SIGHTSEERS
Honestly I didn't laugh once. The movie is categorised under dark comedy but unlike other movies in this grouping, I think they left out the comedy part. To me the story was weirdly twisted and kind of creepy, although it did follow a clear line and, at times, had intriguing qualities. But for the most part I had a upturned lip and a bored sigh. That being said the person that recommended sightseer's to me expressed how much they laughed throughout so I guess it's all down to personal taste. In this instance my taste buds leaned towards the less heavy, light-hearted side of comedy.
A PLACE BEYOND THE PINES
I've heard many mixed reviews about this movie and after watching it my view is mixed too. The storyline is compelling with an interesting concept and I thought Eva Mendes played her part tremendously well. The unsatisfactory element was the length, I believe that shortening this film would give it more suspense and interest plus in my opinion the ending was a bit drab. So overall it goes on my decent/ probably wont watch it again list.
JERSEY BOYS
This film has a beautiful old musical style feel with a NYC Italian twist. The 4 main boys, John Lloyd Young who plays Frankie Valli, Vincent Piazza who plays Tommy DeVito, Michael Lomenda who plays Nick Massi, and Erich Bergen who plays Bob Gaudio were fabulous in portraying the likeness of the characters and it is said that all sang live while on set. After reading up about this movie it's nice to know that they have kept the film close to the original story of the four seasons only adding in a few things here and there. The big musical number at the end closes the whole film nicely (although some actors did look a little awkward just standing there for ages) and makes you want to jump up and dance all night. If you ever enjoyed watching the old school west side story this is definitely one for you.
A million ways to die in the west.
Knowing that the director and writer (Seth Macfarlane) was also the creator of family guy, I wasn't sure of what to expect with this movie. But I was delightfully surprised. The storyline was interesting and easy to follow, the comedy was well played using historical content and honestly is it a great first rate film. I also loved the balance between the characters. would definitely watch this film again.
WHIPLASH
As a musical theatre student this film was top on many of my friends need to watch list and was hyped to the max. After watching I can say I was not disappointed but maybe regretting putting this film on such a high pedestal. Whiplash has a deep profound storyline and message behind how musicians can become great. The main characters Andrew (Miles teller) and Fletcher (J.K. Simmons) were played exceptionally well and I love how the director (Damien Chazelle) kept an artistic feel to the film. Half way through I wasn't sure how I felt and if I was actually enjoying it plus I couldn't guess where the ending would go but the last scene killed it (in a good way) and made whiplash definitely worth the watch!

WAR HORSE
ok so this is one of them films people tell you is amazing, and say that your gunna cry, and you finally go to watch it, and guess what ..... you actually do cry over a horse! This film is honestly flipping awesome. The film has been adapted from the west end stage show but the story behind it is beautiful. Everything in this film down to the actors and animals was exquisite and I believe this film has become one of my top ten. congratulations Steven, you've done it again (applause)
