"I can't believe you took up that contract."
"You act like I took a bat to your knees- what's got you so bothered?"
"You've heard the stories too, that and the company's in trouble for their violations-"
"There's a reason I go over papers with a fine-tooth comb. Listen, I'm parking, I'll have to call you later."
"You better!"
It took every ounce of willpower for Samara not to snip back 'And you aren't my mother.', but her friend had a point. Even humoring work for Fazbear Entertainment was like inviting an unwanted presence into the house, then you find out they ate your ice cream and left the freezer open! They were just worried about her, and rightfully so.
While the old rumors didn't scare her, she wasn't exactly settled on the matter. Part of why she poked her nose into the bottom of the barrel of offers was due to those rumors. Investigating those things without rousing suspicion was a different ballpark with idiot corpos all up in arms. It was too good to pass up.
When she finally arrived on-site, it didn't take long for the whiplash of post-90s decor assaulting her eyes. If it wasn't that, it was the eerie mechanical conversation wafting everywhere from the stage in the far end. Furrowing her brows, Sam would make her way towards the offices, attempting to avoid the sources of the idle chatter for the time being.
"Hello?" she called out upon reaching the admin offices in the back halls, knocking sharply against the door's frame, "New techie here and ready to get the ball rollin'!"
There isn't even a visible door to this Office, at least not a normal one. A somewhat wiry man in a fading purple suit turns to face her in a cheap-looking swivel chair. there is SO much to process in the Office, but she isn't given more than a few seconds before she's greeted.
"Ah, hello! You're Samara, did I get that right?" He stands, nodding and offering out a hand to shake. "Real, real glad you took this job. Partner wants to spruce this old place up. Had to twist his arm to hire in a real techie-type, haha. Erh, the name's Renard. Renard Doile. Pleasure!"
The Office is ... not organized, not one bit. Papers all over the desk, a significant number of security monitors the only thing keeping those papers from touching the wall. There's at least a desk fan, what looks like a mini-fridge ... old Fazbear's posters on the walls. Big buttons next to either doorway. Nothing looks any newer than perhaps 1987 if we're being generous.
"I'm the manager and co-owner of Fazbear Entertainment, and you're standing in the very first, original location! But enough about the history, yeah? I have some, erh, admittedly vintage training videos for you to view. Not your typical fare! Just, information about the proprietary technology that brings all our lovable characters to, erh, life! Metaphorically speaking. Haha."
Here, he steps aside and gestures to the long-suffering swivel chair before the monitors, shuffling to a shelf on one side of the office that clearly contains tapes of various kinds, including, of course, old training videos.
"See, you may have noticed, but we're missing one whole character for our show. Used to be a kid favorite back in the day." Renard sighs. "Hopefully with a little knowledge from our tapes, you can get him up and running again!"
"Hello fritzzz"
@springtrap-ed
"Ah-hah. Very funny, got some recording playing my name out. Good prank!" He tells himself, knowing he's alone in the building. And it's one am. Just him and these nuggets and a flat Mr Cherry soda. Just him, these nuggets, and some security cameras.
Every year or so I still draw my funny guy here to make sure I can still do it. In order, 2023, 2020, and 2021 editions. I still got it ...
The New Mechanic ...

From the outside, a business hiring a contractor to do their mechanical work for them during off-ish hours was nothing remarkable. This was a simple gig at one of those classic kiddie pizzeria places, couldn't really be that bad, right?
But this place is a little weird. These animatronics don't seem to be moving at all out of the ordinary for what one might expect, but they seem a lot more complicated than your typical powerful entertainment rat, you know?
There are three characters on the stage, currently in the middle of some banter, and one more stage, separated from the others, is blocked out by purple curtains bearing silvery star outlines, a sign in front of it marking it as OUT OF ORDER. Other than the occasional clearly aging floor or ceiling tile, the place is clean enough.
Though it's not that large of a restaurant, a sign marking the way to the Office is screwed into the wall, pointing helpfully down the hallway. New hires are requested to watch training videos, you see.

