(But in the end Pomni moves on, and she and Caine have a good ending)

I'm fascinated by how the animators for TADC handle Caine's impossible anatomy so well. There's so much to balance and they've somehow engineered a solution for his expressions to hold during speech.

I also traced Caine answering the phone from episode 4 to demonstrate his phonemes and mouth shapes.

How to draw Expressions on Caine!

AN EXCEPTION TO THE RULE

The way he's holding them here makes me feel conflicted. Like, this scene is terrifying and I can't imagine what's it like to be on a receiving end of it but... just look at it.

- he's holding Zooble in a way so that their parts don't fall out

- he's not squeezing Gangle so that her fragile ribbons don't get tangled

- he's not putting too much pressure on Ragatha so that she doesn't get ripped apart

- he's only holding Pomni and Jax firmly because their bodies are solid and rubbery

And this scene is right after the torture too. You would think he would be more violent, but no. He wanted to hurt them, not break them.

Caine wanted them to listen. And because they never did, he made them feel what he felt when they poked at his biggest fears and insecurities.

I guess what I meant to say is - even when at his worst, there was still something considerate in him. Something resembling the real him and not the angry monster he'd become.

I don't really have anyone i can properly share em with, so I'm throwing my random Caine / Human Caine Headcanons onto here.

These also include some xReader vibes so beware sksksks gimme that cookie

Caine:

- has a filter system that prevents him from developing and feeling strong emotions

- two ways of giving a kiss. Either closing his Jaws and booping you with his teeth or taking your entire head into his mouth

- or he just straight up gives you a long ass lick across your face / neck

- teeth are very sensitive to touch that is not his own

- very sharp canines (idk why but I love to imagine that one of his teeth is gold)

- kicks his legs when excited, will float around like a dog who has its 5 mins

- the pupil of his blue eye is constantly dilated, does not react to light or emotions like the pupil of the green one does

- fiddles with his hands a lot, nervous wreck inside but tries to not show it

- has a hard time distinguishing what he DOES feel. Some emotions lay too close together to properly pick out what is what (especially Obsession and Love)

- had atleast one existential crisis about himself being sentient enough and being able to feel in some extend, u till his filter came through and forced a thought restart, making him forget his breakdown

- Bubble is part of HIS code, a way to show how stable and sane he is.

- refuses to walk because floating is just more convenient + doesn't really know how to do it

Human Caine:

- dealing with the abstractions has left some marks on him, theres very suspicious looking scars that litter his arms and upper torso

- unable to every walk properly. Chronic knee and leg pain that flare up every now and then

- has to use a cain to help with walking

- ADHD and Autism

- even tho he technically has a mouth now, he is still unable to grasp the concept of a kiss properly. He still mainly presses his face against your cheek/ neck or ends up licking instead of a kiss

- very sceptical of other humans

- would wear very colourful pins and even fingerless gloves (and very obi his beloved red tailcoat)

- does wear gloves almost all the time, since hes pretty sensitive towards a lot of textures

I just wanna share my liking of Caine with others, I don't know anyone who likes him or is into him so it's like putting food out where there's no animals to feed on it..
