C7 shrugs at his question. “If it doesn’t, I can just kill you, and you’ll be back with your ear. Probably.” She is, of course, entirely serious, and doesn’t actually care what Otonashi thinks of this new arrangement.
So after a few minutes of Otonashi practicing the Two Horn Guard, without warning, she lunges toward him. She’s basically caught in the moment, not really caring to see whether he blocks her or not—though at the end, she does get a small nip of his ear, which pleases her somewhat.
C7 rolls her eyes. Slightly disappointing, but nothing that she didn’t expect. She should be stronger than Otonashi in every way—and is still upset that he was the only survivor of Operation Parachute. So of course, she will show no mercy.
Seeing that she wasn't messing around, proven by the small cut in his ear, he noticed that at this point in time. He had to try also, a sudden sense of adrenaline ran through him.
A sudden face of determination grew on Otonashi's face. Gripping onto the katana's hilt tighter, he waited for her to lunges at him again. Once he noticed her new lunge, the adrenaline inside him grew stronger. He didn't want to die, even if he was brought back again.
Dodging the second lunge, he took a step back then brought the katana to the side of his face. With that, he himself lunged towards her.
What was fueling him was will to live, but maybe, it was to show that he wasn't a lost cost.
