So I keep going AWOL

((Hi everyone! This blog has brief moments of activity before going silent again, and while I do believe that no one ever owes an explanation for blogs going quiet, I want to give one. 

This is going to be multi-faceted. 

The first reason is my health. I’ve mentioned this before, but I suffer from many chronic illnesses, and the only one untreatable is my ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), also known as CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). I prefer to use ‘ME’ because I feel CFS is a bit of a misnomer. While fatigue is a huge part of the illness, it is not the only symptom, and often isn’t the worst symptom (it’s still pretty bad though). 

The fatigue isn’t just a regular tiredness. It’s an exhaustion and weariness down to your bones. It means your brain can’t function how it used to. There’s varying levels of severity, and I’m moderate. This means I use mobility aids, I use a shower chair, I have to carefully choose how I use my limited amount of energy each day. 

I’m not going to go into all the nitty gritty (though I do talk about it on my personal blog @komaeda-nagayto and am always happy to answer questions there) but it’s a roller coaster of an illness. Sometimes people will just feel better for years at a time before getting worse. 

I’ve been steadily worsening since my diagnosis in mid-2017. 

Another reason is I don’t feel I have a place in the community. There are some people in the community I am uncomfortable being around (and no I won’t say who or why because I don’t want to cause drama, I just want to lay this out here), and so I’m not sure where my place is. 

I started this blog for @ask-lucky-boy and ever since lucky-boy’s mod went on permanent hiatus, I’ve been unsure what to do. That’s not to say there’s any bad feelings there, lucky-boy’s mod did what was best for their health and I would never ever hold that against a person, and in fact they’re still a good friend I talk to regularly. 

All I knew was that I wanted to, at one point, do a mastermind!Hajime event, and I’ve done that, and had a lot of fun. 

I don’t have any direction for this blog, and my limited energy is being spent elsewhere. I play in two D&D campaigns and run one myself. I stream on Twitch and post videos on Youtube. I have professional responsibilities. 

Basically, this blog has become a low priority for me. 

This is all a lot longer than I meant it to be. 

I’m still around. This blog will stay because 1. I’m a nostalgic bitch who likes to go back to the things I’ve done in various fandoms and 2. I might come back, even if it’s just briefly. 

I have really enjoyed having this blog and being part of the community, and the friends I have made. The absolute chaos with some stuff has been priceless. Demon!Hajime will always be a fond memory.

Happy anniversary Hajime and Nagito!

That’s right! Today is one year since Hajime and @ask-lucky-boy Nagito got together!

While neither lucky-boy’s mod or I are rping currently, for reasons we’ve both shared, these two very much still exist for me, and I couldn’t let today pass without acknowledging it. 

For those wondering, they’re spending most of the day in bed except for when they have to take Mochi for a walk.

Kokichi doesn’t seem to notice anything wrong with the photo. He nods quickly, flicking through a few photos before showing off one of the cat just laying on top of him. “Bastard woke me up doing this.” He gives a small laugh. “I had class in the morning and I couldn’t sleep but I didn’t have the heart to move him, y'know?”

“He looks so comfortable, why would you move him?” He smiles a little, Izuru keeping a close eye on the background of any photos they flick through. “How long have had him?”

More photos reveal about half of them have the silhouette in them. One of the more disturbing had the figure in his closet. But again he seems too distracted by the cat to have noticed. “Maybe two years now? One of my friends helped me save him after an accident and that’s how I got him.” The last photo is of his Komaeda and the cat. He looks older, hair shorter but he looks happy. Kokichi hesitates at this photo before pocketing the phone. “I’m usually the one taking care of Toby, since techically he’s mine. He’s got me through some rough patches for sure.”

Hajime’s eyes soften at the picture of Nagito, at seeing him so happy. As Kokichi pocketed the phone, Hajime looked back at him, the things Izuru had noticed running through his head. He had to say something.

“You say that no one has believed you. But you have evidence on your phone,” Hajime says, trying to stay as calm as possible, not wanting to agitate the boy.

“Wh… What… ?” He pales visibly then, which is a feat for how pale he already is. He quickly pulls his phone back out, going through the photos.

