This new image from European Southern Obervatory shows a mystical dark void in the middle of all the stars. It’s actually a cloud filled up with gas and dust, and such regions are the birthplaces of future stars!
The cloud is called Lynds Dark Nebula 483 and is located about 700 light-years away in the constellation of Serpens (The Serpent). It contains enough dusty material to completely block the visible light from background stars.
