JUSTIN AND GWEN CLARKE

Justin Clarke knew he had met his soul mate the moment she stepped into his first grade class. The pretty transfer student from California was smart and creative with a flair for adventure. He became infatuated with the girl- back then known as Gwen Larson - and made sure to let her know of his feelings. One day, Justin declared his love for Gwen on the playground. After a moment of stunned silence, she promptly pushed him on the ground and beat him up; the typical reaction of a first grade girl who is afraid of cooties. The next day, Gwen sat down in the seat across from him at lunch and offered him a cookie. The two then became the very best of friends and remained so until high school. Justin’s crush on Gwen never faded; in fact, he grew more and more in love with her with each passing day. It wasn’t until their junior year of high school that he gathered the courage to ask her to homecoming. Unsurprisingly, Gwen said yes and the rest is history. The two dated for the rest of their high school careers and well into college. After graduation, Gwen became an accountant and Justin got a job as a nurse at Daphne Hospital. Not too long after, the pair got married and eventually had a beautiful baby girl that they named Penelope. When Penelope was ten, Gwen was diagnosed with cancer. Not wanting to spend the rest of her life unhappy, Gwen made sure to keep her husband and daughter as happy as possible. She took care of them and loved them with all of her heart until the day she died.

Justin is now a single dad who throws himself into his work at the hospital in order to provide for his daughter. He avoids most of the social gatherings on Asteria because the socialites are always trying to set him up or date him themselves.

Mayor Frederick Ramsey and Deputy Mayor Giovanni Castello

A country nor an island such as Asteria can live without leadership. Mayor Ramsey was elected Mayor of Asteria when he was just 37 years old. Known for his policies on restoring all of the island to its full potential and trying to squash poverty in Eris has been his main concern. His deputy, Giovanni Castello, is known to be a force of reckoning, using his power and determination to make laws and policies of Mayor Ramsey to succeed. Although the island still has a problem with restoring Eris, many of the citizens believe the two to have had a positive effect and are confident the island will improve for the better.

Kevin and Stacey Hamm

A councilman who has been an ongoing advocate for physical fitness and fighting obesity on the island and in low-income areas such as Eris, Kevin Hamm is one of top local heroes in Asteria. Focused and determined to help the island thrive while still working as a lawyer on civil cases. Stacey, is a housewife who a member of the Asteria Society who focus on preserving the island's culture and helping the youth remember the past is as important as the future.

Nathaniel and Emily Monroe

The Monroes are Asteria's premier family, controlling Monroe Hotel, a worldwide hotel chain which had its start in the town center. Starting off as only a bed and breakfast created by owner and CEO Nathaniel Monroe, it has skyrocketed being praised every year by the Michelin guide. Emily Monroe, runs the hotel's PR sector and has ensured both customers and critics alike that the Monroe Hotels are not only worth more than you paid for, but the service will never be beat by cheap imitators.

Silas and Kara Sangster

Silas Sangster is a well known software engineer for many of the companies located on the island as well as the mainland. He has made countless new computer software for the companies and helping push the world into a more technologic future. An expert in the field of ornithology, Dr. Kara Sangster has spent many years in the lush tropical forests of the amazon as well as doing a book on the finch population on the Galapagos Islands where Darwin himself discovered natural selection. She is currently working on helping to conserve the endangered Hawaiian Honeycreeper.

Jonas and Gema Eckel

Two good for nothing people that brought Nikolai Eckel into the world and raised him up in the shit hole of Asteria. As newly weds, people would have expected the Eckel’s to be happy and ready to start a new life together. However, that wasn’t the case as Jonas was unemployed and Gema worked as a waitress. Both were druggies without one care in the world, much less for their young son, Nikolai. He was a only welfare check, just a tax reduction, nothing else but one more hand to help pay the bills. It was a constant reminder every time Niko walked into their little apartment and saw his parents blazing or preparing to inject substances that weren’t meant for the body into their arms. Enduring his parents’ screaming fights and father’s beatings that seemed like ordinary happenings, Nikolai had kept the family together. But as soon as he left, so did his parents. The pair ran away from their responsibilities, from their child, but Niko didn’t mind not being able to see the people he hated the most. The last thing he wanted to be was a deadbeat nobody.

The problem now, born into a family of no luck, Nikolai was already heading down one inevitably terrible path.

Robert and Guiliana Gibbons

The Investment Banking Firm: Gibbons & Morgan had its original start here on the island. Founded by Maximilian Dillinger Gibbons, the investment bank has gone from being on top to being second to Hyperion Union. Until his death ten years ago the banking firm's CEO was Maximilian Dillinger Gibbons IV, but the reigns have now gone to his son and successor Robert Gibbons. Despite his unconventional methods in the business, he has made the firm as successful as his predecessors. His wife, Guiliana, is a known socialite in the town and outside of the island.

Luca and Rachel Vargas

The Vargas Carpentry & Cabinet Works has been a welcomed addition to Asteria since it was opened by the owners: Luca and Rachel Vargas fifteen years ago. Carefully constructing everything from boats to handcrafted, personalized china cabinets. The family owned carpentry shop has been dedicated to producing high quality works for the town. You can find wood carvings in memory of the gods around town with the Vargas special marking on them.

Viktor and Lily Preston

The Preston Funeral Home has been burying your loved ones ever since the original owner, Malcolm Preston, first opened the business in 1800 when it was realized how troubling it was to have relatives buried off the island. Now in the hands of Viktor, one of Malcolm's living relatives,  and his wife Lily. The two have always been known to have a gentle and caring process in handling those who have passed away. Knowing it is a hard time to say goodbye to those who have been in one's life for a long time, the Prestons dedicate their time and effort in ensuring the process is easy to handle during hard times.
