I know it's not happening with the current story, but if you did one day decide to put botw Link in Dimensional Links, what would you make him like? The same wild animal that everyone portrays him as, or would you want to do something a little different? Also the Tri Force Heroes and Hyrule Warriors Link, would you want to put them in too?
ABSOLUTELY YES. I already have their names and personality traits picked out, I cannot wait to have an excuse to start my sequel/spin-off idea for real and add them to the group dynamic. In order, my head canons are as follows:
Breath of the Wild
His name is Rune
He can cook like nobody’s business. He gets Grandma’s Soup recipe perfectly on his very first try and Gen spends the rest of the day in a vague sort of funk because he never did manage it himself.
He’s quiet. Like, really quiet. You all think Speck doesn’t say much, he’s nothing compared to this guy. Amnesia combined with excruciatingly long periods of time spend in the wilderness with nobody else around means that Rune has the social skills of an unripe tomato, and he has no idea how to interact with a group the size of the DL crew. They’re all so loud. Like, silence in BotW is the most important thing. The soundtrack is quiet, you have a freaking noise meter, and the Guardian stalkers can and will murder you for drawing their attention.
The universe music freaks him out. He’s from a Hyrule where the background soundtrack is all but nonexistent save for a few specific places, and the first time he ends up in OoT Hyrule Field he just about has a stroke. How are you supposed to hear your enemies coming if all this music is in the way? It takes him the longest time to figure out that the universe music will actually warn him about the incoming enemies, but he still thinks it’s weird. I headcanon that this is actually a side effect of the Malice in his home Hyrule - the universe music got eaten away, and it’s only recently that the world is starting to heal enough that it can play again, hence the little trills and things we get out in the wilds, and why towns and stables still have a theme, albeit muted and a bit subdued. The presence of people helps the process along
He’ll turn into the group pack mule, eventually, because it is ridiculous how much stuff he can carry.
He’ll never be very vocal, but once he gets used to the DL crew and gets absorbed into the dynamic, he’s promptly going to adopt them all as family. This boy is so starved for social interaction it’s almost painful to watch. And all that trauma from 100 years ago? Watching all his friends and family die? Not being able to remember them all? Yeah, he needs therapy, and I will gladly throw it at him in the form of eighteen loving siblings.
TriForce Heroes
By color, their names are Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire. Yes, this might be a reference to Pokemon. No, I don’t actually care how that comes across. It fits them and I’m sticking to it.
They are, technically, all Sketch, but I’ve got an idea in mind that will differentiate them. Basically, they’re alternate dimensional Sketches running adjacent to the universe of Sketch’s Hyrule. I really did try to push Sketch into the TriForce mold, but he just wouldn’t fit. So this happened instead.
They’re pranksters. Shadow gets along with them like a house on fire, most specifically Ruby.
Of course they still do their stacking thing, and naturally they’ve got all their outfits. And the hair - I can make so many jokes about blue and green hair, how could I not?
Emerald is the leader, so to speak. He won’t step up to it most of the time, because the TriLinks prefer to have a group huddle and come to their decisions that way, but if either of the other two need reining in, he’ll be the one to do it.
Sapphire is a bit timid, in that he’s much more likely to stay quiet about his own wants in favor of letting his teammates have their way. He and Red get along very well, mostly because of how similar they are. Both Emerald and Ruby are working on getting him to actually say his opinions out loud - it’s very slow going.
Ruby is sarcastic and easily annoyed. Of the three of them, he’s the one who puts the most effort into their pranks, and he’s probably the one most likely to pick a fight. He’ll get angry to cover up the fact that he might not know what’s going on, which was a pretty big point of tension between him and his two teammates in the beginning. It took a very long time for him to get along with Sapphire, because Sapphire automatically assumed that Ruby hated him. It’s still a work in progress, but ever since Ruby took to violently insulting (and sometimes assaulting) anyone who made Sapphire upset, it’s gotten much better.
Hyrule Warriors
His name is Lux
He can’t talk
Like literally, he can’t talk. I want him to be mute. Link is the silent protagonist, right? I gotta have one somewhere ;)
My reasoning for this is that, in a game where inter-character communication is literally woven into the gameplay, Link never says a word. It’s all his companion fairy, Proxi. My theory for this is that Proxi, as a fairy, is naturally attuned to Link’s emotions, and based on what he’s feeling, she’ll put it into words and say it out loud.
Lux is nowhere near as polite as Proxi makes him seem
He does know Sign, and conveniently so does Lore. This of course means that the entire group eventually will too.
All his life, he’s had to deal with people assuming what he’s saying, and usually twisting that around to suit their own needs. If Lux had a voice of his own, the first thing he would do is tell off absolutely everybody. He’s got insults for days.
His whole personality is a low simmering annoyance.
He’s the brawler. Nobody can deal out damage like he can, literally nobody. In exchange though, he can’t really take a hit. A glass cannon, if you will.
Once the group learns his Sign Language, all bets are off. Screw this ‘being polite’ business, Lux has people who can understand him for the first time in ages, and he’s going to take advantage of it.
Shadow loves him. Lux doesn't quite return the favor. He gets along pretty well with Ruby though, and ends up gravitating towards Rune on the basis of “Lore is way too loud for us to handle sometimes”.
I have so many more ideas for these boys but this is getting long enough as is. Thank you so much for giving me the excuse to gush about them!

