1235 look down at his lap, a hot wave of shame suddenly going through his body. “YOU DID NOT REMEMBER ME, I WAS REPLACED BY A NEWER MODEL, MY STABILIZERS ARE BROKEN SO I CANNOT WALK…” He laughed dryly. “I JUST…DID NOT SEE THE POINT. I AM SORRY.” 1235 moved closer to 7201 to hug him, but then suddenly stopped and glanced away. “…I MISSED YOU. A LOT.”

He stared down for a moment, processing what he just heard. “SO YOU JUST…THREW YOURSELF AWAY?” All things considered, 7201 did guess it could be considered reasonable. But, it still rubbed him the wrong way. “PROMISE ME NOT TO DO THAT AGAIN.” His gaze slid up, examining the sorry state 1235 was in. “YOU NEED REPAIRS. AS DO I.” He got up, picking up the janitor bridal style. It was easier and a lot more courteous than throwing the poor bot over his shoulder. “…I THINK. I MISSED YOU TOO.”

The poor janitor needed a moment to understand what 7201 was saying, but when he did he shakily laughed, wrapping his arms around 7201. "I PROMISE." 1235 fell silent for a moment, leaning his forehead around the therapist's cheek as he thought. "HOW LONG WAS I OFFLINE? I DO NOT HAVE...SEVERAL WEEKS OF MEMORY." Months, even.

There was a faint whirring noise, followed by a rough grinding noise. 1235’s optics flickered on and off a few times before eventually starting up completely.

"WHA…?" 1235 looked around, wiping the dust off his optics. Once he saw 7201, he tensed up a little. "OH…HELLO. WHY DID YOU RESTART ME?" For all he knew, 7201 didn’t remember him. He glanced away from 7201, cringing at the way his joints creaked as he buttoned up his jumpsuit.

"MAYBE I DIDN’T WANT TO SEE YOU STUCK IN THE TRASH. WHAT WERE YOU EVEN DOING IN THERE?" He stared blankly up at 1235, trying to figure out what to say next. "…I’VE BEEN SEARCHING ALL OVER THE TOWER FOR YOU AND 1088. I DIDN’T EXPECT TO FIND YOU IN THERE." Without thinking he leaned in and wiped 1235’s faceplate down with his sleeve, getting rid of some of the grime and dust.

1235’s optics were a dull grey color, his face and clothes covered in dirt and dust. He’d been offline for a while now, and he stared up at 7201 with blank eyes.

His jumpsuit was undone down the chest, his hand stuck in his open chest compartment. With his state of disrepair and his hand pressed against several wires and emergency switches, it wasn’t hard to figure out what had happened to him.

Oh, no. No no no. Once he’d pulled out 1235, 7201 set him down against a wall to examine the janitor. He had enough technical know-how to start 1235 back up, but right now he was left in a state of distress. All of his searching ended up with…this?

He shook his head. Whatever. First, he had to start 1235 back up. With a grunt 7201 plopped down in front of him, pulling his arm out of his chest and putting a few wires back into their place before flipping the power switch on.

In his current state, 7201 could barely see a foot in front of him. So, it wasn't any surprise when he ran into the bin sitting around. He stumbled backwards, struggling to figure out what it was in front of him. There was some blue stumps sticking out of what appeared to be a trash bin of some sort. As he peered in, 7201 spotted a familiar rust color. "ER, 1235...?"

1088 opened his mouth to reply when suddenly he saw the cat slide off of 7201’s shoulder, about to fall off! “*BZZT!* W-W-W-WOAH THERE!" he exclaimed, reaching his arms over and scooping up 1235 quickly, holding him close to his chest. " AR-AR-ARE YOU OK? YOU MADE ME FEEL AFRAID. YOU HAVE TO BE CARE-CAREFUL. YOU COULD B-BREAK YOURSELF OR SOMETHING." his voice was a bit loud in volume, and after another buzzing sound, he turned it down, just hugging onto the cat tightly.

After a few moments he looked up at 7201. “I THINK-I THINK-I THINK HE KNOWS WHERE WE CAN FIND THE MEDICAL WING SIR-SIR. IT LOOKED LIKE HE WAS TRY-TRYING TO SHOW U-US.”

