i love this guy
weâre really at that point in the year where no one cares about anything huh
My psych professor mentioned swaddling in lecture so I emailed him a picture of me being swaddled in my dorm room and asked if I could get extra credit because it was really hot in there and I got really sweaty and he was like âfabulous, sureâ
Iâm going to miss the Honors Advisor from my university.
This is definitely my favorite email iâve recieved from a professor, with the subject line âback at itâ.
one of my all-time favorite emails
Your dialogue is stiff because everyone is being too honest
Great dialogue can come from radical emotional honesty. But in most real conversations, people
dodge questions
answer indirectly
lie (badly)
change the subject
crack jokes to avoid serious answers
lie (convincingly)
say half of what they mean
tell the truth but get so anxious/angry/defensive others now think they're lying
If your dialogue feels unnatural, it might be because everyone is saying exactly what they think, or articulating their thoughts too well. Try letting characters hide things instead.
Subtext is where tension lives.
more so,
people donât always speak in full sentences,
slang can change depending on age range, demographic, etc. &
donât be scared of vocal pauses (uhm, uh, err)
Tumblr isn't social media, it's a habit. Like smoking. We're all gathering by the dumpster in the cold, reblogging posts.

During one semester of PE in high school I got put in a section called Team Sports. This was significantly better than a regular unit because the athletic kids were able to play and I largely got to sit and watch.
Months were devoted to what they called Pickle Ball but Iâve since learned was basically ping pong with larger than average paddles. The paddles had been through the absolute wringer, all padding had been rubbed and torn off by a relentless stream of bored adolescents like myself.
This presented me with a unique opportunity. I had a pencil, nominally used to keep score. I had a blank wooden panel. And I had large stretches of time sitting on the sidelines.
Every day Iâd pick a blank paddle. Iâd doodle little animals, bizarre monstrosities, and a bunch that were just a huge eye in the middle with the words âBig Brother is Watchingâ. What can I say; I was reading 1984 at the time.
When we finally finished with the paddles and moved on to badminton I completely forgot my dozens of illustrations.
It wasnât until several years later that it got brought up again. I was hanging out with a friend and their younger sibling. We were listening to them lament their high school experience of the day. âBut I won the Pegasus paddle, so that was cool.â
âWait- what?â
âYeah, most of them are just Big Brother, so theyâre not exciting, but thereâs only one Pegasus so we fight over it. Last week I had an elephant I really liked though.â
âYou guys fight over the paddles with art on themâŚ?â
âYeah!â
My friend turned to me and asked, âDidnât you make all those drawings?â
Their sibling lit up, âYou made them?!â
I sat in silence as the complexity of the world and the waves we leave behind as we move through it washed over me. I contemplated how intertwined I was with the rest of existence to create such a beautiful moment.
I had made art on a whim out of boredom and it had an effect on someone elseâs day, someone who through random happenstance years later was telling me about it all unknowing.
Their sibling was delighted when I drew them another pegasus on the spot and announced that theyâd be the talk of PE now that theyâd uncovered the mystery artist.
A Waymo vehicle delivered two 15-year-olds, who were drinking alcohol and shooting small water beads out of the car, straight to police.
I'm sure it's totally fine and normal and great that the taxi spies on you and will just deliver you directly to the police :)
This definitely can't be something that would be used in an abusive or arbitrary way :)
Law enforcement for sure wouldn't abuse something like this :)
This was predicted in 2015
I got into the passenger seat. There wasn't a driver seat. But after two turns, something felt wrong: the self-driving Taxy was heading the
just off the top of my head, this has been a common scifi trope since at least the 90s. pretty easy to predict
I mean, in some very interesting Technically Correct ways, they didn't actually die? Now, they're very much no longer alive. But the forces involved are such that they didn't get any of the usual cellular processes of death, they simply went from biology to physics in less time than it takes a signal to travel down your optic nerve.
if you go from biology to physics without dying first you donât go to heaven the uber driver went over this already
I cannot believe having a Nature episode on in the background while I worked today would solve the mystery of which of my neighbors stuffed 6 inches of baguette firmly under my wiper blades two years ago.
*turns my attention inwards* mmmmm. no *turns my attention back outwards* oh god

Squidward clocking out of the Krusty Krab and heading to the nearest gay after hours eventÂ
Come on, now, op. We all know squidward doesnât go to the club.
Heâs one of those âIâm not like other gaysâ gays who goes home to a bottle of wine and his obscure 50s vaudeville records, and then mopes because he can never find a boyfriend.
I love this website so much