(( Happy Bday Mr Fazbear sir. Blog officially temporarily reopened!! ))
10th Anniversary!
It's FNAF's big 10th year of literally existing and that's kind of insane. this blog turns 10 in a couple of weeks, so I thought why not reopen asks for a while? I may even do some threads!
This blog, with little understatement, is the most important thing for me to look back on with regards to my creative endeavors. I don't think I'd be the same writer or artist if I hadn't jumped on the bandwagon all those years ago!
If you've ever wanted to ask any of the characters a question, well, now would be the time!
"Happy movie hourss, hope you dressed up!" --Nighshiftsecurity AKA Nina Stinger <3

She let out a small yelp out of being startled by the sudden sound of the tiny, airy voice. Quickly looking down, she saw the the small golden bear looking up at her. âA-ah! You heard us?â considering Blueberry and Chickadee from earlier in the other room, probably. Before she spoke again, she got down onto her knees on the floor to be closer to the small oneâs eye level.
âMy name is Chante. Chica is giving me a tour since Iâll be staying here for the rest of the night. You say this isâŚâ she trailed off in thought, but quickly snapped back upon realization of the specific present box prop and what it stood for. It was the box that belonged to a certain puppet, wasnât it?
âOh my gosh!â the womanâs eyes and grin grew large as her gaze stayed on the box. The Puppet was her most favorite of the animatronics from long ago, and to meet them in person?! Sentient?! She was clearly trying her best not to get too excited.
Goldie giggled softly, seeming to pick up on her excitement immediately. He nodded again, big blue eyes fixed on her for the moment. âmine and mister Jackâs. heâs a puppet! do you like puppets? want to meet him?â
Without waiting for a response, Goldie wandered over to the present box and knocked on the top of it softly. A soft âmmm?â was heard from within before the lid started to move. It tilted back, clearly on a hinge, as two thick, black arms pushed it up, quickly followed by a masked face.
Jack blinked, tilting his head towards Chante as he noticed her. âHello, and welcome to the only time we can talk off-script, my dear. Goldie, is this the guest Lynda mentioned earlier?â
    âuh-huh!â
âWell, let me formally introduce myself then. Iâm Jumping Jack. Though Jack works just fine around here.â He said as he stepped out of the box. All in all, he was no more than four feet tall, and far less noodley than most puppets. âItâs a pleasure.â
It was then that Chica remembered how Chanteâs visit had been predicted. Oh, right. No surprises around here anymore, thankfully. âRight! This is Chante. New crew member for the night.â
linkingstarlightâ:
âWell, I do like the idea of eating!â of course you would, you goat, âI donât have anything in terms of âjuicy gossipâ to give away, sadly. Movies are nice, I honestly donât see many of those.â she replied with a sheepish smile while looking between the three girls.
âWould some games work too? I would think some have games as well? ⌠Ah, maybe we can think over some ideas and see what works after the tour. I donât want to stall too much longer when we can get things set up to be ready for after Chica and I are finished!â
Chante felt guilty for suggesting to continue the tour and not dwell so much, but the sooner the tour is over, the sooner they can all get together and have fun until the sun comes up! Thatâs a good idea, right?
Chica nodded at that. She hated interrupting conversation, but if you donât stop Blueberry and Chickadee they will chatter until you fall asleep. Especially Chickadee. âWeâre not even halfway done, so how about you two go get something set up in the main room while I finish the tour?â
Blueberry and Chickadee grabbed each otherâs hands and bounced up and down excitedly. âYes!â
The two left the room, giggling. Frederick sighed, waving Chica and Chante off to the next room.
