I’ve been wanting to draw at least one piece of Gravitation- fan art for so long!

(under the cut there is a small in-depth explanation why this series is so imporant to me. I’m not expecting anyone to actually read it but just wanted to get it outta my system~)

Started watching Gravitation again, and all I can think is that Yuki is a lot more patient with Shuichi than I originally thought. There’s this bouncy 18 year old with pink hair and a desire to be validated, and the 22 year old is just like, “Yeah, sure, I can give you this validation because I know what it’s like to want someone else to care about me.”

And of course, while Shuichi can be pretty self-focused, he really does care about Yuki, wanting Yuki to know that he’s loved, regardless of whatever he’s gone through.

i have to say i think the art and animation for gravitation has aged incredibly well, like it it clearly from the 90s/early 2000s but it has a clean minimalist aesthetic and a realism that i think renders it pretty timeless

I feel like Gravitation is Banana Fish in a slightly less depressing font

Cuz while Eiri is dealing with so much trauma he does get the win of killing his abuser— he just has to deal with the intense everlasting guilt of having done that
