A laugh breaks free from her chest at so lavish a display of kindness. “ Oh - they look exquisite! ” she exclaims, gesturing brightly towards the arrangement of pastries and boxes waiting to be relished. “ How lucky I am, to have so loving a friend! ” Her hand finds the younger woman’s knee and encloses it in a grateful squeeze, a smile of unbridled pleasure lighting up her features. Curiosity overtakes her, then, and she seizes the larger of the two boxes, weighing it quizzically in her palm to assess its contents. “ May I? ” Here’s to the hope that her enthusiasm shall be forgiven: swept away by her delight, Anne tears into the gift well before she can receive an answer, fingers nimble in their quick deconstruction of the silken ribbon, the wrapping paper, and the elegant casing underneath. Then —

         “ Ah! ” A gust of awe-struck breath. “ How splendid — you do know me all too well! ” The sumptuous fabric is soon lifted from its bedding, the threads as light and liquid as water in Anne’s grasp. Silver embroideries adorn the midnight-dark cravat, gleaming with the faintest emerald hue as Anne strokes her thumb along the fine material.

          “ Mm. Your colours. I shall think of you all day, surely, whenever I wear them. ” She looks up, catching Shego’s gaze in her own, and holds out the cravat in silent invitation. Her grin contains a challenge. “ Will you help me put it on? ”

Shego grinned, picking one up and taking a bite of of one. Shego's heart could have stopped when Anne squeezed her knee, her smile only widening. "You deserve only the best. In all of life." Shego answered her.

Shego moved closer when Anne picked up the first of the packages. She nodded her permission to open the gifts. "They're for you, please do." Shego watched her remove the ribbon, her mind blending the vision with fingers loosening the laces of a corset and her chest blushed in arousal and then-

Shego drew a breath in and grinned when the more handsome between them exclaimed at the gift and complimented her on knowing the brunette. Shego placed the other half of the macaron to Anne's lips. "Mourning is not the sole reason for wearing black, my dear. Black can, and should, be a color of celebration. Otherwise, are men dressed for a funeral on their wedding day? The death of their single life perhaps?" She smiled at Anne, her eyes matching her challenge with a smirk. "Will you allow me to be the only one to put on, and remove, your cravats?" Shego offered as she stood, sliding her hand over Anne's arm as she moved around the couch to behind her.

Shego leaned over to take the cloth from Anne's hands. "What else do you see in there?" Shego egged the brunette over her ear in a whisper.

Superpowers only manifest out of great danger or trauma, and they are related to the manner with which they were obtained. For example, a character gains the power to manipulate water after almost drowning, but since they were only underwater for about three minutes, they can only use their power in three minute spurts. In contrast, longer term trauma yields stronger/ less fatigable powers.

Unfortunately, this causes greedy parents to try to induce powers in their kids, and though a whole division of social work is dedicated to catching these parents and protecting children, social workers are often paid to look the other way.
