Once there was a man who had a large heart. He lived a good life, parents, brother, dog. Eventually, as he turned 10, his dog died and he was more confused than sad. Sure, his friend died, but how? He became fascinated with the idea of death and he wanted to solve it so he could prevent it. Confused.
Flash forward to high school, where he first started coming out of his shell. He soon met a girl that went by the name of Marylynne, Mary for short. Mary introduced him to her friends. Mason, the leader of the school band and choir, Willie, a drama major, Henry, an artist, and Gianna, A girl with dreams. But, if he was to be honest, he cared not for the others. Mary was the one who truly caught his eye. The days came and went and when graduation arrived, Hector was the only student to not show up. Sure, he arrived the next day to collect his diploma, but it was odd to Mary and her friends. Why didn’t he show up? Curious.
Flash forward again to college years. Mary hasn’t seen Hector in person for a few years now and is worried, seeing as he won’t agree to meet her in person. As she made her way to her next class, she bumped into a familiar face. “Hector!” She exclaimed in shock. “My apologies, I wasn’t looking where I was going.” He said curtly. Months passed and at the end of college, Hector requested for Mary to meet him behind the school. She was worried at first, but met him there anyways. When she arrived, he was waiting with a small black box. She greeted him and he greeted her back. After a while of chatting, Hector got down on one knee and opened the box and said four words that Mary had always wanted to hear from someone. “Will you marry me?” She felt tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. She responded with a tearful yes. Hopeful.
Flash forward someodd more years. He now has a child and wife. Mary and Belle. He constantly told everyone that he loved them and would spilt Heaven, Hell, and Earth apart to keep them safe. Eventually, he starts feeling random pains in his ribcage, over the heart area. Cancer. That’s what they told him. He soon became obsessed with trying to find a cure that he spent most, if not all of his time in his basement trying to figure out how to cure it. Eventually, he gave up on a cure and started working on a robot to live out his life in without his illness. He tried explaining everything to Mary, but she refused to listen and said she’d file for a divorce. He felt his heart drop. He gave her everything he could, and she wanted to leave him. He begged her to stay, but she said no. “You barely spend any time with me anymore..” She scoffed. Eventually, the divorce came through and he was left alone with Belle. He became more determined than ever to finish the robot. He’ll prove her wrong. He’ll prove EVERYONE wrong. One could conquer death, if they persist enough. He worked around the clock, only sleeping when he couldn’t focus, knowing that he could get hurt if he kept working while exhausted. Belle kept asking to see what he was working on, but he kept denying it saying that “No, it’s too dangerous for you to be around.” Eventually, when he was taking a rest break, Belle ignored her father’s many warnings and went into the basement to investigate what he was making. When she saw the robot, she was shocked. He made that? She walked closer to look at the smaller details. When she got up close to the face, she felt metal digging away at the area over her heart. She tried to scream, but a claw held her mouth shut. Soon, everything went black. Soon, Hector got up and went down to the basement to get back to work. But he froze at the door. It was open. His heart dropped and he sped down to find the robot had adopted a look that was pretty much identical to Belle. He dropped to his knees and started tearing up. He’d lost his daughter. The one thing keeping him alive. The one source of hope he had. He shook his head and created another robot, faster this time, since he made sure he memorized the blueprints, and activated it for him this time. The last robot to be created of this build. He shut his eyes as he let the robot do its job. What seemed like days later, he woke up in his new body. He checked the calender. October 13th, 194X. He got up and decided to show the world his new creation. His new JOYFUL creation.
