Happy Disability Pride Month! Stay safe!
Reminder that if you see these flags, you’re very likely talking to someone who doesn’t have a certain disability or disorder, but ‘identifies’ as having it
Some who use these flags may have said disability or disorder, but have internalised ableism that make them want it ‘milder’, or face ableist societal pressures that make them want it ‘worse’ - either way beware these flags
BID or BIID as a disorder is valid, however these terms not only are often applied to people without this disorder or associated with concepts outside of the disorder, but they misuse the trans prefix, advocate for ‘transitioning’, use of mobility aids, changing their own neurology, and claim it is ableist to be against that concept, as well as claim that disability pride month is for them because they ‘identify’ as disabled but aren’t
The community of many of these also infantilises or treats disabilities as adorable, see the tags on nosorian’s coining ‘medicalcore’ ‘sickcore’ and so on - links included in text translations
There is a huge amount of these harmful identities
[text translation: transabled, transautsitic (not reclaimed), transBPD, transADHD (not reclaimed), Nosorian (desiring disabilities, mental disorders, etc), Psyric (-desiring- mental disorders)]
[text translation: neurosian (desiring neurological disorders), devebul1mic, dianorex1c (wanting EDs), alternate or ‘new’transabled flag, transdeaf, transblind)
notice how weirdly ‘adorable’ some of these flags are trying to be- they’re talking about taking disability aids away from disabled people with polka dots and pastel colours everywhere
[text translation: wheelchairqior (using a wheelchair you don’t need), Crutchian (using crutches you don’t need), Transmuette (wanting to become mute), Transill, disabledfluid, aeroisabled (‘your atmosphere’ causes whether you want a disability or not, or the disability you want to change)]
[text translation: Caneian (using a cane you don’t need), Transdisoplural (wanting to transition to be disordered plural/multiple), TransDID, TransOSDD-1a, TransOSDD-1b, TransUDD), TransOSDD-3, Medpunk (thinking we should allow people to medically acquire these things), Autistic Presenting (a term describing those who ‘present’ as autistic)]
[text translation: Transseverity (mostly disabled people who want their disabilities to be worse due to systematic ableism, still harmful), TransBIID/TransBID, Transneurogender (those who use the exclusive neurogenders related to their 'desired’ neurodivergencies), Transdpdr (depersonalization derealization disorder), TransPTSD, Trans-schizospec etc)]
tw: mention of the r word, not actually used, the big C)
[text translation: Alt transBPD, TransAVPD, Trans-r worded- (the actual fuck??), Transc*ncer, Transomnispd (wanting all personality disorders), Transtourettes]
[text translation: Mirrorabled (your 'identified’ disability 'mirrors’ those around you), transhypersexual, transdelusional, transNPD, and finally, yet another TransBPD flag]
Stay safe out there - do not harass users of these, just block and avoid at all costs
