Help with another fanfic plsss....
So I was reading this wangxian fanfic with pinkmoss and golden eyed babies but totally forgot to save. I've been trying to find it again for a few weeks now; essentially going over ao3 pages one by one as I still don't get how to search/filter there, my bad!!
Would you please be kind and help finding it? Many thanks!!!
the untamed bts: wang zhuocheng and ji li sparring, or nie huaisang finally gets a fight scene
There are other translations than ers? I have read ers twice already and yet for some parts I still feel something is reaaaaally missing. I found one wordpress too, but they are still translating. Link my way, maybe?
yeah it’s...very inaccurate in some places & it was hard to read with some translator comments jammed into the novel like an early 2000s fic (especially when they were just...inappropriate). sometimes i’ll go to it for convenience sake but i would really not want anyone introduced to the novel based on their translation and i feel like it’s already done irreparable damage to people’s perception of the novel which, don’t get me wrong, has its own issues, but the way they went about it just did not help
i’ll link the ongoing wordpress translation for people who want to bookmark/follow it because that’s a pretty good one so far. there’s a post here with other translations although they are mostly big sectioned chunks so you might have to hop around a little but i think it’s worth it. (also, for the qinghe-nie translation, the layout might make reading it a little intolerable on desktop but i think google has extensions like OpenDyslexic that should fix the font)
Original English translation is gonna come ....
How to get over WangXian? Has anyone ever escaped truly? Would you kindly share your coping mechanisms?
Help finding a fanfic, please...!!!
So I had read this Wangxian fanfic on A03 a few weeks/months ago, but I can't find it. I did try searching for it, but I can't seem to find it after multiple tries.
Here's a glimpse of what I recall. I can tell a lot more from memory, if anyone has specific questions that could help me narrow the search.
**************************************************************
It's about alpha Lan Wangji / omega Wei Wuxian
Lans and Jiangs are prominent business families, so are the Nies. Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were betrothed since a young age, but they meet only after they become adults, in a formal banquet celebrating the Lan corporations 50th (or 200th) anniversary celebrations.
But unknown to the family, they'd already met in a hotel room and shared heat and Wuxian is now pregnant. But Wangji doesn't know yet.
There's mention of Valentine's Day, Chinese Valentine's day, and three other days down the year.
During the banquet, Wuxian wears this dress.
And Lan Zhan is courting his (pregnant) Wei Ying.
******************************************************
Please, please, please....can someone point me in the right direction to find this gem from AO3 again?

Cultivators with golden core can cultivate to immortality. So why do we hardly see anyone older in mdzs?
Why are all the major sect leaders so young by the end of the story?
If someone can live 100s (or 10,000s) of years, then being all sect leaders being so young - 36 ( Jiang Cheng, Nie Huaisang) or 38 (Lan Xichen), or 15 ( Jin Ling)- doesn't that sound like an anomaly, even in the context of the war as background?
Wait wait do you seriously have a mirror facing the foot of your bed? Aren't you scared that the mirror dimension you is going to crawl out of it in the middle of the night and kill you?
What kind of lives do you people lead?
There are much better things to think & do with ones mirror self than killing, don't you agree?
WWX: what’s worse than heartbreak?

Dragons could totally blow torch the creme brule, just saying!
when people call wangxian a boring ship i want to gentle reach out, cupping their cheeks in my hand, look them straight in the eye and ask if they read the book. did they miss the way that wwx’s presence helped encourage lwj to develop his own passions and opinions outside what he was taught to have? did they miss the way that lwj was the first person who was ever wwx’s equal and challenged him like no one else but still saw wwx as human, as fallible and worthy of protection? did they miss the way that all of their “relationship drama” stemmed from the fact that: a) lwj genuinely acted like he hated wwx in his first life and wwx was never shown any different until it was too late and that wwx could never afford to take the time to work through his own feelings even though they were clearly there bc he was so busy just trying to stay alive and he just wasn’t ready for a relationship and b) the fact that wwx’s closely guarded secrets and insistent pride and confidence that he could handle himself even though he was barely holding on combined with lwj’s moral rigidity and unwillingness to change or adapt meant that they were constantly at odds? did they miss the way that their growth together as love interests and independently (inspired by each other or just by themselves) is some of the most wonderfully written arcs ever, creating dynamic characters who progress in a way that wholly and completely suits them? did they miss the way that even when they were at odds, wwx and lwj still cared enough spend time together and check in on each other? did they miss the way that wwx, who has never been the first preference and has always been left behind alone, marries lwj, who welcomes him into his life and his family full-heartedly and puts him and his happiness above all else? did they miss the way that wwx does the same? did they miss the way they parallel their own parents’ and their relationships and how they have to overcome the legacies/trauma of their parents as well as themselves and they do it because they’re such a good couple? did they miss the way that wwx and lwj genuinely love each other and cherish each other? because that last point alone is more than what half the ships in this fandom canonically have.