âThis way~!â Chica was feeling a bit proud of herself as she showed Chante into the next room. The walls were painted to look like the insides of starry purple curtains, and near the back to their right was a square stage that had a big present box sitting next to it. This looked to be a permanent feature. âThis is-â
âthis is mine and mister Jackâs room. I was wondering when youâd get here. who are you, miss?â A tiny, airy voice spoke up from beside Chante, like a whisper on the wind almost. And it was coming from a golden bear that was far shorter than she was, and staring up at her with big blue eyes.
linkingstarlight:
âWell, at least the place isnât too bad, and thereâs somewhere for me to sleep.â though sheâs not sure how to respond to the fact she wasnât the first case of someone strolling in at night. At least she can say sheâs one of the first who didnât get scared of their sentience?
âSleepover? I.. never had a sleepover beforeâŚâ Chanteâs expression showed less cheer in her response, even a little sad. To be honest, there were a lot of things Chante never got to experience, so she doesnât know what a lot of her interests are. Considering she was with her ex for a time, and the fact he essentially controlled what she got into and the like, she never had much chance to try things until after she ran off.
Though, the sadness was very brief, clearly hiding the fact there was something wrong in the first place with a smile and a more chipper tune. Perhaps at least Chica caught onto this behavior?
âWell, I suppose thereâs a first for everything, right? Maybe we can set something up after the tour?â
âNo sleepover?! Well, we have to like, do all sorts of sleepover stuff when youâre done, chickie!â Chickadee wiggled excitedly. âWe can gossip about crushes and make Jeremy set up the projector in the main room to watch movies or something!â
âThereâs popcorn in the employee cupboard too, hunny-bunny.â Blueberry chimed in. She seemed just as into the idea.
Chica seemed to notice Chante wasnât feeling well for at least a moment there, concentrating hard on not using her power while trying to give Chante a soft, comforting pat. âNone of us really have had a sleepover either dear, unless it counts as one when the guard nods off on duty. We can still come up with something though! Itâll be fun.â
linkingstarlight:
She gave a nod to Blueberry, âHello. Iâmââ before she could continue, Chante was cut off by the approach and commentary of Toy Chica. She wasnât too offended (hell, she gave a sheepish smile at being called adorable), theyâre probably just as excited to meet her and she is to meet them. Well, almost everyone. Toy Freddy doesnât look to be the sociable type. Best to leave him alone, at least for now, anyway.
âNice to meet the both of you! Iâm Chante, and Chica is showing me around since I.. am probably staying for the night?â she looked over at Chica after the pause, as if asking for clarification that was the plan for certain. Thatâs a good question, where will she âsleepâ? Well, knowing her, she could always stay up until she can leave in the morning.
âThis isnât my first time here, but it is my first time here after the renovations. Iâm amazed at how much changed in that timeframe.â
Chica nodded. âYou can stay! There are comfy couches in the Office. Also you technically canât leave, since we have to keep the door locked. But thatâs okay!â
âRight!â Chickadee chimed in. âItâs like, a sleepover! Almost.â
âItâll be fine, hunny-bunny.â Blueberry added. âYouâre not the only unexpected guest weâve had!â
linkingstarlight:
Even if it was a pun, Chante still let out a chuckle. Leave it to Chante to get amusement out of bad jokes, knowing they are considered bad jokes. What a wholesome dork.
She looked around the new room they entered, still in awe with the love put into this place. Whoever must be running the establishment now must be passionate about keeping the place alive and well!
âWould they not mind me? I wouldnât mind saying hello, if theyâll be okay with me here when they wake up.â she answered the bird, âItâs probably unusual for anyone to come in at night that isnât an employee, is it?â
âNot at all! Though Frederick doesnât really talk much to anyone. Heâs a bit of a grumpy bear. Donât worry, though! Everyone here will like you.â Chica giggled. âAnd your visitâs not all that weird. Jeremy likes to bring his daughter in, and sheâs good friends with all of us.â
At almost the exact same second, the toy chicken and toy rabbit stirred. The rabbit noticed Chica first, hopping off the stage. She almost seemed to glide over to them, as if she were on skates.