“He was in my house…” He covers his mouth, trembling violently. Nausea suddenly overwhelming him. “O-Oh my god—! That guy was in my house— I-I thought I’d always lose him before I got home—”

“Hey, hey, listen,” Hajime says, noticing the panic in Kokichi, “I know it’s terrifying but you have evidence, something to work off. If you show this people they’ll believe you, help you. It might even help to find this person.”

“But what if that makes it worse? I can’t risk my family getting hurt because I snitched.” His legs are barely supporting him and his eyes are watering up. It’s clear now that the cat’s out of the bag how badly this has affected him.

“I don’t know what to do— I thought I wanted proof but I don’t know what to do with it.”

“Your family will want to help protect you. You shouldn’t be dealing with this along,” Hajime says, voice full of concern, “If it was me, I wouldn’t care about being at risk to keep my kid safe.”

“Hello, I’m Hajime Hinata. What do you mean, document what’s happening to you? Perhaps I could help?” Strangely, as he speaks, his green eye flashes red slightly, a sign that Izuru was close to the surface.

The male stood there in disbelief, blinking for a moment to process who was standing in front of him. It looked like his father, yet at the same time it was someone else entirely. His hair was shorter, and his eyes were different. But they had the same name-

He shakes his head, trying to snap himself out of his thoughts. “A-Ah—… Just … Normal teenager stuff. You know the drill.” He fakes a smile before shrugging his shoulders. The less people involved would be better for him, and the safety of others. Besides, how could he calmly explain a stalker?

Hajime narrowed his eyes slightly, Izuru in his head trying to read the situation. 

“I wouldn’t know about normal teenager stuff,” Hajime said, feeling the need to be honest, “And something tells me it’s something else, but I get if you don’t want to tell a stranger.” Well… for this Kokichi he supposed he was a stranger.

“No no that’s all really—!” He can’t make eye contact, weight shifting from leg to leg as his hands go into his pockets. “Just like… Highschool stuff, what I’m going to eat for dinner and s-stuff like that.” He’s chewing on the corner of his lip, though he hopes it isn’t too obvious. But he offers a small laugh regardless. This version was much more perceptive than he anticipated.

“You really wouldn’t understand d- Hinata.”

Izuru had of course noticed that quick change of name, and had his own theories about what he was about to call Hajime. Hajime chose not to comment on that.

“Okay.” Hajime could hear Izuru analysing everything in his head, but the kid had just met Hajime. Of course he wasn’t going to share anything. “Well, it’s good to meet you.”

“Yeah… You too.” He glanced off, shrinking in on himself for his slip up. “H-Hey uhm—!” He blurts out, startling himself even, “Do you by chance know a ‘Komaeda’?” His entire demeanor shifts when he asked the question with reckless abandon.

He doesn’t know why he asked, but he did. Maybe to change something? It probably wouldn’t effect anything. He regrets it as soon as it slips past his filter. Oh well, might as well follow through.

Hajime cocks his head slightly at the question, but a wide smile crosses his face. “Of course I know Nagito, I’m dating him.” His smile is slightly soppy as he thinks about his boyfriend.

He nods then, taking a breath then. “Just… Make sure you take care of him. I know he can be difficult as hell but—… He cares about you. Really don’t know why I’m telling you this. You probably to it anyways.”

He runs a hand through his hair, it distorting from its usual look due to his sweaty palms. “Not like some kid should be tellin’ you this shit anyway, but still.”

“I know he does. And I take care of him as much as he allows me to. And without him knowing sometimes.” His mind wanders as he thinks about the research he and Izuru are doing into Nagito’s illnesses, despite Nagito pretending he was fine. 

“He must be important to you, too. Or at least one version of him must be.”

“Yeah, you could say that.” He nods a bit, reminded of how everytime he heads home in a hurry, fearful every time he leaves. “Just… Take care of each other. Even in the bad times. God especially the bad times.”

“Believe me, we already do,” Hajime says with a reassuring smile. He hesitates, wondering if he should ask. On one hand, he wants to know, but on the other, perhaps he shouldn’t pry too much. 

His need to know wins. 

“Is your - is your Nagito sick too?” Hajime asks in a quiet voice.

“A-Ah… Well uh…” He’s not sure exactly how to answer that, dragging his foot against the ground. “You could say that, yeah.” Is what he settles on, throwing in a small nod as well. “I’m just worried that I’ll come home from school and he’s just—” He cuts himself there, feeling like he said too much.

