((Alright, I'm just going to come out and say it...
Mirkwood is not going to be involved at all in this. Yes, it's logical that they would send help if needed, though surely Lórien would be the first stop since they're closer. But the main reasons for Mirkwood not getting involved are as follows:
- There is already an established plot in progress, and will continue to be so until the five main players can be on the blogs more frequently. Two of the players have been waiting for this plot since it was first decided that Oropher was being temporarily released from the Halls, so they're not going to stop until they deem it necessary.
- As far as I'm aware (and this is going by memory, so I might have forgotten a couple of players), every Mirkwood-based Elf character is played by the same five people. I play three of the Elves currently in Mirkwood, and I know that at least two of the other players are not particularly interested in a battle plot right now, and the other two are busy with real life and cannot spend too much time, if any, on their blogs. Therefore it'd be very difficult for three unwilling and two absent players to take part.
- I've stated this already, but Oropher is not going to go anywhere near a battle. He's not completely over the Last Alliance, has terrible flashbacks and nightmares, and he expects to be sent back to the Halls any day and therefore he'd want to stay away from any situations that could lead to his death. I severely doubt that Thranduil would want to leave his father in Mirkwood, nor would Celeborn. Of the remaining Mirkwood Elf characters currently in play, Legolas and Haldir would be the more likely to go to battle, but Legolas is currently absent and as such I am admittedly neglecting Haldir. Galion prefers to stay at Thranduil's side, and Duirro protects the forest, so it's not exactly the best idea for him to leave.
Honestly, I feel like this plot came out of nowhere and that no one really took into account how ALL the possible players involved would feel about it. Yes, some of you/us/whatever might want a bit of action involved, but since many of us have to choose RL over RP quite frequently at the moment, we're a) not available for such a plot to even work and b) we're quite happy with how things are at the moment. Maybe in future, when the ask-blogs are more active, something similar might be considered, but right now it just isn't going to work at all. And honestly given the amount of Imladris characters that are unactive right now (for a number of reasons), I'm not sure how you're going to work THAT, either.
I hate to rain on anyone's parade and I don't want to come off as a dick here, but if you're going to start fighting evil all over Middle-earth, you may as well act like Mirkwood doesn't exist because myself and Thranduil are currently the only two who can be on even remotely regularly and it might stay this way for some time. Sorry.))