I require assistance?
So… I’m gonna be honest here, I recently quit my job. It was a various combination of reasons, but most prominently was that I only ever meant to have that job temporarily, but it was turning into a ‘permanently’, and I was in no way mentally or emotionally prepared to hold that job for the rest of my life. Would not have been healthy for me, nope.
This, however, now means that my source of income is nonexistent. I’m attempting to self-employ, and that’s going slowly, but steadily. In the meantime between getting that up and running on all cylinders though, I have some questions.
I know that art/story/whatever commissions are totally a thing, and I feel confident enough in my skills to provide them, but… how do I go about doing it? Like, do I set up Ko-Fi, Patreon, Venmo? How much is a reasonable charge for a commission? How exact do I have to be regarding what I will and will not create? (I.e., slash, nsfw, etc.). All I’m trying to do is afford groceries and maybe pay off a little of my college debt afterwards, but I could REALLY use some advice on how to get started.
If anyone has knowledge on this topic, I would LOVE your input, please and thank you.

Yeeeeeah, the one thing about art for DL is that you gotta REALLY work up the motivation to draw the whole group or else it’s just gonna crash and burn. I would know. I’ve tried. All I’ve managed so far are one-character-focus pieces.
That said, thank you very much for my very first fanart of the Overlord List Link! He look so scholarly. In my head I’ve been imagining him as this beleaguered college student with a conglomerate mess of textbooks and fifteen empty Premium Milk bottles on the table around him as he tries to make a sensible thesis paper. Yours is so much more put-together than mine is.

Also I know this is dumb but in the unlikely event he ever met the DL group all I can think of is him going “excUSE ME?! Did I just hear you correctly? I’m supposed to help save the goddess-damned multiverse?! I have a paper due tomorrow and like five tests I need to study for I don’t have time for that!!!”
This is getting kinda long but do you have a nickname for him? I’ve been switching between Scholar and Revi (like in revise) but I bet whatever you have would be worlds better than that.
If you make a doodle page I DEMAND to be notified, this kind of thing is way too good to miss out on. Er, please. Don’t make me beg.
His nickname: if I were to call him anything, it would probably be Codex. (It’s a cool word for a fancy old book.) Since he literally carries a library around with him, (Backpack of Holding for the win!) it seems appropriate.
Also, if he ever did meet the DL crew, he would be a certified mess. All the carnage they get into, I can only imagine how Codex would take it. Like, he’d be the Link waaaaaaaay up there on that hill in the distance casting fire magic at anything that moves because “Have you seen those bokoblins? Absolutely not, I’ll just be over here putting fire and fifty feet of distance between them and me, thanks very much.”
…Huh. I think he’s sassy.

Title: Lore redesign!
First order of business for my new DL sketchbook, redo Lore for my cheat sheet! I wasn’t happy with the last one 😐 but I’m loving this one!
The original art for the “Oracle” games gives him big round eyes… which threw me off at first but once I shrunk his iris and pupils, it worked! It gives him a slightly “crazed” look and I love that!
Lore’s personality is one of those things that just… never quite seems to translate into a humanly feasible expression. *Glares disgruntedly at my own, numerous, and frustratingly unsuccessful attempts*. But I agree, he looks ever-so-slightly unhinged and it works really well!

Character consistency continues to elude me. What even is it. Just… what.
(Also - how do you draw small children body types? I swear it took me six hours alone just to be semi-confident I didn’t just put a kid’s head on an adult’s body. Once again I am in awe of the people who just… do it, without struggling. Teach me your ways, oh masters.)
Anyways, griping aside, have a Speck. Translating tiny Gameboy pixel-art into something usable proved to be a… unique challenge. Also, all his official art is in Toon Link style for some reason? So his nose is literally just this, tiny little doink of a nose, and that’s it. Toon Link’s face goes straight down, pokes out the tiniest little bit to signify a nose, and then keeps on going straight down. Just… what does that even mean in terms of an actual 3-D human being?
So he’s got a pug nose now, because I got fed up arguing with myself over it.
Close-up color version will probably be up either later tonight or early tomorrow, so stay posted for that. In the meantime, hope you enjoyed.

I have, in what now seems to be a rather misguided fit of rash decision-making, begun a Quest to draw out the DL Links as I see them in my head. And for some reason I’ve also decided to post these things for all y’all to see.
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Anyways. I have learned several things in trying to draw this, about eighty percent of which involve keeping the same character recognizable through multiple sketches. That crap is hard, let me tell you! Deepest respect to the people who manage to do it just casually, because I agonized over the laughing face for, I kid you not, three straight days. (Which is another thing, actually. Turns out I can nail closed mouths no problem, but the minute I open it everything just turns into a nightmare. How do you draw smiles. HOW.)
Back to the point. This is Genesis, aka ‘Gen’, aka Skyward Sword Link. We have a close-up facial, full front and back view for the outfit, profile, main sword/shield combo, and then a bunch of random little facial-expression sketches that I did to fill space and also to practice with the above-ranted-about character consistency.
Looking at it now, it doesn’t actually seem like very much art to have taken me a full month-ish of time to make. Huh. Well, enjoy anyways.
