As I’ve mentioned before I enjoy gremlins! I like a lot of genres and don’t have a specific favourite, horror is always one I like.

Did you know, in the sequel to Gremlins, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, the gremlins all meet up and have an musical sequence? The sequel is much more of a comedy than the previous film, but it has, in my opinion, a much more frightening design thanks to special effects artist Rick Baker! (It also opens with a Looney Tunes short)

Film Noir, eh? Got any favorites? Something you just *have* to watch if you saw it playing on the tube? -🎬

Honestly? Most of ‘em are more a manner of mood, where I’ll seek out the specific film that suits my current train of thoughts.

But the one I am always, 100%, no context needed, absolutely down to watch come what may?

Ooh, I remember watching dr Strangelove in class once for a film analysis unit. It was.... quite an experience. Especially as the teacher went into great detail about the innuendos and references.

"Gentlemen. You can't fight in here. This is the War Room!"

It is quite the experience! A bit of an anti-comedy, where the sheer absurdity and irony of the events occurring drives the actual humor.

Did you know the ever-talented Peter Sellers almost played 4 different characters in the film? In the end, he plays three: the titular Dr. Strangelove, President Merkin Muffley, and Group Captain Lionel Mandrake. His fourth role would have been Major "King" Kong. Sellers didn't particularly want the extra role believing he wouldn't be able to get the Texan drawl correct. Screenwriter Terry Southern grew up in Texas and helped him master the accent, only for Sellers the sprain his ankle. The injury would have made filming impossible in the B-52 Cockpit, so the role was given to Slim Pickens.

I don't know yet. Not to restate the obvious, but she mentioned we would be having tea, which sounds delightful. I imagine we will discuss her illustrious career, but until it happens, I have no clue where the conversation will go!

Speaking of marathons, I've got Dr. Strangelove queued and ready to be viewed, with 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and A Clockwork Orange on the menu next. After that, I'll probably try to rest up a bit.

So what kind of wacky schemes do you have planned now that you're free from Arkham?

Naturally, I have a couple of plots rattling around in my mind, but first things first: I need to set up shop somewhere and catch up on the latest releases. Disney just released a new film based on Tarzan of the Apes, they remade The Mummy, there's a new Star Wars, AND Kubrick's releasing a new movie in a couple weeks? I'm so behind!

Elizabeth White? That name definitely does sound familiar... Hold on a second... Yes! She starred in, like, 20 films back in the 1950s and 60s! Gosh, I haven't heard anything about her in a while; I figured she had passed away. If it really is her, I'm going to be starstruck!
