landlords are unethical. go get a real job
the moral arc of the universe bends toward justice
and it’s about fucking time america bends with it
imagine waiting on a verdict for a murder caught on video and still not knowing if justice will be served.
this country broken af.
defund. abolish. rebuild.
no justice, no peace.
i think for americans, success is manifested as the ability to remove yourself from society’s rules through wealth, power, or violence, which are sometimes all the same thing
it’s partly a result of the dogma of individualism but mostly it’s that we’re all aware — deep deep down — of how fucking dysfunctional this country is and the idea of becoming so rich that we no longer have to participate in this national charade is the best fantasy we can think of
montero is a fucking bop, as the youths say
Paolo Sebastian “East of the Sun and West of the Moon” fw19 couture collection
No wonder Meghan Markle wants to leave UK
Since this post came back to life today, here's a few more comparisons
wonder why they were treated so differently
but i can’t qwhite put my finger on it
YOU’VE GOT MAIL 📧 year 1998 | director Nora Ephron
i have such a confused relationship with this movie.
like, the VIBES are so lovely and bright and wholesome and sweet, and this couple was really informative to my idea of what it looked like when two people just click.
BUT. he literally puts her out of business?? forces her to lose the shop her father built and where she had her most beautiful memories??? catfishes her for days?? figures out who she is, where she works, what she’s passionate about, and STILL takes allll that away for??? money??? what the fuck how did we think that ending was beautiful?
“don’t cry, shopgirl, don’t cry....because you don’t have a shop no more! BOOM! ROASTED”
the murder of sarah everard and the subsequent public/government response is so reminiscent of how folks completely fucked up the yorkshire ripper case for years.
at one point, the police even instituted a curfew on WOMEN to “keep them safe” because that is somehow more rational, ethical, and legal than putting the curfew on men since, well, a MAN was the one doing the killing.
remember that one viral post that asked women what they would do if all men were removed from the planet for 24 hours and sooooo many of them said “go out alone at night.”
fuck all ya’ll for taking the stars away from women.
a minimalism/nomad youtuber recently posted about partnering with apple to promote their software, and it kind of boggled my mind how many people were congratulating them on “making it” or for the perceived success.
but to me, it smacked of hypocrisy.
how are you going to build your entire brand off of rejecting consumerism and showing concern for the environment and sustainability and then partner with a corporation that directly contributes to human rights violations and floods the environment with trash while mining its finite resources for profit?
then again, something i’ve noticed about a lot of minimalism/nomad youtubers is that they are......let’s be honest....white and middle to upper middle class. there is a shit-ton of privilege that exists in being able to decide to disconnect and reject the modern work machine. these folks know they have a safety net (one of the youtuber’s dad’s works for google?) that allows them to go off and play at being poor.
i really like the minimalism aesthetic. it appeals to me on a basic level, and clutter really just stresses the fuck out of me. it’s just that, with some of these people, it feels so fake.
parenting blogs that profit off of posting photos, videos, and stories of their young kids are unethical
they exploit small people who are unable to consent to the use of their images or lives and it’s gross
the goalposts are always fucking moving
i’m just
so
so tired
how do i learn to disassociate on command
i finished reading “we need to talk about kevin” and funny enough, i have no one to talk to about it. i’m afraid if i brought it up to my friends, they would just be horrified that i actually enjoyed the book.
do you ever feel self-conscious about the things you enjoy? the things that interest you or stick in your head?
i can feel myself diminishing. fading away in turns, like the wistful aura of a bright light that becomes more dim with every blink.
smoke is more concrete than i am.
is it self-indulgent to acknowledge my own existence