The Lord of the Rings was my first hyperfixation, long before I knew what a hyperfixation was. I was a kid when the movies first came out, and I had never heard of Tolkien or Middle-earth, but I thought the trailer looked kind of nifty. My sister, who was visiting home from college and had heard of Middle-earth, insisted that I read The Hobbit before going to see the movie, and handed me a copy with a god-awful picture of Bilbo and Gollum on the cover. Extremely begrudgingly, I began to read, and by the end of the first page I was in love. When I finished The Hobbit, I saw The Fellowship of the Ring in theatres with my family (an extremely rare treat with my parents, and likely orchestrated by my sister). My parents had no idea what was going on, but my sister and I kept nudging each other at every reference to the previous story, and we both cried after the Bridge of Khazad-dum. I made my parents bring me to a bookstore that night, brought home the trilogy, and jumped right into The Two Towers.
This was long before I had regular internet access, so I had no one to share my newfound obsession with except my mother. She didn't understand a word of my babbling, but she took me to bookstores to get The Silmarillion and any other of Tolkien's works (finished or otherwise), and sat and let me rant at her about things she still doesn't understand. I learned how to write in Elf runes and Dwarf runes, convinced my uncle to buy me an Elven brooch, memorized maps and family trees, learned bits and pieces of Quenya and Sindarin, spent an entire summer going through everything on the extended DVD's, and generally screamed into the void about this story that had moved me like nothing else had before.
As the years went by and there was only so much published material to devour, my obsession eventually faded away some, but never disappeared entirely. As a teenager I began a tradition of rereading The Silmarilion, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings every year after my birthday, and then watching the extended cut of the movies in what I call Twelve Hours of Tolkien, sometimes alone, sometimes with friends.
But then Adulting happened, and I didn't have time for full rereads anymore. When I got into audiobooks while travelling for work, I thought maybe I could use that time for Tolkien, but the audiobooks that are out for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are atrocious, and The Silmarillion doesn't seem to have one at all.
This will be the third or fourth year I don't do my reread, but I did have a Twelve Hours of Tolkien sleepover for my birthday. It had been so long since I'd visited Middle-earth, and that beginning sequence where the audience is introduced to the Shire... It felt like coming home. When Bilbo answers the door and says, "Gandalf, my old friend!" I felt like I too was greeting an old friend whom I hadn't seen for many long years, and whom I hadn't realized I'd missed so dearly.

I want to go into more detail on this, because I rewatched with this in mind and GOD do I love both details and costuming.
So the first time we see Wei Wuxian in this undershirt is when he wakes up in Cloud Recesses, right after everyone finds out who he is (and right after “I already knew it was Wei Ying.”)
This is also the first time you see Lan Wangji’s lack of a bottom layer.
Lan Xichen comes in and they discuss what Wei Wuxian had found out in the secret room, and Wei Wuxian quickly dresses so they can check out the forbidden room of the Library Pavillion. His bottom layer, normally either red or black until this point, is still white. Lan Wanji still has only two layers on.
And if you notice, Wei Wuxian’s layers aren’t quite sitting right on him. Both Lan Wangji and Lan Xichen have their robes tight against their chests, right up to their throats, but Wei Wuxian’s got that big white stripe almost screaming for you to look at it in comparison. In closeups you can also tell that it doesn’t sit smoothly against his chest like the costumes normally do in this show.
See that wrinkle? You NEVER see that in any other part of this show. Hell, the only time anyone has a single hair out of place is when Wei Wuxian’s trapped in the dungeon with that giant dog, and that was to show just how badly off he was in that moment. But that shirt don’t fit, bro.
And that’s what he continues to wear through the trip to the Burial Mounds. It’s less obvious later because he tucks it a bit tighter, but he still has that white bottom layer, and Lan Wangji is still missing a layer. Right up until Wei Wuxian uses himself as bait, as shown in the video. They finally change clothes when they’re on the docks on the way to Lotus Pier. Wei Wuxian gets a whole new outfit, and Lan Wangji suddenly has a bottom layer again – but instead of his usual white, it’s blue.
So why bother with this little detail? Why bother putting it in or spending a half hour of my life gathering screenshots to analyze it? Because of this passage (and others) from a bonus chapter of the novel, via Exiled Rebels Scanlations:
When the time came, Lan SiZhui had been waiting for quite a while, standing in the courtyard with Lil’ Apple reined, when Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi finally sauntered out of the house.
He wanted to tell him, Senior Wei, you accidentally wore HanGuang-Jun’s clothes again. But after some thought, he still swallowed the sentence.
