I do consider Wolverine's interactions with Jean and Scott in the first X-Men movie to be sort of an inverse unicorn hunter scenario. sometimes the unicorn hunts you. aggressively.
the thing is. Logan finally makes one (1) pass at Scott that's so straightforward even Scott can't write it off as homoerotic bickering over Jean, and it sends him into a tailspin. he doesn't even answer he just leaves the room. gracelessly. listen it's 2001 and like, okay, obviously Professor X is gay, Scott knows that, he's fine with it but like. jesus christ. he has enough problems with the whole mutant thing; Scott Summers has not been exploring the lush garden of latent bisexuality. plus he's like SO coupled up with Jean so it doesn't even matter, right? it doesn't even matter and he never had to think about this again, except he does and he's dating a telepath (FUCK) and she Knows something is up and he can't brush it off forever so he tries (fails) to casually bring it up. haha hey Jean you know I always thought Logan had a bit of a crush on you, but I think he tried coming onto me the other day, can you believe it? ("I think he tried coming onto me" here means "he offered to suck my dick with all the subtlety you'd expect from a man who's very popular in truck stop bathrooms," btw.) and Jean Grey, the Dark Phujoshi herself, cannot hide that this is huge for her. this solves so many of her problems. she's salivating and Scott can see it and she's realizing too late oh no Scott was Not into it like that, abort mission hard. except he saw how excited she was for a split second before she got a lid on it, so he knows, and she knows he knows, and he know she knows he knows. and now Scott can't Stop thinking about it, and the more he tries to not think about it the more he does, vicious cycle, and he keeps having these dreams about. well. what if. what if I did let him suck me off a little. which Jean knows about, obviously, because she's a telepath (FUCK). so she knows. and he knows she knows. and she must know that he knows she knows. but neither of them are saying anything about it, just sweating it out while Logan continues to slut around the school in a white tank top pretending he's not playing six dimensional mind game chess to land the plane on this threesome.
im gonna shit
The prophet… he tried to warn us. He told us it was too much power, and yet we all laughed. We made a joke of him.
Moreos Guy, if you’re out there, I would like to personally apologize for not heeding your warning to us.
Can’t fathom how I’ve been on this site so goddamn long that there’s a whole new generation of people on here that don’t know who Moreos Guy was.

The “Big Bang” turns 75, thanks to its greatest opponent
Happy 75th birthday to the name "Big Bang," given to the theory by Fred Hoyle: a steady-state adherent until the day he died.
To Fred Hoyle, the Big Bang was nothing more than a creationist myth. 75 years later, it's cemented as the beginning of our Universe.
Gamma Ray Bursts from the Unknown - August 27th, 1995.
"Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs) pose one of the greatest mysteries of modern astronomy. About once a day, the gamma-ray sky lights up with a spectacular explosion. No one knows what causes these explosions or even how far away they are. The above map represents the entire sky in coordinates centered on our galaxy, the Milky Way. It shows the positions of over 800 of these mysterious bursts of energy, detected by the BATSE instrument onboard NASA'S Compton Gamma Ray Observatory. Before BATSE, most astronomers thought that most GRBs occurred in the disk of our galaxy, but the above sky map shows little sign of this. The distance scale of GRBs was the topic of a historic debate in April of 1995. The positions in the map above are currently being studied in great detail in an effort to uncover a clue about the nature of GRBs."
Jocelyn Bell Burnell was born on July 15, 1943. An astrophysicist from Northern Ireland who, as a postgraduate student, discovered the first radio pulsars in 1967. Though she was not one of the prize's recipients, in 1977, Bell Burnell commented, "I believe it would demean Nobel Prizes if they were awarded to research students, except in very exceptional cases, and I do not believe this is one of them." In 2018, she was awarded the Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics. She decided to use the $3 million prize money to establish the Bell Burnell Graduate Scholarship Fund to help female, minority, and refugee students to become physics researchers. The fund is administered by the Institute of Physics.
Astronomers puzzle over dwarf planet ring system • The Register
Structure appears to be so far out, the Roche limit may need revising
A ring system has been spotted around dwarf planet Quaoar at a distance astronomers didn’t believe was possible, defying astronomical theories on how these structures form.
Quaoar lies in the Kuiper belt beyond Neptune. The icy rock is 1,121 kilometers (697 miles) wide, about half the diameter of Pluto. Quaoar is a distant object with interesting properties, including signs it may harbor ice-spewing volcanoes and a ring system.
Debris compressed into rings orbiting planets are found around the gas giants Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune, and dwarf planets Chariklo and Haumea. All the ring systems lie relatively close to their host planets within a distance known as the Roche limit.
The Roche limit states that ring systems can only form within a distance where the tidal forces from a larger body are more powerful than a smaller object’s own gravitational forces. In short, debris captured inside a planet’s Roche limit will be ripped apart and compressed into a ring system. Any material outside this distance, however, will more likely stick together under gravity and form a moon instead.
Quaoar, however, breaks this rule. Its ring system is intact at orbits at a distance over seven times the dwarf planet’s radius. Saturn’s ring system is located at a distance only three times its radius, for comparison. Now astronomers are puzzled over how such a ring system can survive so far from its parent body. …
Comparing the rotations of objects in the Solar System. Just look at them lol.✨🪐
To everyone that's confused, the planet Venus rotates very very slowly, with a single revolution taking about 243 Earth days, and Mercury rotates slowly, but not as slow as Venus.

Here's a reminder to stop shortening the James Webb Space Telescope's name to "James Webb" and instead use "JWST".
"A lot of us would appreciate it if people didn't refer to the JWST as just "James Webb". He does not deserve to have his name associated with the praise the telescope receives. He didn't do these things. What he did do was awful. I only wanna hear sentences in which "James Webb" is the subject when they're about what he did. Otherwise it erases everything that we fight to bring awareness to. All we see when people do this is praise for a man who brought so much pain to the community. It feels like people are ignoring the fight to rename it and it legitimises NASA's name choice and justifies their horrible treatment of those who spoke up. So please consider using the full name, JWST or other alternative names that have been suggested."

Something I want to add: A lot of us would appreciate it if people didn't refer to the JWST as just "James Webb". He does not deserve to ha
The two stars in the Wolf-Rayet 140 binary system produce shells of dust every eight years, as seen in this JWST image.
“Each ring was created when the stars came close together and their stellar winds collided, compressing the gas and forming dust.”

Black hole physicists annoy me so much. They could literally say anything about what happens in a black hole and there is no good way of proving otherwise. They literally just play around with maths and make stuff up. "if you go through the ring singularity, you might come out elsewhere" "where?" "idk" like get a real job Paul
Black hole physicists be like "this diagram should simplify things"
