was a woman a few years you get than himself in the fetal position rubbing her injured side. She wore a dull orange jumpsuit with the brand “Aperture science” labeled on it and held a strange white device with her other hand. She didn’t hear Morgan approach over her own groaning but when he was close enough she looked up at him weakly
He was confused about the jumpsuit and gun, but decided not to question it in order to fix up her injured side. He took out a medkit he had stashed away in his inventory and proceeded to fix her up.
“This should help you almost instantly,” his voice held a concerned tone, yet at the same time, relief. “Might I ask, who are you?”
Chell sat up and took a deep breath, hitting whatever assortment of computers she hit had knocked the breath out of her. She nodded in thanks to the stranger in the red space suit before responding

He stood up and packed away the few things he took out to get to the medkit, also making sure, EXTRA sure to keep his shotgun in hand.

Immediately, Morgan crouched down, motioning for Chell to do the same as they moved, looking over the corner to watch what direction the Phantom went.
He whispered to her, “That there, that’s a Phantom. They’re dangerous when they see you, so killing them without their knowledge is best, or when they’re immobilized.”

Morgan made sure to move to the next set of broken walls and motioned for Chell to follow. He then pulled out a Recycler Charge and threw it in the direction of the Phantom, it turning at the slight sound and charging up a beam attack at them. Before it could finish, the charge went off and seemed to create a vacuum that tried to pull in reality itself before “exploding” back to normal. The Phantom was no longer there as well as quite a few items, but little pieces of material were left behind.
Morgan stood up straight after he scanned the area for anymore of them.
Chell looked down at the small bits and pieces that were left over before turning her attention back to Morgan. She was absolutely dumbfounded at what had just played out and it was obvious by her expression
“What the FUCK was that?’
He held out a Recycler Charge to her.
“It’s a device that was created here. A Recycler Charge. It pulls in items and organisms in towards it and recycles them into material that we can use to fabricate ammo and medical supplies, as well as weapons. Of course, if either of us were to get close to it we’d be killed instantly.”
“…And I thought Glados made dangerous tech, this place is a death trap..”
She shys away from the device in his hand, deciding she’d rather not take her chances with an actual vacume of death.
“Sadly you can’t make helpful tech without making some that are deadly.”
He put the charge away and walked towards the door of the room, knowing there were more than likely more Typhons beyond it.
She followed close behind, ready to have something fall to it’s death via portal. If anything came at them and Morgan didn’t see it first she would gave her own chance to shoot
“If anything ends up jumping at me I’m going to flip a shit”

Chell waits for his verdict, planning how she’d get away if anything went array. She definitely wasn’t about to go and fight something without any experience and wasn’t about to start now
“As of right now it looks like nothing is here, but still be on guard,” he said, his voice a little uneasy. “They could show up at any point in time.”
He made his way farther into the room, but had taken his Psychoscope off in order to view things like a normal person.
“Got it, stay on guard..”
She didn’t touch anything she wasn’t sure was safe just in case. If it was proven like a safe medkit or even a stray pistol she’d take it but otherwise she didn’t leave Morgan’s side
Another Phantom roar resounded in the room. It had heavy footsteps as it walked around some high items, it’s vision of the two blocked.
“Oh shit, another ghost. Maybe we can sneak around if you don’t plan on butchering it like the other one..”
She had the portal gun aimed in it’s general direction. If it saw them and cane after she would put a portal under it’s feet so it could drop.
“If that’s how you want to handle this one.”
Morgan hid by one of the desks in the room, making sure to have a clear path towards the Lobby while the Phantom patrolled. It turned behind a wall, its view blocked for the time being.
Chell began to nervously sneak towards the lobby’s entrance while also keeping an eye on the Phantom that was patrolling the hall like a demented guard.
The Phantom seemed to not notice them still, whispering to itself about how it thought “we were alone in the universe” and similar things. Morgan kept his eye on it, making it to the door and standing, letting it slide open before he walked through and waited for Chell.
She came after him before looking up to the ceiling. She stood there thinking for a moment before shooting a portal up there and turning around to shoot one at the phantom’s feet. It wasn’t safe with this things around so she might as well make the trip back, if there was one, easier for them

“This should help you almost instantly,” his voice held a concerned tone, yet at the same time, relief. “Might I ask, who are you?”