Hajime nods, understanding dawning in his eyes. “Just know that your Hajime is doing everything he can to take care of him, if he’s anything like me.”

“Doesn’t always seem like it. I dunno, maybe it’s just me. But thanks for the reminder I guess.” The smaller male was greatful Hinata didn’t push him to continue on virtually anything concerning he’s likely said. Or called his lies too harshly. “Fuck this is probably as weird for you as it is for me.” He tries to sound playful as he speaks, giving a small laugh.

Hajime shrugs. “It’s pretty weird, but I’ve met other versions of myself before, as well as a child of a version of me, so it’s not quite as strange as it is the first time.” He laughs a little, “I’ve met another version of you, too, but you weren’t my kid.”

“That’s a lot to take in, wow. I didn’t realize how deep this all is. My version of you actually has longer hair and uh—” He was about to mention the eyes, but thought it might be rude to point out so he steers his thought another way. “You seem a bit more down to earth, for lack of a better phrase. That and I can tell you actually call bullshit. Even if you aren’t saying it.”

“I imagine he would be different, if he’s a father. I’m only 24 after all,” Hajime shrugs, though he’s a little surprised by the longer hair. He’d always insisted on keeping it shorter. “I can call bullshit, but a lot of that is Izuru.”

He gives a small giggle at that, lighting up his features. That’s how old his parents were when they adopted him, but he wasn’t going to point that out. Though he tilts his head at the mention of Izuru. “Izuru? Is that why… ?” He doesn’t verbalize the rest of the question, but he ends up pointing to his own left eye. “You don’t need to answer that. I just want to try and figure things out if that makes any sense.”

“No, I get it, all this alternate universe stuff gets confusing. And remember, I might not be the same as your Hajime, I’ve met other Hajime’s who are different, many different Nagito’s who are a bit different. But yeah, the heterochromia is because of Izuru.” He shrugs a little, he knows the eye thing startles some people, just as it used to startle him.

He gives a small thoughtful hum then. “Is it like MPD? Or am I on the wrong trail?” He seems to be taking the news fairly easily, but that’s largely due to the fact that in his universe Kamukura was just a prodigy uncle who visits once a blue moon and not a catalyst for the end of the world.

“I’m not a very smart kid but I try. Oh I got an easier one. Is Izuru still as emotional as a brick wall and give shitty hugs?” His tone is purely joking, no actual bite or harm meant behind it.

“MP… huh? Oh you mean DID. Um. Kind of? But it was forced on me by medical procedure rather than something that developed from mental trauma. It’s a complicated situation.” Hajime isn’t sure what happened in this Kokichi’s world with the Tragedy, or if he knew anything about the Kamukura project.

“I wouldn’t know about hugs, I don’t think he’s ever hugged anyone. But he’s definitely not good with emotions. That’s always been my area.” He sounds very amused, and Izuru takes it as the good natured teasing it is.

“I guess we’ve got something in common between universes at least.” He gives a cheeky grin. Though something has him lingering on the first half of what he said. “Medical procedure…? Mmph that’s probably not my place to ask.”

While there were a few overlaps, there were far more differences. And being him, he was curious probably dangerously so. That and sometimes his filter only kicks in last minute.

“Shit, I’ve been asking you all kinds of stuff but haven’t told you much myself. Ah… Anything you want to know?”

“Yeah, a medical procedure of sorts. There was… well. Things happened to me.” If the kid didn’t know, either his father didn’t want to share it, or it didn’t happen in his universe. He was leaning towards the second.

“Hm, what do I want to know? Maybe what is actually bothering you.” He raises one eyebrow at Kokichi.

“What is being a teenager not enough? You always try to look into something when there’s nothing there? Fffine. I might be a little slacking in my classes.” Not entirely false, but definitely not what Hinata wanted to hear. “Just hard to focus y'know?” Especially trying to shake the feeling of someone staring at you. “But yeah, just basic teenager bullshit with school and all that. ‘Sides, not like you’d believe me anyway.”

