I would be raising the dead to help the local villages by taking over the labor tasks they dont wanna do. You provide your dead, and in exchange my skeletons will clean your houses and work the fields for you. Thereby ingratiating myself with the local towns and thus they will shield me from any asshole adventurers trying to stop me from my experiments.

Some sequences of your DNA are way more complex and autonomous than the average persin thinks, there are parts of your DNA that can be cut out and insterted somewhere else in your genome and it's possibly of a viral origin - yes, it does that entirely on its own. Some genes have parts that get parts of it "cut out" with processing so they resulting protein differs, meaning even two similar sequences might be expressed differently in different cells/organisms. And since only non-compacted, free DNA can be "read" for protein production, unused parts are packaged away: if you have two X chromosomes that means parts of both X chromosomes will get inactivated while others function in tandem, this is how you get Calico cats and some forms of immune disorders via forming patterns by building off two separate chromosomes. If you look up transposons you'll learn that the human genome is not as stationary as you'd think and DNA really is fascinating and just weird.