“Yeah, Talos I is in orbit. It is… it was a research station, but since the breach, it’s been hell for everyone on here. I honestly don’t know how or when the breach happened since I was stuck in a simulation until recently.”

“I had found a voice recording that had two people discussing getting to the escape pod, though I don’t think either of them made it. One of them probably has the key.”
“Well, might as well start looking then. The station might be giant but maybe we’ll get lucky or something..”

Morgan hid by one of the desks in the room, making sure to have a clear path towards the Lobby while the Phantom patrolled. It turned behind a wall, its view blocked for the time being.
Chell began to nervously sneak towards the lobby’s entrance while also keeping an eye on the Phantom that was patrolling the hall like a demented guard.
The Phantom seemed to not notice them still, whispering to itself about how it thought "we were alone in the universe" and similar things. Morgan kept his eye on it, making it to the door and standing, letting it slide open before he walked through and waited for Chell.
(I'm bored out of my mind, here's an ask) On Morgan's trip through the Neuromod division he hears the loud crash and a yelp of something hitting the computer monitors. From the sound of it the source wasn't Typhon nor Operator so it was probably safe to go and check
Morgan stopped and took a quick look around with his Psychoscope, soon allowing for himself to take it off over his eyes and ventured toward the sound. He was unsure what it could be, but he sure hoped it was some other survivor on Talos I.

She wore a dull orange jumpsuit with the brand “Aperture science” labeled on it and held a strange white device with her other hand. She didn’t hear Morgan approach over her own groaning but when he was close enough she looked up at him weakly
He was confused about the jumpsuit and gun, but decided not to question it in order to fix up her injured side. He took out a medkit he had stashed away in his inventory and proceeded to fix her up.
“This should help you almost instantly,” his voice held a concerned tone, yet at the same time, relief. “Might I ask, who are you?”
Chell sat up and took a deep breath, hitting whatever assortment of computers she hit had knocked the breath out of her. She nodded in thanks to the stranger in the red space suit before responding
“My name is Chell, where am I..?”
He stood up and packed away the few things he took out to get to the medkit, also making sure, EXTRA sure to keep his shotgun in hand.
“You’re on Talos I. Do you happen to have family that… was here or something of the sort like that?”
“I don’t rember my family to be honest and I doubt they’d be anywhere this nice. I was on Earth just a moment ago but now I’m guessing were in space judging by that gitup of yours..”
He looked down at his uniform and pack on his back meant for space.
“Yeah, Talos I is in orbit. It is… it was a research station, but since the breach, it’s been hell for everyone on here. I honestly don’t know how or when the breach happened since I was stuck in a simulation until recently.”
“Breach of what? What happened here that was so bad?”
In her case ignorance was bliss but she needed to know or else take the risk of falling into a Mimic’s clutches thinking it was only a mug
“They were researching an alien species that we call Typhons. They come in too many forms for my taste, but the smallest of them is a Mimic. It can take on the form of any item that is about its size and mass. So, a mug for instance. They love to transform into those.”
He picked up a nearby mug, which he found to be safe, to show her an example.
“…so they could be anywhere on this thing? Why couldn’t they just be friendly..?”
She clearly wasn’t looking forward to her stay on Talos 1 and hoped there was a way off for her to take.
“That’s what I ask myself every second I’m still on this thing.”
He pondered for a moment.
“Your jumpsuit. Are you from another facility with different types of testing? I’ve never heard of this Aperture place before.”
“The facility I belonged to was constructed to test out the effects of portals, I always assumed they were trying to find ways for long distance travel but I doubt it..”
Chell shrugged, Glados, the machine that held her captive, hadn’t told her much about WHY they were so animate about portals
He perked up immediately.
“Portals? Like the type that you could basically open up a ‘doorway’ between two far off places?”
“Yes, exactly. That’s what the device in my hands does but at first it could only open portals on surfaces infused with moon rocks but after some tweaking it can work on almost anything..”
“So do you think we could use it around the facility?”
“Most-likely, at least until I find a way off this thing. It could make travel easier but if I knew how to use it as a weapon it would work better around here..”
“If you just find the highest place in a room and open another portal under a Typhon we’ll be golden.”
He got up and looked at his PDA thing (don’t know what it’s called). He glanced at the map a few times before turning it off and placing it back in his pocket.
“There’s an escape pod that’s still functional on the ship. We should be able to get to it, but the only problem is I don’t know where the key is.”
“Is there a place where the keys are stored or do you think someone has the key with them? Either way it’ll be hard to find whatever key we need but still..”
“I had found a voice recording that had two people discussing getting to the escape pod, though I don’t think either of them made it. One of them probably has the key.”
“Well, might as well start looking then. The station might be giant but maybe we’ll get lucky or something..”
“Let’s hope.”
He pulled out his Transcribe again and looked at the map while also listening to the recording again. Morgan made sure to pay attention to locations they mentioned as well.Then he finally knew where to go.
“We need to head to the Arboretum. That’s where the key is.”
“Lead the way, where is the ‘Arboretum’ anyway?
Chell was eager to get off the station but she had no idea what it’s layout was so she was utterly lost. She hoped Morgan would let her know do things could go quicker
“From here, we need to get to the Lobby. I fixed the lift earlier so it should be in working order, and we can skip using the Guts, especially since you’re not correctly equipped to go out there. From there we will either have to stop on Level 3 of the Arboretum if it won’t go up to Level 4, where my brother Alex’s room is. That’s where we’ll find the Escape Pod key.”