“With everything I’ve seen, there’s very little I wouldn’t believe, but I won’t push you if you don’t want to share. Just know I can help out. I’m… very talented.” Not exactly a lie, even if it was more Izuru than Hajime. He doesn’t say that by saying Hajime wouldn’t believe him, Kokichi was admitting to something more than he was saying. There was no sense in pushing someone who didn’t want to talk.

“The school didn’t believe me, the police didn’t, my friends didn’t at first, my parents wouldn’t.” He’s listing off, counting on his fingers. The entire time his upbeat tone didn’t faulter, though his expression does. “I’ve got pretty good reason to believe you wouldn’t believe me either…”

“Anything else? I’m sure you don’t really want to hear me talk about my problems.”

“Like I said, there’s very little I wouldn’t believe.” He shrugs a little. He’s concerned about this kid, but they just met. “Um. I guess what kind of things you’re into?”

A small hum leaves him before he puts a finger to his cheek. “Well, I’ve got this cat I take care of. His name is Toby. Real sweet boy most of the time. I’ve got pictures if you wanna see him. Aside from that, I paint my nails fairly often. Speaking of I need to fix this coat…”

“A cat, that’s cute. I have a dog called Mochi, she is really shy. I’d love to see pictures of Toby.” He smiles.

He’s quick to pull his phone out, as if its second nature, quickly unlocking it and going to find pictures of his cat. His case is checkered. “Look at my little baby.” He smiles, showing off a picture of a brown cat on his bed in a poorly lit room. The photo seemed to have been taken at night. However, with a closer examination of the photo there’s a silhouette in the window.

“He likes to curl up at the foot of my bed when I sleep.”

Izuru notices the silhouette in the window but says nothing, still collecting information from everything. 

“He’s a cute cat,” Hajime says, “Any other photos? I love looking at photos of pets.”

The male stood there in disbelief, blinking for a moment to process who was standing in front of him. It looked like his father, yet at the same time it was someone else entirely. His hair was shorter, and his eyes were different. But they had the same name-

He shakes his head, trying to snap himself out of his thoughts. “A-Ah—… Just … Normal teenager stuff. You know the drill.” He fakes a smile before shrugging his shoulders. The less people involved would be better for him, and the safety of others. Besides, how could he calmly explain a stalker?

Hajime narrowed his eyes slightly, Izuru in his head trying to read the situation. 

“I wouldn’t know about normal teenager stuff,” Hajime said, feeling the need to be honest, “And something tells me it’s something else, but I get if you don’t want to tell a stranger.” Well… for this Kokichi he supposed he was a stranger.

“No no that’s all really—!” He can’t make eye contact, weight shifting from leg to leg as his hands go into his pockets. “Just like… Highschool stuff, what I’m going to eat for dinner and s-stuff like that.” He’s chewing on the corner of his lip, though he hopes it isn’t too obvious. But he offers a small laugh regardless. This version was much more perceptive than he anticipated.

“You really wouldn’t understand d- Hinata.”

Izuru had of course noticed that quick change of name, and had his own theories about what he was about to call Hajime. Hajime chose not to comment on that.

“Okay.” Hajime could hear Izuru analysing everything in his head, but the kid had just met Hajime. Of course he wasn’t going to share anything. “Well, it’s good to meet you.”

“Yeah… You too.” He glanced off, shrinking in on himself for his slip up. “H-Hey uhm—!” He blurts out, startling himself even, “Do you by chance know a ‘Komaeda’?” His entire demeanor shifts when he asked the question with reckless abandon.

He doesn’t know why he asked, but he did. Maybe to change something? It probably wouldn’t effect anything. He regrets it as soon as it slips past his filter. Oh well, might as well follow through.

Hajime cocks his head slightly at the question, but a wide smile crosses his face. “Of course I know Nagito, I’m dating him.” His smile is slightly soppy as he thinks about his boyfriend.

He nods then, taking a breath then. “Just… Make sure you take care of him. I know he can be difficult as hell but—… He cares about you. Really don’t know why I’m telling you this. You probably to it anyways.”

He runs a hand through his hair, it distorting from its usual look due to his sweaty palms. “Not like some kid should be tellin’ you this shit anyway, but still.”

“I know he does. And I take care of him as much as he allows me to. And without him knowing sometimes.” His mind wanders as he thinks about the research he and Izuru are doing into Nagito’s illnesses, despite Nagito pretending he was fine.

