Weâll be streaming from the Jamboree starting at 5:15PMÂ PDT on our Kingdoms of Heckfire Twitch account.Â
Tune in at twitch.tv/playheckfire
Game Jamboree
A few more pics from our Jamboree!Â
The Game Jamboree's in full swing! Check out that crowd! Mikey, Steve and the devs are proving excellent ambassadors to the world of Collateral Hammage. Your intrepid reporter, on the other hand, lost their match with a total of 6 points to 22.
Presenting your ATA Game Jam 2017 contestants!
After three days of flexing our creative/coding/blogging muscles â the final products are HERE. Presenting our Teams!
Team #1 â Goblin Jam Game: Party in my Tavern
Party in My Tavern is equal parts fun, simple and addictive. Itâs a bit like Mario Party except all you need to bring is your mobile device and a bunch of friends. These competitive mini-games will only require the simplest controls, but they sure will bring loads of drunken fun!
Team #2 â 2 Much Awesome Game: Battle Boozers
Beer pong + Clash Royale = Battle Boozers. Attempt to take down your enemyâs villagers in a hectic, local, competitive multiplayer experience! Every time your villages get hit you must drink. The more you drink, the less control you have. Outlast your opponent to be the drinking champion. Youâll never know what this crazy world will throw at you!
Team #3 â Heckfighters Game: Heckfighter Inspired by the early days of Project Kraken, when Tapapalooza (incemental game where you tap for resources) became a thing. Heckfighter takes a smashing screen to a new level. Players enter Olgaâs betting ring where two foes are randomly selected to fight. Those waiting on the sidelines place their bets on who will win (running commentary obviously exists) and the victor gets a cut of the betting pool. This is basically a tap-off game where you place your salty bets fast and furiously.Â
Team #4 â Octo-Rocks Game: Collateral Hammage
Octo-Rocks drew their inspiration from the elementary school yard game, red Rover. Collateral Hammage is all about battles over ham! Two teams made up of troops, villagers, spearmen and dragons meet in the middle to fight over hams in re-enactment of the exploits of the legendary hero, Hocklin. The strongest team wins their victory over a gory battle!
Team #5 â Goblettes Game: Gobblinâ Goblins
Dragon Snack Attack is inspired by the Goblettesâ shared characteristics. What state are they always in? Hunger. What do they really like? Snacks. What shouldnât they touch, typically? Butts. So they thought, hey, what about a game incorporating all three and some historically accurate dragons? Absolutely.
Team #5 â Salty Hams Game: Ham It Up!
Ham It Up! Â is a Real Time Online Competitive Dragon Feeding Battle Game (RTOCDFBG for short). Players must quickly decide if what comes up on the screen is edible or not, dragging it to their dragon to increase its strength or tossing it to an enemy dragon to hinder its progress. Timeâs limited so act fast!
Booth under construction
Can you update the server so butts don't show up all the time??
Victor Hyde, Software Engineer on Team Goblettes, no other significant achievements
Appendix to Goblinterview with Tiffany Tang. Sheâs really good at creating our assets.

The Goblinterview Series: Artist Extraordinaire Tiffany Tsang
Tiff decided to make up her own questions and also draw her answers out. Not typically how interviews go but Iâll let this one slide because she drew me doing a 200lb one-handed military press at 0 effort, so.
End of Day 3 - Interview with Jodie!
Hereâs Jodieâs battle station! Yes, those are goblin heads. Why are they there? Letâs just say Olga doesnât like Goblins. Hereâs the interview:
Q -Â What did you initially hope to achieve?
A -Â To have a really good time, and also, dragons.
Q - What did you have to leave out?
A - A whole ton of FX â wanted to go bananas⊠I should make a banana effect
Q - Why did you focus on this feature?
A - I wanted to learn something new and I had some experience with FX in the past. I wanted to learn Sprite Kit and see how I could help out.
Weâre excited to see you all shortly!Â
âYeeeeeeees, I have working outlines!â âIvyÂ
Check out flashy splash screen! So. Cute.
The 1 PM deadline draws ever closer at the rate of one minute per minute as our devs furiously clack-clack-clack away. Actually tho, Brianâs got a sweet super tacticle keyboard from like, the 90s. You may or may not see in a later interview.
One Interview wasnât enough... Hereâs our Dev interview with Sae Young!
Sae Young is apparently a floating cup of coffee. We donât see anything wrong with that. Like all of team 2MAâs interviews, this was short and to the point.
Q -Â What feature/function are you making right now?
A - Implementing happy hour feature and other multipliers
Q - What problem are you solving?
A - Making the happy hour actually work
Join us at 4pm to get drunk... on fun!
Octo-ROCKS - Down to the wire
Weâre coming up on the deadline for the Game Jam â all games should be playable by 1pm PDT, which is in about an hour and a half. The team is busy working to connect all the parts everyone has worked on to make a unified whole. Getting all those moving parts to work together is harder than it looks!
Mikey was right about challenge â this is likely the most ambitious project in the Jam. Thereâs been a ton of hours and hard work poured into this, and basically no sleep, and we canât wait to show you all the final result!
Artist Interview with Tyler!
This is Tyler. Heâs our top wizard when it comes to all things graphical. Heâs also super thorough when it comes to interviews:
Q -Â What approach are you taking to this design based on the kind of game weâre making?
A - None of your business
Q - What programs/techniques do you prefer to use and why?
A - No⊠this interview is over.
Whelp.. That was fun!
Getting Salty!
The clock is ticking and the Salty Hams team is hard at work on having a finished game in preparation for the Game Jamboree. The team has a late night, but luckily thereâs an endless supply of coffee at the offices here.
Come 4PM weâll be demoing the game to all of the Game Jamboree attendees. If youâre in the Vancouver area and planning to stop by the Game Jamboree come say hi! If youâre not, fear not as weâll be sharing a look at the finished game here as well!
Salty already has his eyes on the trophy!
Goblettes burning dat midnight oil to get a playable game by tomorrow. The sweet taste of victory is so close, we can almost touch it (**spoiler alert** quite unlike the butts that we can't touch on the game).