After all, Wei WuXian wore the wrong clothes every couple of days. If he reminded Wei WuXian every single time, wouldn’t he die of fatigue?
And every time Senior Wei would wear it anyways because he thought it was too much trouble to change. Feeling that there was no point in reminding him anyways, Lan SiZhui decided he’d much rather pretend he saw nothing.
The novel makes a point of mentioning that Wei Wuxian constantly grabs the wrong underclothes, and that said underclothes are too big for him, but he doesn’t bother changing. And the showrunners paid attention and said, “Well, we may not be able to SAY that they get nekkid together, but we sure can show evidence for it!” And it’s that kind of attention to detail that makes this show so damn fantastic, and so true to the source material despite having to work around externally imposed rules of conduct.
Bonus Lan Wangji:
Since Lan clan has the seemingly obnoxious "only three bowls of food" rule, it's quite possible that they also have some rules restricting changing clothes multiple times/ using multiple sets of clothes in a day. So Wangji was forced to share his undershirt instead of being able to just pick one from the wardrobe!!
I know you've touched on Spiritual Swords before when it comes to being passed on or not, but I can't help my curiosity. We know that Jin Ling has his father's Sword, Suihua, after his passing. Does that imply a weaker Spirit to this Sword, or just that being Jin Zixuan's blood gives him a connection, or even that it means Jin Ling's use of this sword is weaker than how his father did (essentially a handicap?) (1/2)
Hello Anon! Feel free to ask me as many questions as you like on this topic! I sometimes feel like I can’t express myself in terms understandable for everyone, so I am very grateful for every further question you sent me! :D
There is a difference between passing a spiritual Sword and passing a spiritual Sword with an actual spirit.
A spiritual Sword is a term for every Sword of a moderate to high levelled Cultivator. It is, in its base, a magical sword imbued with the power of the Cultivator. The sword and the wielder share a connection, and the Cultivator sends his own energy into the sword when in fight.
A spiritual Sword with an actual spirit is the above plus a living spirit residing permanently in the Sword. These Swords are only and solely wielded by high levelled Cultivators. The Spirits can have their will on their own. They also come with a completely different set of powers compared to every other Sword.
From what I would guess Suihua is a spiritual Sword, so it can get wielded by an other close family member.
Suibian, I think, owns an actual spirit. Thus it will be incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to let Sizhui wield it. It sealed itself the moment it felt the connection to WWX lost, but had not given up on him even though it surely felt his golden core is gone. It still let WWX unsheathe it. It did react to Jiang Cheng, solely because it felt its original owners golden Core, even though - from my experience - Jiang Cheng would not be able to wield it in an actual fight. I don’t think Suibian would let him use his power. Maybe to protect WWX, but not for much else. Did you notice how WWX was reflected in Suibian’s blade everytime he unsheathed it? This is a sign of their still ongoing connection, even if it would cost WWX a lot if he would use Suibian. Which he can. There are scenes where he actually uses it. A spiritual Sword is not only connected to the core, but also to the soul (even though I am not sure of how much sense I still make to you?).
I am not sure about how much the producers of CQL actually knew about real world cultivation, but from the many hidden bits, I suppose a lot. So here’s some scenes which kinda only make sense to Cultivators: Whenever WWX unsheathes Suibian after the golden core removal, what he sees in the blade is not only his reflection, but an energy flowing - or in this case, not flowing. He was able to connect himself to Suibian, but feels like he barely can’t after the removal. He checks for this energy, if it flows, how it flows, even if it’s just a tiny fragment of what it used to be. WWX had proven in many scenes that he is able to see energies others can’t, and this is one of those scenes. Even LWJ can’t see the things WWX can see. Else LWJ would have noticed the missing flow of energy between WWX and Suibian.
I have nooo idea if I managed to write it in an understandable way. If something is leaving question marks all over, feel free to send them to me!
I bet LWJ has a big competence kink. He doesn't fall in love with WWX's pretty smile. He falls in love because WWX fights like he is water, slipping around LWJ's sword strikes like a dancer. He falls because WWX jokes and lazes about but still aces every test. Every time they meet, WWX is always this amazing, annoying competent bastard. It makes LWJ tingle and squirm inside to see WWX hit the bullseye when blindfolded. He may disapprove of WWX new Cultivation, but he's in awe that a man disappeared for three months and came up with a whole new system of cultivation.
After everything is over and they're married. LWJ is in a constant state of inward swooning because his HUSBAND is a great teacher?! Keeps inventing new things to benefit the clan?! Somehow manages to charm a reluctant LQR with his smarts?! Is a great dad to their kid?! Is politically savvy enough that Lans always end up having an edge in conferences?!
Phew, it's too much.
