are you capable of drawong women? like im actually curious.. or is drawing handsome man your speciality?
I gotta be brutally honest, I get rlly intimidated drawing female characters and idk why :') I'm trying to be better about it but yeah this is definitely one of my biggest weaknesses as an artist qwq.
Waaah Iāve been so dead on here but for good reason I swear :ā)
Iāve actually started drawing finished pages for my upcoming gay western/romance webcomic (Working Title: Little Larkspur) and have been g r i n d i n g through chapter one. Itās still gonna be a while until I accumulate enough of a backlog to properly start publishing this on tapas/webtoon etc. but itās been so much fun and I really want to share some of the progress Iāve made so far.
These are the first four pages as of right now (I might still add a few prologue pages down the line but weāll seeeee).
Been really busy with cranking out a bachelors thesis this month š so unfortunately comic development has been close to nonexistent.
Still, Iāve been trying to work out some kinks with my character designs, especially Francis who I struggle drawing the most lol. Might colour the second drawing if I find the time, I love my fools <3
My heart goes out to all of you that have to put up with difficult people throughout this holiday season (hell knows I do lol). On a lighter note, I finally got to sit down and do a proper drawing of my ocs again after being busy/ art blocked for a while and Iām really happy with how this came out :3
Alright! I believe it is high time I properly introduced you to my silly silly guys that Iām currently oh so brainrotted about. I would be delighted to answer any questions about them. Hereās some basics about their story to start out with:
Working story title: Little Larkspur
Synopsis
A sheriff, a bandit and the son of a railroad tycoon end up stranded in the middle of the desert wilderness together after a failed train robbery. Whilst they navigate their way back to civilisation, the three men receive ample opportunity to reflect on their respective life circumstances and come to terms with the fact that they are really unhappy with how their lives are going at the moment. Little Larkspur is a queer romance story set in a pseudo-American Wild West setting and focuses on the relationships that emerge between its three main characters Elias, Francis and Daniel:
Character descriptions below:
Elias Barnett (he/him, ~30y.o, pathetic repressed gay)
Elias is the sheriff of a small desert town named Catala. He received this job after partaking in a lavender marriage with the mayorās daughter: Ethel. At the beginning of the story, Elias lives a quite comfortable life, enjoying the respect that comes with being town sheriff, however he starts to become increasingly worried once rumours about his wifeās secret affair start circulating.
Elias is a very moody and reserved guy, who has kind of resigned himself to be an introverted loner. He loves his best friend, Ethel, but struggles to form connections with anybody else in town. Other than a good cigarette, Elias really enjoys all kinds of literature, especially really trashy romance novels.
Francis Wright (he/him, ~25y.o, questioning)
Francis is the 8th son of the head of the Wright railroad emporium and therefore not a very important company asset. Nevertheless, Francis has always tried to remain in his fatherās good graces and has therefore had little opportunity to figure out himself and his own interests growing up. As a result, Francis often comes across as very bratty, naive and insecure, even though he is a kind soul overall. Francis also repeatedly claims that heās not an arts guy, even though his favourite past time is to criticise modern art and fiction.
Daniel [last name unknown] (he/him, ~25y.o, questioning)
Daniel is an outlaw who travels the desert, willing to take on any job that pays decently enough. He has joined several bandit groups over the past years but never sticks around long enough to make any real connections. Still, Daniel is highly skilled and charismatic and would get along well with most people, if he allowed himself to do so. Danielās background before becoming an outlaw remains a mystery, although he is strangely versed in the fields of botany and herbology.
Main story inspirations
My main influences for this storyās themes/aesthetics stem from my love of arthouse cinema and old western movies. Some standout pieces of media include: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, My Darling Clementine, Perfect Days and The Blue Trail. Other inspirations include some of my favourite webcomics: Charity Case and Zarco.
Plans for this story
Little Larkspur is going to be made into a traditional page-style webcomic! Iām currently deep into pre-production and 3 of the 7 chapters are scripted, so it is still going to be a while until I can start uploading finished pages. Nevertheless, I hope youāll stick around until the comic kicks off properly.
Bro I genuinely don't have time to keep sidelining my own projects for stupid dumb fake Minecraft yaoi ššš what is this, what has this cursed fandom done to me. I don't understand how this shi has implanted itself into my brain so badly h e l p m e.
