this is perfection, i actually have this whole analysis about kara and confidence/narcissism, drawing from my own experience as an emotional theatre kid of course, because one of two things tend to happen, and sometimes both happen and fluctuate, 1 is that you have trouble handling reality so you kind of dilute yourself into a false reality you can handle, meaning you kinda have to trick yourself into thinking everything isn’t terrible and that you don’t hate yourself, as a defense mechanism, because people who are naturally dramatic might seem like they’re faking an overracting, but they genuinely sometimes feel an emotion so strongly that it overloads the system, or 2 you are fully aware that you hate yourself, but you don’t want to hate yourself because you want to be better, so you try to ‘fake it ‘til you make it’, and being an actor you’re really dedicated to holding up the facade 24/7, lest you slip up for a second and lose all your hard earned progress, in either case it’s very apparent from his behavior that he’s not actually a narcissist, maybe the show meant for him to be, but narcissists aren’t that kind, narcissists don’t just sit down and take what happens to them, narcissists don’t just follow everyone else’s lead, i think he knows he’s not confident, but he sees that the ‘cool people’ are the ones who look confident, and he knows he isn’t like so he WANTS to be like so all he knows to do is to try to mimic people who are, but he kinda misinterprets some things and goes in the wrong direction, which just makes it worse which ust makes him try harder which just makes it worse again, etcetera you can see where that’s going, karamatsu, queue.
