i just started chapter 10 of Asymptote but I read the opening and had to make this.

"There was no attack, no further movement— he was just standing there, waiting and watching. Within a few cycles, Soundwave had no less than forty-five separate prompts alerting him of the other mech’s presence, from various scouts and what few automated systems he did have installed outside of the city perimeter. 

Evidently, the Predacon had just… walked here, without making any attempt at stealth, from literal miles away. Soundwave found this appropriately threatening. 

‘Eh. He’s not all that tough, you know— just big. No maneuverability. I could take him, again, even without your help.’ Laserbeak snorts. ‘Let’s go chat.’ 

‘As far as I know, neither of us have the appropriate equipment for a fire-fight, so to speak, so I’d manage your expectations.’ Soundwave sends back."

SNEAK PEEK: “He couldn’t stop editing it. Soundwave never struggled with details, like this, never delayed a project. This was of utmost importance: it had to be sent, as quickly as possible. His city was depending on him, and he was… stalling. 

         Graphs were purportedly infinite. Functions moved on forever, ad infinitum, they were infallible and stable and never faltered. Soundwave was faltering. The crest-pattern of his processor was unraveling, new and old data points lost to time… inconclusive details blinking on-and-off like they were priority-transmission scarlet in his peripherals. 

         It was a radio transmission, of all things, it wasn’t even COMPLICATED!”

SNEAK PEEK: " Command staff was now considering the running theory that Airachnid might be withholding their information from Megatron in an attempt to stop him from stealing her prey. Starscream’s point about ‘webs’ of selfishness and ego was… succinct. 

‘FOOL! She acts as if she could return to try again, and achieve different results! She will NEVER succeed! LASERBEAK: SUPERIOR!’ A proud shriek down the bond. ‘I will OBLITERATE anyone who dares to try to TAKE anything that is MINE! SOUNDWAVE: MINE! KNOCK OUT: MINE! STARSCREAM: MINE! VEHICONS: MINE! NEW CYBERTRON: OURS!’ 

Soundwave sends his amusement down the line, as ‘mine’ was yet another System concept that didn’t quite translate very well into language."

Chapter Sneak-Peek:

" Steve shuffled, awkwardly, jolting Knock Out’s servo out of the way while the doctor was actively attempting to mend his arm. 

“Well. Kevin always said it was dumb, back when he was still my boss, because I’m a car, but, uh. Could I… join the Armada? I’m a big fan.” 

Starscream seemed genuinely stunned. He opens his mouth as if to respond, but then looks over at Soundwave and shrugs, clearly changing his mind about it.  “I… don’t see why not. How about this— you get yourself in the air, even just once, and I’ll inaugurate you on the spot. If Optimus Prime’s big aft can manage to fly, I don’t see how you couldn’t manage it.” Starscream responds."

CHAPTER SNEAK PEEK:

 Soundwave and Kevin stare at the monitors in the surveillance room, stunned.

          “... oh, scrap.” Kevin mutters, before flinching. “Sorry, sir! That’s just… not good. Oh boy.” 

          He looks down at his clipboard and flips through it hurriedly, before finally finding a blank page to take notes on. 

          “We will — adjust our strategy — accordingly.” Soundwave tapped the screen, dismissing the message. 

          ‘IF YOU CAN READ THIS, WE WILL FIND YOU. SOON . THIS AIRSPACE BELONGS TO THE DECEPTICONS, AND TRAITORS ARE NOT FORGIVEN.’ 

          Kevin taps his clipboard, anxiously. 

          “What… exactly, does that mean?” 

          “Increased scouting around — Luna Two.  I want — to know — when he’s coming — before he sees — us.” Soundwave hesitates. “When he finds — the city — I will bridge out to — meet him. Diplomacy — will be attempted.” 

          Kevin shakes his helm, slowly. 

          “I don’t think that… diplomacy… will work, sir. I think that’s the point of this message.”

‘Let Starscream go… he just wants to set up more assassination attempts.’

‘That’s WHY I’m spying on him!’ Laserbeak responds, irritably. 

‘No,’ Soundwave sends back. ‘The traps are fine. I just don’t want any real surprises. Give the poor mech some space— he finds it undignified, to have you spying on him.’ 

Soundwave didn’t really understand why Starscream found it so disturbing. Soundwave’s had Laserbeak spying on him (inside his processor, even!) for just about every second of the past five million years. Additionally, he can actually comprehend all the judgmental things she has to say whenever he behaves in a manner that she deems ‘cringe-worthy.’

Chapter Sneak-Peek:

“You know, Starscream… you’re definitely smart enough to read basic social cues.” Knock Out transforms back into his root mode, and turns away from the other mech. “When someone leaves a room and drives away from you at a hundred miles an hour, it usually means they want you to frag off.” 

“You’re hurting, Knock Out. I’m honestly sorry, that he’s gone. I also regret that I have to be the person who has to say that we still need you, that we can’t give you the time you deserve to handle this. I… understand how you feel.”

The real reason Knock Out had a millitary grade turret in the medical bay in my fic Asymptote... is that he kept putting really expensive supplies that were deemed non-essential on the company card. Pissing EVERYBODY off because he's handing out frame realignments to literally any Vehicon who asks. In fact he may actually be asking the Vehicons in advance if they want anything done.

YEAHHHHHH SECOND UPDATE IN TWO DAYS??? WE STAY HYPE!

Chapter sneak peek:

Starscream takes a little step back, servos raised, and Knock Out responds by jamming the syringe into his neck. The bot falls over with a concerningly loud crash, forced into deep stasis, no more than five seconds later. 

“What happened to— convincing him — to — come with — us?” Soundwave asks, incredulous. 

“... would’ve taken too long. Anyways, I spent all afternoon ‘making' my argument for New Cybertron!” Knock Out holds up the syringe, jauntily. It has the word ‘persuasion’ scrawled on it in permanent marker. 

‘We are not calling the new planet that!’ Laserbeak sends down the bond, along with a set of coordinates to bridge out a few of the remaining stragglers.

  “Sorry, WHAT did you just say?” Starscream snorts, in disbelief. “You said you used metabolite isolation? On what? The protoforms ?” 

           Shockwave turned to Starscream. 

           “Perhaps you should let those more equipped to discuss this subject do the talking, Starscream. It would be the logical course of action— I do not have the time available to dedicate to ‘dumbing-down’ my language.” 

           “Who do you think you’re FOOLING? You’ve been the Nemesis’s science officer for less than a month — did you think no one was doing the job before you? I know what I’m talking about!” Starscream hisses, furiously. “Protoforms are not metabolites! You can’t throw around the words ‘metabolite isolation’ whenever you’re extracting ANYTHING! ‘Oh yeah… just crammed a pipette in my glass of Engex…whew, boy, I sure did isolate that metabolite!’"