“Yeah, you could say that.” He nods a bit, reminded of how everytime he heads home in a hurry, fearful every time he leaves. “Just… Take care of each other. Even in the bad times. God especially the bad times.”

I just want to try and figure things out if that makes any sense.”

He gives a small thoughtful hum then. “Is it like MPD? Or am I on the wrong trail?” He seems to be taking the news fairly easily, but that’s largely due to the fact that in his universe Kamukura was just a prodigy uncle who visits once a blue moon and not a catalyst for the end of the world.

“I’m not a very smart kid but I try. Oh I got an easier one. Is Izuru still as emotional as a brick wall and give shitty hugs?” His tone is purely joking, no actual bite or harm meant behind it.

“I wouldn’t know about hugs, I don’t think he’s ever hugged anyone. But he’s definitely not good with emotions. That’s always been my area.” He sounds very amused, and Izuru takes it as the good natured teasing it is.

He nods then, taking a breath then. “Just… Make sure you take care of him. I know he can be difficult as hell but—… He cares about you. Really don’t know why I’m telling you this. You probably to it anyways.”

He runs a hand through his hair, it distorting from its usual look due to his sweaty palms. “Not like some kid should be tellin’ you this shit anyway, but still.”

“I know he does. And I take care of him as much as he allows me to. And without him knowing sometimes.” His mind wanders as he thinks about the research he and Izuru are doing into Nagito’s illnesses, despite Nagito pretending he was fine. 

“He must be important to you, too. Or at least one version of him must be.”

“Yeah, you could say that.” He nods a bit, reminded of how everytime he heads home in a hurry, fearful every time he leaves. “Just… Take care of each other. Even in the bad times. God especially the bad times.”

“Believe me, we already do,” Hajime says with a reassuring smile. He hesitates, wondering if he should ask. On one hand, he wants to know, but on the other, perhaps he shouldn’t pry too much. 

His need to know wins. 

“Is your - is your Nagito sick too?” Hajime asks in a quiet voice.

“A-Ah… Well uh…” He’s not sure exactly how to answer that, dragging his foot against the ground. “You could say that, yeah.” Is what he settles on, throwing in a small nod as well. “I’m just worried that I’ll come home from school and he’s just—” He cuts himself there, feeling like he said too much.

Hajime nods, understanding dawning in his eyes. “Just know that your Hajime is doing everything he can to take care of him, if he’s anything like me.”

“Doesn’t always seem like it. I dunno, maybe it’s just me. But thanks for the reminder I guess.” The smaller male was greatful Hinata didn’t push him to continue on virtually anything concerning he’s likely said. Or called his lies too harshly. “Fuck this is probably as weird for you as it is for me.” He tries to sound playful as he speaks, giving a small laugh.

Hajime shrugs. “It’s pretty weird, but I’ve met other versions of myself before, as well as a child of a version of me, so it’s not quite as strange as it is the first time.” He laughs a little, “I’ve met another version of you, too, but you weren’t my kid.”

“That’s a lot to take in, wow. I didn’t realize how deep this all is. My version of you actually has longer hair and uh—” He was about to mention the eyes, but thought it might be rude to point out so he steers his thought another way. “You seem a bit more down to earth, for lack of a better phrase. That and I can tell you actually call bullshit. Even if you aren’t saying it.”

“I imagine he would be different, if he’s a father. I’m only 24 after all,” Hajime shrugs, though he’s a little surprised by the longer hair. He’d always insisted on keeping it shorter. “I can call bullshit, but a lot of that is Izuru.”

He gives a small giggle at that, lighting up his features. That’s how old his parents were when they adopted him, but he wasn’t going to point that out. Though he tilts his head at the mention of Izuru. “Izuru? Is that why… ?” He doesn’t verbalize the rest of the question, but he ends up pointing to his own left eye. “You don’t need to answer that. I just want to try and figure things out if that makes any sense.”

“No, I get it, all this alternate universe stuff gets confusing. And remember, I might not be the same as your Hajime, I’ve met other Hajime’s who are different, many different Nagito’s who are a bit different. But yeah, the heterochromia is because of Izuru.” He shrugs a little, he knows the eye thing startles some people, just as it used to startle him.
