I want to write down my version (one of versionsâŠ) what the office and narrator are, and so on! So, I have that theory, that Narrator IS Stanley, and also he is the boss, and that one day events, which described in âstoryâ actually happened - Stanley couldnât find anyone, he couldnât find his boss too, he found mind control machine, and, actually took control over it, but instead of explosion he became the new boss, but, as he aged, he started to be really scared to lose all this, because he was obssessed with his new powers (as someone, who used to be ordinary cubicle monkey all his life), and not wanted to lose them (no matter if because of death or something else)⊠and, so, he put his mind inside of the machine (which makes him only even MORE like glados, but whatever).
My narrator and Stanley look different, because narrator has difficulties to remember what he looked like (thatâs why in the entry of tsp Stanley looks like if he had black hair, and then u see that he has brown hair, and bossâs picture doesnât show his face, and mirror is dimmed, and so on), although he wouldnât reflect in the clear mirror too, and he also canât always remember the office correctly (restarts from different places, geometrically weird office in common), so, yup, office is his mindscape⊠but, at the same time, office exists in reality, but who will get in there will appear in the mindscape-office before notices that anything changed, and, sometimes, other employees, who are âfrozenâ (because not literally) in reality are included in the mindscape-office, if narrator needs them to remember something (or just feels lonely).
Narrator not actualy realizes, that he is Stanley - they two are really distant from each other, so they are fighting, but, they are still one person, Stanley as employee 427 is narratorâs attempt to remember what he used to be like when he was human, and remember how did it happen in general. The insults&explosion in countdown ending (which in actual story made Stanley/narrator powerful ruler of company) happen, because Stanley (unconsciously) hated himself for what he had done, and felt guilty about using mind-control on people he used to know and (kind of) love, and thatâs how it reflects in his mind. There are many things, which are just repressed/denied Stanleyâs thoughts and emotions, because after he put himself in the machine, his mind fell on the parts and now canât work normally.
Also, I have oc for tsp, Maybell, who looks similar with my version of museum narrator, and this isnât incidentally - Stanley, before effect of machine on his mind became too bad, wanted to recreate office maximally similar in the future, but he forgot little details all the time (sometimes not-so-little ones too), so, he needed someone, who would help him to remember the place better, and Maybell had unusual memory about little things, like cups, or pictures on the walls, and was able to remember REALLY many things, so he put her mind in special place of the machine and her memory is used to recreate office similarly to what it used to be like in reality (she, also, often stole and storaged many things from office in her room, hense her place inside of machine presented as a museum). She, as Stanley, happens to be older in reality, than she appears like as employee, and hole in her ceiling - is a thing, which left after she was kidnapped from her office with force (because she became paranoid (and rightly so) and not wanted to leave her office when boss called her to âtalkâ). And, yes, in reality Maybellâs hair were curly, but she forgot about this, thatâs why Maybell-employee happens to have different hairstyle.
Iâll soon think of what employee 432, adventure line and âwifeâ have to do with this too, although, things about wife are almost ready