âHowdy, Chica! Oh my, who is this?â Blueberry looked Chante over, putting her hands up to her cheeks before meeting Chanteâs gaze. The rabbit sported a Southern accent. âHi hunny-bunny! Iâm Blueberry, and welcome to Freddyâs!â
This was immediately followed by the toy chicken making her way over, looking just as excited as Blueberry. âOh, like, nice! A new friend, huh, Chicks? Sheâs a-DOR-able! Iâm Chickadee, sweetie.â
Meanwhile, in the background, the toy bear stirred. He didnât seem too interested in joining the crowd, giving Chica a funny look instead of saying anything.
linkingstarlight:
Chante noticed Chicaâs reaction in those few seconds, and felt something along with that. Something triggered the bird, and it was something negative. She could feel that, but over what exactly, she had no idea. And the way she bounced back so suddenlyâŚ
âU-um.. Are you..â she meekly tried to ask about her reaction, but considering the tour, it was probably best to wait until later to ask, and followed behind with a slightly shrunken posture. What could have caused such a reaction in Chica? Better yet, Chante, how did you get all empathic with a robot?
The first room to check out was Pirateâs Cove, massive and fit the pirate theme much better than before. The woman was in awe at the drastic improvements, and even walked further in past the chicken to look around the ship to see if she could spot that arcade.
âOh, this is amazing!â She exclaimed, spinning about once like some cartoon princess. âIt was nothing like this when I was last here, and so roomy! I can see how this is a popular area, look at the paint! And the stage!â hell, she wouldnât mind sticking around for a little while herself if she wasnât so excited to see everything else! Maybe she could come back to Fazbearâs more often and visit the animatronics? Then again, theyâre not sentient during the day, are they?
She turns around back to facing Chica, beaming, âAre the other rooms as nicely decorated as this too?â
Chica certainly doesnât like her unintentional ability to invade peopleâs privacy, but for now she, too, is focusing on the tour. âYes! Every room has its own theme. They may have gone a bit... overboard... with this design, the ship really stands out--â
Just then, Chica briefly covered her face with her wing-arms. âOh my... Foxyâs bad jokes are rubbing off on me. Next room, then~!â
The chicken hurries off through a door to their left, into a room painted to look like the inside of a kidâs toybox. The three main Toy animatronics stood there, still looking inactive for now. âThose are Frederick, Blueberry, and Chickadee! Theyâre usually slower to wake up, though. Want to wait a minute and see if you can meet one of them?â
linkingstarlight:
Getting the searching look wasnât too pleasant, but it was understandable for him to do so. There was a moment of relief when he decided she was safe to stay for the night, but it didnât last lost with the threat he made. At least Chica was being the sweet motherly figure of the bunch for right now, which did alleviate it. Or, at least enough to be able to reply in return to his statements.
âD-donât worry, Iâll be on my best behavior.â she replied with a nervous smile, âThank you for letting me stay for the night.â
Then, she turned to Chica, âI would indeed! It has been a long time since I last visited, and Iâd like to see everything that changed since then! Just lead me around and Iâll follow?â she took the birdâs gesture to take her fluffy wing in her hand. This was meant to be a handshake, right? Or hand holding? She did perform just a handshake with it, at least.
âAll right!â She chirped, accepting the handshake. She paused suddenly, as if sheâd been turned off for a few seconds, her eyes widening an odd number of centimeters before she settled back down. She had Seen something. âThatâs exactly what weâll do, dear. I know exactly how to start, too!â
The chicken motioned for Chante to follow, showing her into the nearby room through double doors. This room has a sign over it labeling it as âPirateâs Coveâ. Chicaâs steps had a sort of bounce to them, despite her slight reaction earlier. This room was massive, with the checkerboard tiles differing shades of sand coloring. The walls were painted to reflect the blue sky and the bluer ocean below, and off to their immediate right was a big, ship-shaped stage.
âThis is Foxyâs room!â Chica said, gesturing around. âThe Cove is one of the most popular rooms, but because it has a big arcade in the lower decks of the ship, it canât be rented out.â
