Poppy and Lunoctin, how do you know Pikkan? I mean other than as a friend. That part is obvious.
“I’m gonna answer this one, because I know Lunoctin won’t. I myself, I just sort of ran into them together one day, we hung out, clicked, and we started hanging out more often.”
“Lunoctin and Pikkan, though... I don’t know how they met. Pikkan doesn’t really remember and Lunoctin just won’t talk about it. I’ve been asking for years, but he won’t spill. It’s rather curious, though...”
Hey now, I don't know anything about your dreams and such. I was only asking. I thought it was a soul thing, but I guess not. Surely, you don't do all that work on your own. Can't go Thunderbolting everything you see alone. Or do you not Thunderbolt them? Better yet, use your Pika-psychic powers if you got 'em.
“Nope! I don’t do it on my own, But I should probably explain what I do, huh?”
“Okay, so. I’m one of many, /many/ Pokemon who go out and gather Dream Drops. Basically, we choose from a bunch that are still out and open, and we go to set out on that.”
We go to the Dream, and try our best to just make it to the Core, though if we see a Boss Nightmare, we are asked to try and stop them from causing too much trouble.”
Once we do that, and Secure the Dream or Nightmare drop, we go back to the Dream park, where the Dreams and nightmares are mixed to create Astral Essence.”
To help us with that, we use tools that we call Keyblades, which are effective against figments, though pokemon moves are still useful. In addition, Spirits do help us out, whether native to the Dream we visit, or made from our own Dreams and experiences and can be summoned to help. And, ultimately, a few of us Drop gatherers can go together to help with these.”
“Well, Aren’t you popular? I hope you didn’t forget your friends with your new fame.”
“Oh, Hush, Lunoctin. You’re just jealous he got to answer those questions instead of you.”
The Quilava and Absol walk up the way to the Clocktower, Teasing Pikkan and The Quilava respectively.
“Poppy! Lunoctin! I was afraid I’d have to give you melted Ice cream, come, sit!”

How do you collect dream drops? Do you gotta fight badies? Or do you like take them from dead bodies?
“That’s.... That’s really morbid. No, uh-- sometimes we don’t have to fight anything at all. We just have to find the Core of the Dream, take just what is needed, and then close it off so it’s safe. We take care not to take from someone if they’ve had the move dream eater used on them, or if they’ve been otherwised lowered on their Dream drop.”
Dream Drops and Nightmare Drops, huh? Are you saving those for something? Or just so you can make more, uh, dream pokemon? Can I have one?
“We use them to make Astral Essence, which is used for many things: The creation of new ‘Dreams,’ Powering the Dream Park, and everything. And, as for asking for a Dream drop-- You already have one. Anything that’s sentient has a Dream Drop, you just don’t know it!”
What do you do when you go into a dream? Not trying to brainwash anyone, are you?
“Nope! We just harvest things called ‘Dream Drops.’ Same thing pokemon tap into when they perform Dream eater. Just enough so it doesn’t become a beacon for Nightmare figments.”
“There’s a counterpart called ‘Nightmare drops,’ Which spawns nightmares. Those, we gather to try and keep Nightmares from overrunning them.”
Figments? Like "figment of the imagination"? Sounds fake. How can you be a dream and ALSO real? Do you invade dreams and like eat them or something? Last time I checked, Pikachus can't learn Dream Eater.
“Oooh boy, let me get to these. Uhm... That’s what they’re called, Cresselia and Darkrai called them. And This is where dreams are-- How can you say a Dream doesn’t really exist: After all, you dream it.”
He paused, scratching his chin.
“And even then, I’ve already said That these aren’t dreams as you know them, more of a subconscious. And, I don’t eat dreams, but I do go into them! And yes, most Pikachu can’t learn dream eater. Any other questions?”
Embodiments of negative emotions. How... delicious. But here, let me ask you something. How intelligent are they? Can they really think much about what they are doing or how? Or are they simply driven by instinct and that force which created them? Really, how much of an adversary are they?
“That also does depend on the type of nightmare.
“Lesser nightmares do not have much of an intelligence: They act on instinct, usually relating to the emotion they’re tied to. Unless they’re controlled by something they can, they just sort of... attack at random.
“Boss Nightmares, though, do have some form of intelligence. However, it’s mostly a twisted caricature of what they’re tied to. Think of it as the little voice in your head-- I suppose kind of like you.”
“... You’re not a boss Nightmare figment, are you?”
Honey: You mentioned "figments", what exactly are they? The way you mentioned them almost sounds like they're alive.
“Well-- In a sense, they are.”

He hummed, trying to think of a good way to explain what they were.
“Well, There’s two basic types: Spirits and Nightmares.
“Spirits are embodiments of positive feelings and emotions-- The Stronger the memory or feeling, the stronger the resulting spirit. Spirits actually help us on our missions here in the World of Dreams.
“Nightmares, on the other hand, are embodiments of negative emotions and memories-- Some of these, which result from Strong fears and even Phobias, are considered a different type of Nightmare.”
“These types of nightmares are almost as much of a threat to the people they’re spawned in as much as they are to us: If left unchecked, they can cause serious problems.”
“That’s not to say that defeating these is a one-way ticket to better mental health-- it’s a stop-gap measure at best, an unhealthy coping mechanism at worst. The only way to fully deal with these is with help.”
He smiled, offering an ice cream to the Flareon.
“Though, I’ll be ever happy to help if you ever think I’ll help you out with something like that!”

“Cresselia and Darkrai both-- Dreams and Nightmares co-exist in the waking world, they might as well co-exist here.”
The Pikachu gave a smile to the Ratatta, offering an ice cream to him.
“And, even then-- I guess that dreams aren’t exactly ‘Dreams,’ as you know them. They’re... They’re more akin to a subconscious then an actual dream. Figments Go on with that, too.”
Hey, what are you doing all alone out here? It looks kinda scary with the dreary skies and whatever nebulous clouds those are.
“Mmm? Oh! Hi, sorry. I’m waiting for someone here, but...”
The Pikachu smiled, looking out over the clouds.
“It’s Not so much that the skies are dreary here-- It’s just what they look like, here in the world of dreams. I can tell you about them if you’d like?”
A Pikachu seems to not have noticed you yet-- Though it does appear he’s waiting for a few people. He does seem lost in thought, though. Perhaps you ought to talk to him?
DREAM DROPS IS OFFICIALLY BACK OPEN! It’s a half-soft reboot. Asks sent out will still have “Happened,” But the lore here has been tweaked some!