He found nothing, thankfully, and they were able to leave the area, but the mumbling of a Phantom was present out in the hall. Immediately, Morgan crouched down, motioning for Chell to do the same as they moved, looking over the corner to watch what direction the Phantom went.
He whispered to her, “That there, that’s a Phantom. They’re dangerous when they see you, so killing them without their knowledge is best, or when they’re immobilized.”

“Jesus Christ, that things huge…if THAT broke containment what else is on this station?”
She definitely wasn’t going to announce her presence to the beast unless it was to trick it into a portal but maybe not even that. She would stay crouched behind Morgan until it was safe to move since she had ntber felt with sluens before

He then pulled out a Recycler Charge and threw it in the direction of the Phantom, it turning at the slight sound and charging up a beam attack at them. Before it could finish, the charge went off and seemed to create a vacuum that tried to pull in reality itself before “exploding” back to normal. The Phantom was no longer there as well as quite a few items, but little pieces of material were left behind.
Morgan stood up straight after he scanned the area for anymore of them.
Chell looked down at the small bits and pieces that were left over before turning her attention back to Morgan. She was absolutely dumbfounded at what had just played out and it was obvious by her expression

He held out a Recycler Charge to her.
“It’s a device that was created here. A Recycler Charge. It pulls in items and organisms in towards it and recycles them into material that we can use to fabricate ammo and medical supplies, as well as weapons. Of course, if either of us were to get close to it we’d be killed instantly.”
“…And I thought Glados made dangerous tech, this place is a death trap..”
She shys away from the device in his hand, deciding she’d rather not take her chances with an actual vacume of death.
“Sadly you can’t make helpful tech without making some that are deadly.”
He put the charge away and walked towards the door of the room, knowing there were more than likely more Typhons beyond it.
She followed close behind, ready to have something fall to it’s death via portal. If anything came at them and Morgan didn’t see it first she would gave her own chance to shoot

He pulled out his wrench, holding it securely in his hands.

