Dorian's eyes widened. She seemed to have an effect on him that made his heart skip and his words had a tendency to stumble over one another.

"T-thank you. Um. a lot." he said, still shell-shocked. "D'you... want to um- build a snowman?" he gestured to the copious amounts of snow outside.

Mega-crush. He daydreams about her all the time. He’s hyper-aware of her whenever she’s around. She’s one of the first things that he thinks of when he wakes up, and the last thing he thinks of when he goes to sleep. She makes him smile and laugh and feel brave enough to fight a dragon. Dori is of course terrified that Maddie won’t want him. He wants more than anything to be brave enough and smart enough to keep up with her, to feel like she needs him too. He accepts all of her oddities, but irrationally fears that she won’t do the same. What if he opens up to her, and she doesn’t like what she sees there? No, it is better to be quiet, to stay in the shadows, but to make sure that she knows that he will always be here for her, should she ever need him.

"Possibly, but… first date and all, I want to look… special." She explained with a little shrug. Trying to be calm about it when reality was actually setting in and her stomach was all a flutter with bread-and-butter-flies. She was actually, properly nervous. She was usually off in her own little world, what was she suppose to do with an actual date? She didn’t pay attention to stuff like that!

Then again, she wouldn’t have her first date be with anyone else. Dorian was sweet and he was definitely worth any trouble she went to.

She noted the color. “Okay, thank you.” She couldn’t help a soft giggle, she knew the perfect dress to wear in that case. She had one that precise color. It was one of her favorites too. It would all work out.

A thrill went through him. She wanted to look special... for him. Or maybe just for her first date ever. But either way, he'd take it. And he'd do his best to make it a happy one, one that she could remember.

Truth be told, he hadn't been on many dates himself. Thatch had occasionally convinced him to ask girls out so that he could have a double, and he'd gone to most of the dances, simply because it was expected of him.

But he'd never really gone out with someone he liked before. Nor anyone as interesting or beautiful or intelligent as Maddison. In fact... he didn't think that there was any girl in the entire world who could compare to Maddison.

Maddie was suddenly regretting all the times she’d overlooked Dorian. She noticed him of course, he was a friend. Had been for a while. But just a friend, coworker. No more than Thatcher. She hadn’t realized how he looked at her until now. Had he always looked at her like that? How had she not noticed? She must truly have been off in her own little world not to notice that twinkle in his eyes. It made her feel all…. fuzzy. And warm, like a cup of tea on a cold winters day.

She nodded. “Shouldn’t take too long but I’ve got to find something to wear and all that.” She laughed softly, suddenly mentally going over her entire wardrobe and in the process realizing she didn’t know Dorian’s favorite color. “Dori… What’s your favorite color?” She asked, leaning against the counter. Hers was blue, she always wore something that bright cerlean blue that matched her eyes.

The young woman hardly paid attention to things like crushes and love and dating… sure she’d day dreamed of it sometimes but never in the real world had she really considered the men around her to be more than friends. She just assumed she’d know one day. Not that she’d over looked someone she was now realizing was actually quite sweet and completely worth all the time she’d never given him. Now as the time to change that.

Dorian had this little fuzzing in his ear that's intensity directly related to how brightly Maddison was smiling at him. Would they really go on a date? What would they do? He really needed to consult Thatcher about this.

"I'm sure you'll look great in whatever you're wearing," he said in his quiet voice.

"And um..." his favorite color? Currently? Anything Maddi was wearing. No joke. But he couldn't tell her that. "My favorite color is the color of Raspberry jam. Like this!" he said, snatching a nearby jar and holding it up for inspection.

Maddie giggled, he was so cute. She’d never really noticed before, often times off in her own world or some such thing. Too many times she’d not realized him… now she was. Like seeing him through a new set of eyes that wanted to appreciate him for well, being himself. Dorian was always so kind to her. How could she not like him?

"Sure." She nodded, smiling quite openly. She pause though and grinned before hugging him gently. "Calm down, it’s just me Dori. I don’t bite." She smiled, she didn’t realize how long he’d liked her. How long he’d wanted to ask her.

"You’ll have to give me time to get ready though.. I-.." Suddenly it was her turn to blush, her cheeks turning a bright pink. "I’ve never been on a date before." She knew it was just going to be casual. But she still wanted to look good. To actually try. For Dorian. He deserved the effort at least.

Hearing her giggle relaxed him even more. She thinks I'm funny, he thought with an internal smile. And she said yes! Her next words warmed him further, and she pulled him into a hug. It surprised him a bit, but he grinned too. They'd been casual acquaintances for ages, then casual friends for so long that he had no idea how to act with her actually paying attention to him.

She'd never been on a date? Never? Dorian had to take a moment to process this, and possibly rethink what their plans would be. If this was to be her first date, it needed to be a good one. But what to do? He'd have to ask Thatch....

"Take all the time you need, Maddie. I don't mind." he smiled at her. He was still nervous as anything, but every smile she offered, every laugh and blush had him feeling that maybe, just maybe, this wouldn't be such a bad thing after all.

Maddie just blinked initially. Maybe it wasn’t just a friends thing. He seemed so nervous… why would he be that nervous about just asking her to tea? That would be silly. What was he doing? Could it be a date? She pondered this over in her mind and almost missed the proper sentence that he did finally manage.

"Dorian are you trying to ask me on a date?" She tilted her head and looked up at him, grinning. "I’d like that, quite a lot." She smiled and nodded. Dorian was sweet, and it seemed like he was asking her out, perhaps she was mistaken, but it was better to just say it out right than assume wrong. At least in her head. She often got herself into trouble by just speaking her mind though.

She was surprised though, just a bit. That someone sweet like Dorian could be interested in her… she was a bit odd and she knew it. Always lost in a day dream… She wasn’t complaining though she liked him, she just believed the man should make the first move.