Had 1088 not reacted as fast as he had, 7201 would’ve nearly dropped him in surprise. Instead he halted in his footsteps, glancing down at the two to check up on them. While he stayed silent throughout the whole ordeal, the bot nodded at 1088’s statement. “HE TUGGED ON MY SWEATER TOWARDS WHAT I BELIEVE IS THE NURSING BAY. THIS CAT’S SMARTER THAN MY OWN. HAHAH.” He let himself smile slightly, although not really at anything in particular. Almost as fast as it appeared, his smile vanished as he turned the corner into an even darker hallway, although the masterbuilder sight did strangely let him see a little better. Shame that it also obscured part of his field of vision. “…NOW THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS. IT’S NOT POSSIBLE FOR THERE TO BE SO LITTLE ACTIVITY, THIS WAS A WHOLE TOWER BUSTLING WITH ACTIVITY FROM ROBOTS AND HUMANS. WHAT HAPPENED?” Well, 7201’s perception of time was a little skewed, yes. Holing yourself up in your office did that to you, even if you were well-maintained and had plenty of animal company.

It took a few seconds for 1235 to realize what had happened to him. Once he did, he pressed himself against 1088's chest, occasionally glancing up to make sure they were going the right way. It was really dark, and although 1235 could see strangely well in darkness, it made him nervous. He stared up at 7201 questioningly, wishing he could ask why everything was so dark and quiet. Instead, he simply curled up into a tight ball, hoping his friends found help soon. And maybe he could get some help too, when the magic wore off. He winced as he realized he would probably lose use of his legs when he went back to normal.

1088 was now staying absolutely silent after 7201 had snapped at him. He looked down, trembling, feeling like his opticals were about to start trickling black oil, when suddenly he noticed the cat was…trying to touch him? He looked up at 1235, curious about his behavior. He…was touching his tie? Oh! He must like his tie! He smiled a little at that thought, reaching up carefully and touching 1235 on the forehead. He watched with wide eyes, eagerly awaiting what the strange creature would do next.

Scrap, that probably hadn’t been a good idea. Inspecting 1088, he found signs of sadness and he felt himself about to open his mouth before another warning message appeared, interrupting his procedures. With a heavy sigh, he shakily stood up and adjusted his hold on 1088. Hopefully 1235 wouldn’t fall off. Once he was as certain as he could get that neither of the two would slip out of his grasp and fall, 7201 began walking once more but at a slower and steadier pace. “…I’M SORRY. YOU’RE ALLOWED TO SPEAK.” Tilting his head slightly to rest it against 1235, he sighed again as he quietly walked on, flinching every now and then at the occasional flashing in his vision.

The cat meowed, shoving his face against 1088's hand happily. His tail was moving back and forth quickly now, occasionally whacking against the back of 7201's head. 1235 reached his paws out, kneading them against 1088's chest. Soon, however, he was brought back to attention as 7201 flinched. They needed to make it to the medical ward. 1235 hoped his memory of where it was was correct. As soon as they neared a  corner, 1235 bit the neck of 7201's sweater, pulling him in (what he hoped was) the right direction. He pulled a little harder than needed, however, and yowled as his back legs fell off of 7201, leaving him dangling by his front paws.

The small delivery bot got startled when 7201 almost ran into the cat, and made a loud static-y buzzing sound, afterwards feeling embarrassed about it when he saw it was just a small…creature of some sort? It looked very soft, just like 7201’s hair looked soft. He blinked at it, attempting to scan it using his opticals, but no luck. That must have something to do with his memory chip too. Oh well, since 7201 had spoken to it and it seemed to respond by following them and making what seemed like affectionate gestures, maybe he could try communicating with it too.

“H-H-HELLO THERE SMALL CREATURE. Y-YOU LOOK VERY STraNGE *BZZZT* B-BUT ALSO...ER WHAT IS THE W-WORD I AM LOOKING FOR? O-O-O-O-O*BZZ!* OH I THINK THE WORD IS C-C-C-"CUTE". YES YOU L-LOOK VERY CUTE. AND ALSO S-SOFT. ARE YOU A-ABLE TO COMMUNICATE? WE ARE TRAVELING TO THE MEDICAL-MEDICAL-MEDICAL WING. WE ARE TRYING TO FIND MORE OCTAN ROBOTIC TASK UNITS. WE CANNOT SEEM TO FIND ANY SO F-FAR.”

