Queen Victoria’s costumes in Ladies in Waiting

To me, ma’am, you’re every inch a queen.

This is Erik. I entered him into the den of angels customization contest and placed third. In really super excited about that. Erik is a very special gift for my mom. He is her Phantom. I had picked him because i felt his personality suited the subject of the contest. I knew that his character would push me to create something that i had never done before. So here he is, with the couple steps i remembered to take pictures of. For his face up i used mostly normal things: pastel, watercolor, gouache, heavy bodied acrylics, watercolor pencils, msc, and uv cut gloss. For his modification i used a heavy round bit as well as a barrel… And a blowtorch. I SET HIM ON FIRE! And a bucket of water… And my roommate to act as an adult while i was working with fire. Anyway, i showed my mom and she loves him. That’s what matters. I’m stoked that i placed. I have developed a LOT of anxiety and entered to prove to myself that i could do this and i could make something that was beautiful and worthwhile, even if it is created in my unconventional way. I am a modder. I embraced it and turned my anxiety and pain into him. It was cleansing and I’m so glad that even though he is harmed, others could see the beauty that i tried to capture.
