my guilty pleasure is gracerocky experiencing cabin fever about 50% into their journey to erid and getting into some nasty argument that they have to take space to recover from. except their codependency is in full effect to the point that grace is miserably trying to occupy himself while excruciatingly aware of just how empty the room feels without rocky tinkering behind him <- and annoyed at himself for noticing this. the knowledge that rocky can still fully perceive him just pisses him off somehow. eventually the silent RSD catastrophizing gets too much for him and he has to go attempt to salvage things. which to his credit he doesnt even fumble that bad

rocky cant "get away" from grace in the same way that grace can get away from him and because eridians are built to be such good multitaskers he cant even adequately distract himself. so he is just. stewing. while doing the engineering equivalent of angrily sharpening a blade, or disassembling & reassembling a gun. grace banging shit/generally being loud in his anger (<- unconscious desire to "get back" at rocky manifesting) and rocky is like I'm going to sabotage his oxygen

for me the appeal of gracerocky isnt that they handle each other perfectly on the first try but that they bridge those gaps through trial and error. ily grocky domestic fluff but i think you can afford to get way more messy with it and that doesnt take away from the love. Like they love each other so bad. how are they gonna fuck up about it. and how will they inevitably salvage it anyway.