Chell may have sounded just annoyed by the idea if being jumped at but in reality she was almost clinging to the back of Morgan’s suit in fear
They made their way through the door, Morgan putting on his Psychoscope to scan for hidden Mimics.
Chell waits for his verdict, planning how she’d get away if anything went array. She definitely wasn’t about to go and fight something without any experience and wasn’t about to start now
“As of right now it looks like nothing is here, but still be on guard,” he said, his voice a little uneasy. “They could show up at any point in time.”
He made his way farther into the room, but had taken his Psychoscope off in order to view things like a normal person.
(I'm bored out of my mind, here's an ask) On Morgan's trip through the Neuromod division he hears the loud crash and a yelp of something hitting the computer monitors. From the sound of it the source wasn't Typhon nor Operator so it was probably safe to go and check
Morgan stopped and took a quick look around with his Psychoscope, soon allowing for himself to take it off over his eyes and ventured toward the sound. He was unsure what it could be, but he sure hoped it was some other survivor on Talos I.
When he found the cause of the noise it was a woman a few years you get than himself in the fetal position rubbing her injured side. She wore a dull orange jumpsuit with the brand “Aperture science” labeled on it and held a strange white device with her other hand. She didn’t hear Morgan approach over her own groaning but when he was close enough she looked up at him weakly
He was confused about the jumpsuit and gun, but decided not to question it in order to fix up her injured side. He took out a medkit he had stashed away in his inventory and proceeded to fix her up.
“This should help you almost instantly,” his voice held a concerned tone, yet at the same time, relief. “Might I ask, who are you?”
Chell sat up and took a deep breath, hitting whatever assortment of computers she hit had knocked the breath out of her. She nodded in thanks to the stranger in the red space suit before responding
“My name is Chell, where am I..?”
He stood up and packed away the few things he took out to get to the medkit, also making sure, EXTRA sure to keep his shotgun in hand.
“You’re on Talos I. Do you happen to have family that… was here or something of the sort like that?”
“I don’t rember my family to be honest and I doubt they’d be anywhere this nice. I was on Earth just a moment ago but now I’m guessing were in space judging by that gitup of yours..”
He looked down at his uniform and pack on his back meant for space.
“Yeah, Talos I is in orbit. It is… it was a research station, but since the breach, it’s been hell for everyone on here. I honestly don’t know how or when the breach happened since I was stuck in a simulation until recently.”
“Breach of what? What happened here that was so bad?”
In her case ignorance was bliss but she needed to know or else take the risk of falling into a Mimic’s clutches thinking it was only a mug
“They were researching an alien species that we call Typhons. They come in too many forms for my taste, but the smallest of them is a Mimic. It can take on the form of any item that is about its size and mass. So, a mug for instance. They love to transform into those.”
He picked up a nearby mug, which he found to be safe, to show her an example.
“…so they could be anywhere on this thing? Why couldn’t they just be friendly..?”
She clearly wasn’t looking forward to her stay on Talos 1 and hoped there was a way off for her to take.
“That’s what I ask myself every second I’m still on this thing.”
He pondered for a moment.
“Your jumpsuit. Are you from another facility with different types of testing? I’ve never heard of this Aperture place before.”
“The facility I belonged to was constructed to test out the effects of portals, I always assumed they were trying to find ways for long distance travel but I doubt it..”
Chell shrugged, Glados, the machine that held her captive, hadn’t told her much about WHY they were so animate about portals
He perked up immediately.
“Portals? Like the type that you could basically open up a ‘doorway’ between two far off places?”
“Yes, exactly. That’s what the device in my hands does but at first it could only open portals on surfaces infused with moon rocks but after some tweaking it can work on almost anything..”
“So do you think we could use it around the facility?”
“Most-likely, at least until I find a way off this thing. It could make travel easier but if I knew how to use it as a weapon it would work better around here..”
“If you just find the highest place in a room and open another portal under a Typhon we’ll be golden.”
He got up and looked at his PDA thing (don’t know what it’s called). He glanced at the map a few times before turning it off and placing it back in his pocket.
“There’s an escape pod that’s still functional on the ship. We should be able to get to it, but the only problem is I don’t know where the key is.”
“Is there a place where the keys are stored or do you think someone has the key with them? Either way it’ll be hard to find whatever key we need but still..”
“I had found a voice recording that had two people discussing getting to the escape pod, though I don’t think either of them made it. One of them probably has the key.”
“Well, might as well start looking then. The station might be giant but maybe we’ll get lucky or something..”
“Let’s hope.”
He pulled out his Transcribe again and looked at the map while also listening to the recording again. Morgan made sure to pay attention to locations they mentioned as well.Then he finally knew where to go.
“We need to head to the Arboretum. That’s where the key is.”
“Lead the way, where is the ‘Arboretum’ anyway?
Chell was eager to get off the station but she had no idea what it’s layout was so she was utterly lost. She hoped Morgan would let her know do things could go quicker
“From here, we need to get to the Lobby. I fixed the lift earlier so it should be in working order, and we can skip using the Guts, especially since you’re not correctly equipped to go out there. From there we will either have to stop on Level 3 of the Arboretum if it won’t go up to Level 4, where my brother Alex’s room is. That’s where we’ll find the Escape Pod key.”

