I HAD A VISION
♥️ -Aperture-rat
@aperture-rat
It had taken two weeks of bed rest, medicine, and snarky comments from GLaDOS about the fragility of humans and this particular human’s stubbornness, but Chell was finally feeling better. She wasn’t ready to leave just yet, though; she had her energy back but she could tell GLaDOS didn’t want her gone for now. Besides, she felt she owed the android one last thing before going back to the outside world.
When she exited the office she’d been sleeping in (she’d stubbornly refused to sleep in a Relaxation Chamber), she located GLaDOS and got her attention, then smiled and pulled her into a hug.
It was clear that her android caretaker was about to say something when she was suddenly pulled into a hug but whatever it was got caught in her throat. She looked down at Chell in utter confusion as the plausibility of ever receiving a hug after all the negative data she had collected seemed completely impossible…until now? Under normal circumstances she would’ve reacted with one shade of hostility or another but now she was just…..so so confused.
@aperture-rat
Chell sensed the awkwardness once her gratitude had worn off a little, and pulled away from the hug. She signed a quick ‘sorry’ then added a little explanation:
‘Thank you for helping me get better. I know you didn’t really want me to be here, but it was nice of you. I hope I can repay you…no tests yet though. I’m not all better yet.’ She signed the last part a little hastily, hoping to dissuade GLaDOS from any thoughts of making her a test subject again.
From the look of it Glados didn't even seem to think about tests at all yet, still hung up on the hug and the close to 404 error she was currently having. She looked at Chell silently, no snarky comments, no death glare, nothing.

Hey, I love your art! By the way, is your blog title a reference to Portal2?
sure is!
Sickness
// Chell has been confined to the sterile environment of Aperture for many, many years, so what if she gets to the surface and she suddenly gets very sick because any vaccines or immunity she had built up before are now null and void because diseases and viruses have evolved a lot since her time? So imagine if she got violently ill and came back to GLaDOS for treatment. That’d be cute, haha. XD
@vilifiedexile
((Yessssss omg I think about this all the time XD Mostly because I love the idea of Chell trying to stubborn her way through illness and exhaustion the same way she does with everything, but also because GLaDOS being alternately smug and motherly is a really cute mental image. :D @aperture-rat knows what we’re talking about~))
Yeye
chell portaltwo, but i try to draw her from memory and mess up badly
"Its your fault for going out in the rain, you know" ~Aperture-rat (Glados)
@aperture-rat
Chell shot the android a death glare, the effect of which was unfortunately ruined by a sudden coughing fit. She was huddled directly outside of the Relaxation Chamber, having dragged the blankets out of the room and wrapped herself in them. Just because she had crawled here with a fever after sleeping in the wheat field outside overnight didn’t mean she was ever going to sleep in a room that locked from the outside again. This was only temporary until she was well enough to leave; they had both agreed on that. The ex-subject reluctantly wriggled her hands out of her blankets long enough to point at GLaDOS, then up towards the surface. Then she tapped her temple and shook her head. Her hands were shaking but the meaning of her rudimentary signs was clear enough, she hoped. After all, GLaDOS was the only one here with visual access to the outside world before she had let Chell out; it would have been easy enough to tell her the weather beforehand.
Unlike Chell, Glados was more than happy to forget about all that had happened in that room, which was evident by the fact that everything had been changed so quickly.
Still, nothing happened as she walked around, no death-traps, no turrets, she was completely safe and alone for once inside Aperture’s walls.
Of course, Chell’s memories of the place weren’t happy either. She had experienced some of the worst moments of her life in here, even if she’d been too busy surviving to deal with them at the time.
“If you want my advice, you should just lie down in front of a rocket. Trust me, it’ll be a lot less painful than the neurotoxin.”
“Actually…why do we have to leave right now?”
But there were triumphant moments too. Moments where she had won, in spite of everything thrown at her.
“Wh - are you still alive? You are joking! You have GOT to be KIDDING me!”
“The best solution to a problem is usually the easiest. And I’ll be honest. Killing you? Is HARD.”
For now, shivering and sick or not, she was just enjoying how it felt to walk through this room without being shot at, or force-fed neurotoxin, or betrayed. If anything, she was grateful it looked different; she could almost pretend she wasn’t back in this hell, relying on an old enemy(?) for help in a dire situation. She had had very few peaceful moments in Aperture; she was determined to make this one last.
Chell’s peaceful moment was short-lived, however, as soon she could hear the telltale hydrolics of the floor moving under her. The large tiles in the very middle of the room,as well as everything on them, moved out of the way in four different directions revealing a circular elevator shaft and, in turn, filled the once-silent room with mechanical whirring for a good couple minutes before the elevator itself rose into the room.
