We pack everything into a woven straw tote and shake out a classic checkered blanket over the patch of warm grass we claimed for the afternoon. There is a satisfying thud as the cork is popped from the bottle, and within minutes, heavy condensation is dripping down our glasses of ice-cold Pinot Grigio. Instead of using a knife, we tear the prosciutto by hand and break the crusty sourdough loaf into pieces. As we talk, the sky slowly shifts into a dusty, bruised peach color, and we find ourselves laughing until our stomachs hurt.