"CAN YOU STOP TALKING FOR ONE SECOND!?" 7201 snapped at 1088, his grip tightening on the shorter bot as he scowled at him. Once he took a deep breath to calm himself, the therapist sighed and kneeled to get a better look of the cat. "…AREN’T YOU THE SAME ONE FROM BEFORE?" Strange. Well, at the least he supposed the ginger tom could tag along if he wanted. Besides, he seemed insistent on being picked up. While 7201 had his arms full, he lowered one shoulder down to the cat for 1235 to climb up. It was the least he could do at the moment.

1235 jumped onto 7201's shoulder, scrambling for a moment to avoid falling off before he found a comfortable position. He stared down at 1088, his ears perking up as he leaned towards the delivery bot. "Mew?" 1235 asked, carefully reaching a paw out and patting 1088's face. Then, worried 7201 might get jealous, he rubbed his face against 7201's, purring quietly. However, he was quickly distracted by something gently moving. What was that??? 1235 stared at 1088's tie in wonder, his tail swishing around with interest. Hesitantly, he reached out and batted the cloth. Once he was certain it wouldn't attack, he leaned out farther, playing with the tie and pressing his back feet into 7201's shirt to keep balance.

1088 blinked in surprise as he suddenly found himself in 7201’s arms, looking up at him. His facial plating heated up for reasons he didn’t really know. Probably embarrassment? Yeah, that. He decided to just ignore it and nod in response to the other’s words, feeling admittedly more comfortable than he did before.

“TH-TH-THANK YOU." he replied, wrapping his arms around the therapist’s neck and holding on as they made their way all the way back from where they came from."

"YOU’RE WELCOME." Every now and then 7201 had to stop and take a break, giving his overworked system some time to sort itself back out before continuing onwards. "…THIS IS A SILLY QUESTION TO ASK, WITH YOUR BROKEN MEMORY CHIP, BUT IF YOU EVER REMEMBER ANYTHING THAT COULD INVOLVE ME, PLEASE LET ME KNOW." 7201 had been struggling with a lack of knowledge on who he had been for far too long, and by now he was grasping at straws for anything he could get. It was obvious others preferred who he used to be, so obviously it was best if he was just. Back to the way he used to be. In the middle of his train of thought, 7201 didn’t notice the cat trotting along until he nearly tripped over them. "FOOBAR-" Jerking backwards, he managed to avoid running into the stray by a hairs breadth. "SORRY." Apologizing to a cat probably seemed ridiculous to to others, but 7201 figured it was common sense.

1235 jumped backwards, his fur puffing up in surprise. He blinked, staring up at 7201 and 1088 in confusion. He was happy to see 1088 again, but he didn't understand why 7201 was carrying him. A little hurt, 1235 walked beside 7201, rubbing up against his legs and meowing, practically begging to be picked up. 1088 didn't...look very good, were they going to the medical ward?  1235 hoped they hadn't moved it since he was offline and then trapped in a closet. That wouldn't make things any easier for them.

As he made his way down the halls, 7201 rapped his knuckles against the walls out of boredom. That, and to distract himself from the strange hallucinations he seemed to have obtained with his supposed masterbuilder abilities. Error messages were popping up left and right, and it was hard to see past both those and the strange sights he was having. Frustrated, he rubbed his screen and glowered at anything that he could make out from admist his visions. Like that weird orange blot moving around.

1235 had managed to escape from 2346 and was now running towards 7201’s office. While he was sure 7201 wouldn’t recognize him and the thought of being around him hurt a little, he needed to feel safe. Luckily for him, he found 7201 much easier than expected. The little cat meowed loudly, cautiously approaching 7201 before rubbing up against his legs. Meowing again, he got on his hind legs and pressed his paws against 7201’s leg, asking to be picked up. He was starting to slide around due to his shaky position, so he instinctively sunk his claws into 7201’s pants.