With a ding the doors slid open and out came the synthetic herself holding a small case of test tubes wity different labels such as “Niquil” or “Mucinex”. She went towards the nearest table and set her case down before even noticing Chell was out of her room but didn’t look very surprised.
When she felt the floor panels move under her feet, she instinctively lifted the Portal gun and tensed her leg muscles - before her body protested in the form of aching. Chell’s legs almost buckled, but she forced herself to stay standing, even if she was a little wobbly now. She would never have said before that she was relieved when doors opened in the wall, nor would she have ever thought Phew, it’s just GLaDOS before that moment. Relaxing a little, she sheepishly waved at the android when she noticed the former test subject.
Glados opened the case, looked Chell up snd down and grabbed the Mucinex out of the batch. She beckoned Chell over and held up the vial to the lights in the ceiling as if checking it for something, undoing it’s top when she was done and handing it to her lab rat when she came over “This is Mucinex, a common cold medication on the surface, take the whole vial…you might need a drink afterwards”
She took a questioning whiff, wrinkled her nose, and downed the strange blue medicine like she was trying to drink strong liquor. Sure enough, it tasted awful - sickly sweet and unpleasant. She signed at GLaDOS:
“Where can I get water?” Almost as an afterthought, she added: “I also need new blankets, please.”
“Uh huh, give me a minute” there was the ever tok familiar sound of floors being moved but not nearly as long as before. The nearest wall changed abd a new door rose in its place leading into a little break room with a few tables and chairs along with a water cooler probably full of stale water. Glados shrugged as it was good as Chell could get at the moment water-wise and the blankets would take a little longer.
Chell slumped into the nearest chair the minute the room stopped moving. She hadn’t realized how tired walking around had made her until she saw the chairs come up. She’d never felt this tired in Aperture - maybe GLaDOS had turned the adrenal vapor off when she left? She waited on getting the water for now, focusing on GLaDOS.
She gestured at the room in general, raising an eyebrow. Clearly GLaDOS had been doing more than just remodeling the facility if she’d been working on the non-test rooms too.
She folds her arms and follows her graze silently, mentally trying to figure out what Chell meant since she didn’t sign anything “What? It’s a break room with an old water cooler. I never cut the power so i guess it stayed fresh….ish?”
Chell shook her head lightly, then turned to the water cooler, grabbing a paper cup and pouring herself some water. It looked a little stale but otherwise fine; maybe it kept better in the cooler. She drank it, washing the taste of the medicine out of her mouth, and signed once she was able to think a little more clearly.
“How much of the lab do you still control? And how much are you fixing now for my sake?”
It wasn’t malicious or mocking; Chell really did want to know how much GLaDOS was doing for her.
@aperture-rat
"All of it, I didn't disconnect and just the room with the pod" The Android shrugged it off and came over to the cooler, analysing how fresh that water really is, figuring Chell wouldn't like the result. "....eh, you'll be fine.."
“For the duration of the test, please enjoy nonstop Christmas music.”
-GLaDOS
Wheatley: You know the sound a fork makes in the garbage disposal? That’s the sound my brain makes all the time.
GLaDOS: I’m very generous! What about that one time I gave blood?
Chell, suspiciously: [Whose blood?]
GlaDOS: Blood that was mine. That I owned. No one else.
I neglected my Portal fan art lovers for quite a time, I hope this little poser Chell will make it up to you, guys.
This is a Portal 1 Chell appreciation post 。◕‿◕。
Coloured my mspaint sketches…
Finally I’m satisfied with the way I draw Chell!
A loud warp door in front of chell opened up and out stepped Erzebet, looking a little worse for wear but in her usual outfit her jacket heavier then before aswell. "Hey..."
Chell jumped back when the door opened and stood frozen in place, staring at Erzebet with wide eyes. She looked a little older than the last time she saw the lab rat, a little less finicky as well, but hardly very different otherwise.
Rubbing her hands together somewhat excitedly she knew exactly what to do. Looking to chell she put a hand on her shoulder hoping to get across that things would work out.
"Come on, we got this, and i got this".
She wouldn't show it but she was actually giddy.
Chell had to admit, Erzebet being as exited to test as she was filled her with hope. She was still worried about her for sure but as the doors closed and they were lowered to the testing site she felt like things weren't going to be as difficult as she had originally thought.
As soon as she saw the doors open she shot out leaping through warpgates similar to how portal gun portals work, chell could hear Erzebet cheer as she made it to the end of the test. Albeit it was a cooperative test but she had made it to the end.
"Oh...."
She chuckled realizing what she had done and waited for chell to try and make it.
Chell had tried to assist where she coukd while Erzebet tore through the test but eventually stopped and watched with a sigh. After Erzebet realized she had left Chell at the start she waved her off and did it on her own, much slower than Erzebet obviously but she made it at her own pace.
first off, here are some doodles I drew after I replayed Portal 2
GLaDOS didn’t ask for any of this shit
