Ace: (singing softly) Walk on wondering souls for you respite we pray, let our humble song clear your hearts of dismay....(hears the door open and stops)
Deuce: Oh, Ace, sorry, did I bother you?
Ace: Hi Deuce, no, not at all. Just singing a bit.
Deuce: Zero?
Ace: Yeah, (and continues singing) rekindle the flame in your souls and set you free. So walk on and become the light that guides the way...
Deuce: It’s such a pretty song...Mother used to sing us that a lot. Though looking through the Crysarium, I saw that it has dated back to almost the first l'cie! The song was originally a ballad, talking about the hardships of war, tugging at heartstrings. Through the centuries, there have been multiple translations of the song from the old language.
Deuce: ... Oh, I didn't mean to ramble!
Ace: No, it's interesting and I like what you have to say. Please, go on.
Deuce: Well, my favorite translation of the Zero is (sings): The lost children's footsteps have disappeared, leaving in their stead a song of prayer. But with hope, it will turn into a flame that will light a torch for the ones who will come after...
Ace: Wow, I haven't heard that version of the song before. It's very beautiful. Though I like the one Mother sang better because the lyrics matched the melody well.
Deuce: (pleased) That one, truthfully, I think has been tweaked to hide war from children, and as a result it loses a lot of it's poetic value. (Thinking thoughtfully)
Ace: yeah...However, I also feel that it puts a more positive spin on things, and brings some hope to these war-ridden times.
Deuce: (giggling/smiling) that's very thoughtful of you, Ace.
