Stoats, or short-tailed weasles are quite small, weighing only about 200-500 grams. Despite their size, these little mustelids (a diverse family that includes weasles, badgers, otters, polecats, and wolverines) are formidable predator capable of taking down prey many times larger than themselves. Stoats grow an exceptionally soft and silky pure white coat in the winter to help them hide from predators like foxes and birds of prey.
