Only the 4th day of school and it is already official that we have the worst team...

Suspended for 3 days for threatening the math teacher

Wrote on a brand new wall with marker

Threatening to fight each other

Fighting on the bus

Defiance, defiance, defiance

Won't even listen to the principal

I've lost my touch in 2 months. I could bang out a lesson plan in 15 minutes.

It just took my 2 hours to finish this one. Oh well... at least the first two weeks are finished.

In other news my Post-It paper and chart markers are here. I'm about to turn up on these anchor charts!

This job is so depressing some days.

These kids are 11, 12, and 13 and they constantly talk about fighting, weed, alcohol, sex, and other topics inappropriate for their age. And what bothers me isn't that they are talking about it but they are proud of their actions and see nothing wrong. They should still be watching Disney Channel and playing with imaginary friends.

Most teachers pay for their own graduate school and ongoing professional training, and over 92 percent buy supplies for their students out of their own pockets. But over the past few years, we’ve seen over 60 percent of teachers working second jobs, dining with their children at food banks, and even selling their blood to make ends meet. Examples of such financial stress and strain can be found in every state in the country; quality teachers are walking away from the profession, and salaries are part of the reason they leave. Is this the way we want any of our teachers to live? Is this what we think will lead students to higher levels of achievement?

Donors Choose Project! Please help! Use code- INSPIRE!

Hello ladies and gentleman, I hate to do this but I have created a Donors Choose project. I currently work in a school district that is unaccredited. The news of the accreditation and uncertainty of the future has taken a toll on my students. Also thrown in the pot is the fact that over 90% of my students receive free or reduced lunch. This means that many of them can't provide the extra school supplies needed to work in the classroom. I have tried to provide as much as possible but it is impossible to continue to provide for 150 students. 

We are a project-based, hands on classroom which means we do a lot of creation in order to reinforce the concepts taught. I am also a strong advocate of a colorful classroom filled with student work. In order to continue this we are in dire need of basic items-- construction paper, scissors, glue, and composition notebooks for our interactive student notebook. 

Our project is already half funded and I would love if you could help fund the rest of the project. I know my students would greatly appreciate your help, so would I.

Hello!!! I currently teach approximately 150 very inquisitive 7th graders World Geography and Economics. Our classroom is very hands on-- we are constantly creating maps, 3-d models, posters, and other displays to showcase our learning. Unfortunately my school is 100% free/reduced lunch and my students simply can't provide all the necessary materials needed. I have tried to provide as much as I can but it comes with a hefty price. My students deserve the best and their skin color or urban school status should not get in the way.

A Warning to Young People: Don't Become a Teacher

Young teachers from across the United States have told me they no longer have the ability to properly manage classrooms not because of lack of desire, but because of upper administration decisions to reduce statistics on classroom referrals and in-school and out-of-school suspensions.

Not gonna lie. Kinda upset the newspaper spent almost an hour in my classroom observing, taking pictures, and talking to my kids only to mention the teacher who said he plays soccer with the kids after school.

And guess who got a shoutout from the supervisor like his quote was really that big a deal...

School starts August 12th

First year teacher anxiety is really starting to kick in, yet I'm so excited! I have a bunch of resources and ideas... now is the time to start putting pen to paper. I need to streamline what I want to use.

I didn’t teach Year 10 Maths last year…

Which means that until a little over a term ago, this resource folder was empty.
