Well shit, Henry Jenkins, out here in 1997 dropping truth bombs
Oh hey I need this for a research paper I'm writing, thank you!
i mean he had been out here since 1988 dropping such bombs:
"'fandom' is a vehicle of marginalized subcultural groups (women, the young, gays, etc.) to pry open space for their cultural concerns within dominant representations; it is a way of appropriating media texts and rereading them in a way that serves different interests, a way of transforming mass culture into a popular culture"
Jenkins, Henry. “Star Trek Rerun, Reread, Rewritten: Fan Writing as Textual Poaching.” Critical Studies in Mass Communication 5, no. 2 (1988): 85–107. https://doi.org/10.1080/15295038809366691.
there are even some earlier works in fan studies but that’s what i have ready to hand.
these undercover costumes are mission critical to the hunt
Sorry to people who want Dean to be thee John parallel so sooo bad but the truth is that they are all John parallels in specific ways (and that isn't the end of the world). That said, when it specifically comes to "not stepping up" as some like to call it—otherwise known as abandoning your family/leaving other people in charge of your kids so you can go be by yourself all alone/ not answering the phone to let the people who love you know that you are safe, the person mirroring John quite closely is Cas.
That has never been Dean and it never will be. Cas actually slots into John's role in this sense, asking Dean to be his stand in and care for the children that Cas feels responsible for. This includes both Claire and Jack.
In this sense, Cas perpetuates the cycle in Dean's life where he is held responsible for other people's children. Dean is good with kids and loves them, and he slots himself into this role willingly (only after a certain point when it comes to Jack), but he was never obligated to parent Cas's kids. Cas was the one with the obligations, and he left the bulk of the child-rearing to Dean.
What is Quinn Hughes nickname?

To give more context: The reviewer was Jean Lorrain, who also was gay. Both showed up to the duel and both missed on purpose.

episodes that i think every tv show should have:
timeloop
whodunit
musical
beach trip
random genre change (especially if it's to a noir detective thing)
one where they get randomly meta and fourth wall breaky but then never acknowledge it again
one where something happened but we as the audience don't actually get to see how it happened and only see it through the unreliable narrated flashbacks as recollected by the characters

“deserves to win” is such a silly concept. you know who deserves to win? MY team. why? because I love them. next question
it gets worse.
I can behave normally around books
I can be trusted in bookstores and libraries and you should take me to those locations