While he didn’t object to 1235’s affection, 7201 wasn’t entirely sure how to feel about it. In the end he sighed and simply accepted it. Not only that, but this cat seemed a little too…expressive, if that was even the right word, to be some random stray. There was something about the look he gave 7201 earlier that gave a strange feeling of déjà vu. Although that probably wasn’t the right way to describe what the therapist felt, either. “YOU’RE NOT THE PRODUCT OF SOME OTHER MAGIC ANONYMOUS CREATURE, ARE YOU?” Pausing inbetween his sentences, he tilted his head to get a better view of 1235 in his entirety. “…YOU’RE VERY CUTE. I GUESS THAT IS SOMETHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR.” With that, 7201 pet the ginger cat lightly to try and reciprocate his friendly mannerisms.

1235's ears perked up. He mewed happily, his tail swishing around as he tried to show 7201 he was correct. 7201's petting made him happy, and he leaned into the bot's touch. With all the bad stuff that had been going on lately, he really missed cuddling with 7201. He felt a little guilty that 7201 didn't know he was the janitor he had argued with before, but there wasn't much he could do about that. Purring loudly, 1235 settled into 7201's arms, before slowly turning  around and exposing his fluffy belly. He has seen the therapist's kittens do that on occasion, and it seemed like the right thing to do at the moment.

Oh. Well that was a little more than just a random glob of orange now. He leaned over to get a better view, finally able to pick out some of the cat’s features with a little bit of staring. “OH…HELLO THERE.” That was strange. He didn’t expect a stray cat roaming the tower to be so friendly, especially to him, but he stood still long enough for it to approach. 7201 barely registered the feeling of claws scraping against metal; by now he was more than used to the sensation from dealing with kittens and one big fussy momma cat.

Carefully cradling 1235 in his arms, 7201 tilted his head as he further examined him. “AT LEAST I’M NOT THINKING OF WAYS TO BUILD YOU INTO SOME OTHER CRAZY CONTRAPTION. CREATIVITY IS SO STRANGE.” The words came out of his mouth before he knew what he was saying, and 7201 froze up when he processed what he jsut said. “….THIS IS SILLY FOR ME TO ASK OF A CAT BUT DON’T EVER TELL ANYONE WHAT I SAID. THEY’LL HAVE MY HEAD, I’M ALREADY ENOUGH OF A WRECK AS IT IS.”

1235 purred, more than happy to curl up in 7201's arms. His ear flicked as he listened to 7201, staring up at him with wide eyes. Did 7201 imply what he thought he implied? That was a scary thought, and 1235 quickly pushed it out of his head. He looked up at 7201, bracing his legs against 7201's shoulder as he stood and licked his face. His tail swished back and forth and he tried to think of a way to communicate with 7201. But if 7201 knew it was him...would he even care? Still, he needed to try anyways. The janitor meowed loudly, kneading his paws into 7201's shoulder and rubbing against his faceplate. Talking obviously wasn't working out, 1235 need to think of another way.

Everybody Wants To Be A Cat

A small orange cat was struggling to get himself untangled from 1235’s jumpsuit, meowing loudly. 1235 was for once glad that a magical intruder had put a spell on him, since he was finally able to get out of his bindings, and he could walk again. He looked up and finally noticed 2346, his bushy tail puffing up as he attempted to back up. 2346 got on his hands and knees, extending a hand to the cat. “1235…IS THAT YOU?” He asked. While it didn’t seem possible, it seemed to be the only option. The door had been firmly locked, and the cat was bright orange and had two pieces of fur sticking out behind it’s ears. Picking up 1235 (and ignoring his indigent mewling), 2346 started to head for the nurse’s bay. “WE NEED TO GET YOU FIXED.”

A Change of Heart

2346 blinked, his head spinning for a moment before everything returned to normal. Almost immediately, pressure started building up behind his optics. How could he have been so cruel to 1235!? They were both janitorial units, they were practically family! He turned and ran for the janitor’s closet, knocking on the door and fiddling with the lock. “OH NO. 1235, I AM COMING TO HELP YOU! I’M SO SORRY FOR PUTTING YOU IN HERE!” Once the bot had gotten the door open, he stared down in confusion at what he found inside.

He reached into his pocket, taking out his own name tag and swapping it with 1235's. "IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT EVERYONE YOU GET ANGRY WITH? NOT VERY GOOD AT YOUR JOB THEN, I WOULD PRESUME."
