just had a realization that I should’ve figured out six months ago

I'm coming to the realization that I am always thinking. There are constantly multiple trains of thoughts going through my head, including when I'm sleeping, watching movies, or just doing things that should have my complete focus. The other night I was up until 1am (I usually go to sleep around 9pm) because my mind would not stop constantly reciting scenes from the movie Mulan word for word, over and over. It's not necessarily bad thoughts--like last night was the whole 12 digit numerical system I thought up as I ate dinner. It's just like that all the time.

It's so frustrating and exhausting, like I'm never fully grounded in reality and am always stuck inside my head. Nobody I've talked about this with seems to really understand the sheer amount of noise in my brain and that I have never been able to stop it. I don't know if this is even normal and maybe I'm just bad at dealing with my mind, or are there people who actually can quiet their minds or focus on one thing at once??