She didn’t follow all of it but she understood she couldn’t go somewhere and they needed to go through the “lobby” to reach they’re destination. She hoped that there wouldn’t be many obstacles in their way but if there were she prayed for the best

“If the lift is blocked or broken again,” he spoke as they walked through Psychotronics, “we can use your portals to bring us to a higher location to get a work around. Until then, we can take the route I have in mind.”

Chell followed Morgan through Psychotronics, watching for anything moving as they go. His description of the Typhons had began to paranoy her but there was nothing she could do about it
He had placed his Psychoscope back over his eyes and looked over the area a few times, still having the chip installed that allowed him to view disguised Mimics. He found nothing, thankfully, and they were able to leave the area, but the mumbling of a Phantom was present out in the hall. Immediately, Morgan crouched down, motioning for Chell to do the same as they moved, looking over the corner to watch what direction the Phantom went.
He whispered to her, “That there, that’s a Phantom. They’re dangerous when they see you, so killing them without their knowledge is best, or when they’re immobilized.”

“Jesus Christ, that things huge…if THAT broke containment what else is on this station?”
She definitely wasn’t going to announce her presence to the beast unless it was to trick it into a portal but maybe not even that. She would stay crouched behind Morgan until it was safe to move since she had ntber felt with sluens before

Morgan made sure to move to the next set of broken walls and motioned for Chell to follow. He then pulled out a Recycler Charge and threw it in the direction of the Phantom, it turning at the slight sound and charging up a beam attack at them. Before it could finish, the charge went off and seemed to create a vacuum that tried to pull in reality itself before “exploding” back to normal. The Phantom was no longer there as well as quite a few items, but little pieces of material were left behind.
Morgan stood up straight after he scanned the area for anymore of them.
Chell looked down at the small bits and pieces that were left over before turning her attention back to Morgan. She was absolutely dumbfounded at what had just played out and it was obvious by her expression
“What the FUCK was that?’
He held out a Recycler Charge to her.
“It’s a device that was created here. A Recycler Charge. It pulls in items and organisms in towards it and recycles them into material that we can use to fabricate ammo and medical supplies, as well as weapons. Of course, if either of us were to get close to it we’d be killed instantly.”
“…And I thought Glados made dangerous tech, this place is a death trap..”
She shys away from the device in his hand, deciding she’d rather not take her chances with an actual vacume of death.
“Sadly you can’t make helpful tech without making some that are deadly.”
He put the charge away and walked towards the door of the room, knowing there were more than likely more Typhons beyond it.
