hi hey hello this post has been made before but please try not to make fun of people for their autistic traits such as

• telling the same joke/ wanting to have the same conversation over and over again

• not having much coordination and having a tough time doing “easy” things like tying shoelaces

• having trouble understanding what you mean and needing lots of clarification

• needing things to be broken down into little steps

• having extremely high or extremely low empathy

• getting very attached to things like inanimate objects

there are a lot more but these are just ones i haven’t seen mentioned before!! feel free to add on if u think of anything else

difficulty with emotional regulation

difficulty with facial expressions and body language(both their own and others’)

trouble with volume control

stimming(which could be ANYTHING from listening to music to playing with hair to chewing on things and more. if it stimulates the senses then it can be a stim!)

having a forcibly limited palate due to hypersensitivity(for god’s sake stop with the ‘picky eater’ jokes it was never funny)

hypersensitivity issues in general

talking a lot about special interests(if you need to take a break it’s okay to take a break, but it is NOT okay to belittle or make fun of us when chances are we’re just trying to share something we love with someone we love! too much of that and we’ll shut down and not speak to you about our interests ever again.)

not understanding jokes/sarcasm

having an ‘unusual’ speaking style

‘quoting’ things(communication is HARD! sometimes we need to take shortcuts and use someone else’s words)

trouble with making eye contact or appearing to engage with you(we listen. we really do. it just doesn’t always look the way you expect it to.)

having trouble with sudden changes

meltdowns(it is way worse for us than it is for you)

overthinking things

what IS okay: to set boundaries! you deserve to feel safe and comfortable too

what is NOT okay: to make autistic people feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or hated. no mean jokes(even if we joke about ourselves). no insults. no ‘why are you like this?!’ because we can’t fucking help it, thanks ever so much

a neurotypical: you can’t! self diagnose! autism!!! onLy a dOctor can do that!!!

most doctors: don’t know what autism looks like in people other than nonverbal white cis boys

most doctors: recommend abusive therapies for autistic kids and teens

most doctors who specialize in diagnosing autism: refuse to evaluate adults

an autism evaluation for a minor teen who wants one: requires having supportive parents who understand that autism is not a tragedy and looks different for every autistic person, and that many autistic people can talk, have friends, do okay in school, and otherwise fake looking neurotypical

an autism evaluation for an adult: very expensive and often not covered by insurance in the U.S., also extremely difficult to get in France

an on-record autism diagnosis: can be used to deny you custody of children, to have your kids taken away, to forcibly institutionalize you

autism advocacy orgs that actually help autistic ppl like ASAN, AWN, AANE: Here are some resources for figuring out if you could be autistic. Professional diagnosis is a very personal decision and is not required for knowing that you’re one of us. We support you as an autistic person even if you don’t have a paper diagnosis.

a sincere autism self diagnosis: harms no one even if it’s incorrect, enables the person to feel part of a community of people with similar issues and learn more about autism, a gateway to learning about autism acceptance movements, often the first step toward self acceptance and self esteem

It’s, fine..? Because Ive always been so scared of like, calling myself autistic or smth because I don’t have a proper diagnosis and I don’t want to offend people.

it’s fine. there are actually very few autistic people who will be assholes about self-diagnosis and they’re usually the ones who most strongly support medical authoritarianism (and most paper-diagnosed autistic people don’t like them either)

Hi everyone! So updates: I’ve been doing commission work recently, so I’ve been working on getting my queue finished before I come back to this blog, which should be soon. There is a LOT I plan on adding:

-Tama is getting a new team but with some familiar faces

-Tama becoming a male for a Gengar breedery (trying to figure out how to do this without making it too adult because of Tumblr)

-Tama and Ari’s further backstory, daily interactions, dealing with a meltdown/depression, autism help, however this deals with some adult themes like a toxic household/illegal substance use.

-How Tama became the first Ghost Type therapy Pokémon, how he deals with the fame, fangirls, etc.

And so much more!

I’d love to hear from you all for feedback and possibilities. I love hearing from everyone, so I will definitely take everything into note!

Hey everyone! My name is Snips/Hallow. You may all know me from my previous blog, @ask-the-therapy-gengar . I’m not closing the blog at all, but I made myself a new mod blog. This is gonna be where I post things other than that!

I can’t wait to be apart of some new communities and do new things! I’m getting a new art device so I can create wonderful art of these things. Hopefully it will get me out of a block!

Right now I love the trolls franchise, especially the 2nd movie. It really was a wonderful movie and I love all the world building and character design! Hopefully you guys will love what I post here too!

Hi all! I have some good news in regards to this blog and this progress- I recently ordered a new set up because my computer is slowing down with my art software I use. Once it comes in I should be able to work on art at a faster pace!

Due to the Corona epidemic I have become a caretaker for my grandmothers, and my time has been focused specifically on them. Once I get this new set up I should be able to continue with my art!

This is quite a nice place to relax for Pokémon! You have the whole area set up like a cozy little party. That's amazing, to be honest with you. Do you happen to have any Chamomile? It's my favorite.. my name is Tamago, Tama for short. Pleasure to meet you!

“Well it certainly is a pleasure Tama. It has been a while since a Gengar came through these parts. Most of the Ghastly here often leave once evolving to Haunters.. But I am going on a tangent!” Lex chuckles, looking through their boxes and boxes of teas. “Please excuse me one second, I’m sure I have chamomile but these boxes are awfully faded. Hard to read.” They pull out some reading glasses from behind themselves, and squint at the box in their paws.

“As for this area, it was none of my doing. Just nature taking it’s course. But it is rather homely no?” They pause, again looking at the boxes. “Aha, here. Let me get you a cup. Oh and please call me Lex.”

Waiting for the tea to brew, Lex eyes the bands on the Gengar curiously. “I do hope you don’t mind me asking, but you wouldn’t happen to have a human would you? It just often Pokemon with… Shall we say accessories, have owners or trainers.”
