Hello! This is the official Tumblr blog for the A-Spec Hangout Discord server. We plan to record our server lore here and share whatever shenanigans we get up to.

Meet the people running this blog:

Cassian (they/them, ey/em): Main blog is @ace-bookdragon. They are asexual aromantic and are in solid support of the raw bacon nativity abomination.

Avery (they/them): Main blog is @onoval11. Avery is asexual aromantic. They are proud to say that they have over 800 registered hours in the Sims 3, not even counting when they played on their friend’s.

Tessa (she/they): Tessa is asexual aromantic. They’re the server arsonist and emoji maker. They made our server and tumblr icon, which combines the Tessa- Cleo- and Cammojis with the ace and aro flags.

Cloak (they/them): Main blog is @dude-trust-the-cloak. They are asexual and aromantic. Cloak is the server’s resident Goblin Auncle and the artist behind our family tree.

Cam (she/her): Cam is asexual aromantic. She’s the elected server mother and Sleep Hypocrite.

Elan (he/him): Elan is asexual. He cannot find things.

Cleo (she/her): Cleo is asexual aromantic. She’s the leader of the brioche-is-not-bread group and elected server mom (there’s a difference between mother and mom, but nobody knows what it is).

Void (None): Main blog is @voids-lil-void  Void is asexual grey-panromantic. Once, Void swam with a baby lemon shark because nobody Void them it was there.

Ari (she/they): Main blog is @penandquillcafe. She’s asexual aromantic and the original creator of the server. Their friends have dubbed them Switzerland because they're indecisive.

Cat (she/her): Main blog is @friendlyneighborhoodtheatrekid. She’s a demiromantic asexual and is the server doctor (even though she has very little medical experience). 

Aspen (they/them): Main blog is @the-arson-system-01. The are an aromantic aseuxal and has a well known tendency to skip on sleep (something the rest of the server always tells them off for, not that they listen of course!)

Recently the rest of the server and the Australians have gotten into a debate on whether 35 c is comfortable or too hot. This meme was inspired by a conversation Cassian and I (American) and Aspen (Austrailan) had.

About the Family Tree

Hullo there, missed us.. ?

Well, I am here to make a lil update of this messy Family Tree that we have on the server… From the last post about it, you would think “oh well, a normal tree: parents, kids, etc.” And you would both be wrong and right… After all, we adopt kids and/or do mitosis, so we don’t really care about making sense. Making sense…? What…? Where’s the fun in that…? So, I’m on the side of the family that is the most chaotic, people will say that I contributed, I will just say that I am innocent… *Yes I am!*

About the brioche-bread debate

The members of our Discord server have some varying opinions, as any group should. We are usually very civil and respectful when it comes to disagreements, but there is one topic that always gets the best of everyone. It is whether brioche is bread or not.

It all started in mid October when Cléo, our resident French aroace, and Cam started debating. They had only known each other for six days, so they were still very polite (unfortunately those messages were deleted because of the history limit). Cléo argued that brioche could not possibly be bread because it’s sweet and looks nothing like her bread at home. Cam said brioche looks just like bread and that there is no reason for why bread cannot be sweet. Cléo countered, saying American white bread is not real bread because it looks like industrial brioche. Cam argued against Cléo’s exclusivity, saying there is no reason to “gatekeep” bread.

As the server members became more comfortable with each other, and as the family tree was made, our brioche-bread debates got more heated. More people joined in, taking sides and fiercely defending their views. This ongoing, never-ending debate comes up almost every day, sometimes just as a casual reference and sometimes as a three hour-long court session.

During December, some new views were introduced. Here are a few of them.

Raven proposed that all foods can be categorized as bread or as soup. If you can make a sandwich with it, then it’s bread. If you can spill it on the floor, then it’s soup. This prompted debates about the vagueness of the rule.

Aspen and Raven also proposed that all is bread. Aspen added that all is bread, except for brioche, which is in its own special category. More about this later.

Elan proposed that brioche is bread according to its fat content, which is closer to bread than pastry. Avery countered him with a detail about the fat in bread, which left brioche in no category.

Cléo introduced us to a fancy French word, viennoiserie, which she still has not fully explained. It seems to be similar to the English word pastry. Does that make brioche in the same category as croissants? And does being a viennoiserie exclude it from the bread category? All new additions to the debate.

Grace brought up hardtack, the bread with the weight and texture of rocks. They said if hardtack counts as bread, then brioche easily falls into the same category for being so similar to bread.

By January, people were becoming more certain in their views. Admin Avery added some new roles for us, Brioche is a Viennoiserie and Everything is Bread.

This debate may never be settled, but that won’t stop us from perpetually bugging each other about it. Cléo has promised to hit us with baguettes to show what bread feels like, and some Americans have promised to bring lots of American bread on our camping trip just for Cléo.

Today , Damian's boyfriend joined our server. We were then fighting about our family tree. I said that he would be Grace's son in law and my cousin in law despite them not being married. Grace on the other hand said that they wouldn't be until Damian and Lee (the boyfriend) were married. (The first one was made by me and the second was made by Lee)

Most people that read this blog will probably wonder which emoji is wich well , since I made them all Im going to tell you. These are verry important becuase the people who these emojis are of (Me/Tessa, Cleo, and Cam) are called the holy trinity and are the emojis on our flag icon.
